Wow that is a lot of work for a pair of socks! At least you have a fun pair to wear. I always watch your videos to the end🥰 I enjoy the process as much as the end result, thanks for sharing!
I know haha so many hours..! But now that I understand the construction, I'm sure the next few will go faster :) well I hope so at least haha Thank you for watching :)
I watch from beginning to end 🙂Just finished my pink socks, so now I can cast on something else...hehe... I still have James' second sock and the reading shawl to finish though...so maybe get one of those off my needles before another cast on🙂Loved this episode Chuck...I will soon meet your knitting machine.....
I'd not heard of it either. It's kind of the point to watching a youtube... to watch it.. right? haha Hahaha yeah seaming is... not so fun... to say it politely haha I did try doing it on a sewing machine but it wasn't as nice on the inside.... I just have to suck it up and learn to enjoy it haha
What a great video again! I love to watch your experiments with the knitting machine. I am a person who watch the complete video, read books from front to back and even magazines I start at the front and read everything to the back. That means that there are only few magazines I really enjoy, because it is dreadful to read everything when it is not interesting 😄
hahaha that's dedication to reading a magazine that you don't enjoy! I think I only did that on aeroplanes when I didn't have anything else to do... now I have discovered knitting :) But I also have to read books and videos all the way through.. otherwise I find I don't understand something and have to go backwards anyway to watch/read what I missed haha
I had the same issue trying to make a sock on my LK150, they were too big even though I used similar yarn to the ones I knit by hand and the same number of stitches - I usually knit a 56 stitch sock, so I think I will have to reduce my tension and maybe use a kid's pattern instead! I'm glad you found the cast on rag helpful too, I think you get a better finish that way, as the rag holds the weights and the first few rows don't get damaged, or distorted by them.
It's baffling isn't it?! I don't think I ever noticed the difference so much between different sock brands. I just knit them all with 2.25mm needles and they fit, but they somehow behave differently when knitted flat. I tried another pair with 56 st and they are fine, so... I'm blaming the yarn haha
me too :) According to the analytics.. most people have the attention span of about 8 minutes, so I'm curious how many really do just skip to the end..!
I think it's good you used the self striping, because then you don't have to take them too seriously on your first attempt. Could you have used less yarn if you had switched over to a tighter gauge, or was it just the length that was the issue?
the gauge was correct, I think 8st.. 9... I can't remember now, but I think maybe the leg was longer than I usually make them.... but I say this... I've made a pair for a mans foot and had not issues with the yarn running out so I have no idea... it just somehow ate more yarn... *shrug* knitting machines eat yarn differently it seems...! I shall just have to make more and see what happens with different brands :)
haha yeah? I would not be able to do that with a book.. it would make me stress out throughout the rest of the book Interesting.. I've never watched any videos by Stephen.. but I'm certain I'd watch through as well haha
Instead of ribbing, not just when one has issue with knitting ribbing, garter actually makes a SURPRISINGLY nice sock edge (e.g. Troll socks by Maja Karlsson). Interestingly, the term "garter" in knitting comes from German word (Guertel) for the sock edge and sock tie bands knitted in garter stitch.
I think hand knitted ones look a lot nicer, but equally, these are my first pair so I shouldn't judge all machine knit socks based off of these haha I've made half of another pair and they look a bit better.. it's fun to experiment :)

Very productive woman :) I'm excited for you both to meet heehee I could use your arm muscles ;)
Your socks got character. I think their fun🤩 .. I always see the whole episode from start to finish. No spoilers for me! 😁
Character... yes... that's a good description for them haha ah good, I'm not alone there then... I also always watch to the end :)
You make me laugh every time Emily Kate! I watch the whole video! Never heard of just skipping to the end. And I HATE seaming. I don’t do it. 😃
I'd not heard of it either. It's kind of the point to watching a youtube... to watch it.. right? haha

So fun socks! Would love to try on my machine in the future! 😀
My Frankenstein socks of happiness :) They're crazy but they're fun. Oh yes - definitely give them a try :)
Good for you Emily, a sock is a pretty intense knit👏🏼
Thanks 😆 I like a challenge haha I've made another in a plain colour and toe up and it was a lot easier and made much more sense 😆
That is so cool
fun aren't they :)
I watch the complete video always

The answer lady is the other. You also might try the knit factory
I do what your husband does with books and I only do that with knitting things if it's Stephen West, hahaha! - Kimberly
haha yeah? I would not be able to do that with a book.. it would make me stress out throughout the rest of the book
Interesting.. I've never watched any videos by Stephen.. but I'm certain I'd watch through as well haha
Diana Sullivan is one. Can’t find the other.

I have been meaning to make some socks with a rolled edge but somehow I just never have. I may just have to try it with another machine knit sock :)
Mmmmm pull out knitting needles. I know a couple of friends with sock knitting machines but I've never seen the results.

Oh btw I watch from beginning to end and don't skip anything, but I might be unusual in that regards.
we're not alone.. lots of people watch to the end it seems :)
I have seen someone make needle selectors from old credit cards. Let me lo9k for her name.
Really? That's an interesting concept... I will certainly look them up. Thanks 😆
