The most devastating sin of all is lying. People don't truly understand that you must refrain from all lying, the same as you must refrain from all murder.

To your VALID POINT of the Beis Hamikdash being but a physical representation of what is supposed to be the IDEAL STATE in our minds and hearts ( intellect and emotion), we need to get our act together - especially, when it comes to GETTING ALONG and LEARNING FROM EACH OTHER!
In that vein, we need to remember to treat each other with RESPECT - not to diminish or dismiss someone outright because of our MISPERCEPTIONS!
We must keep in mind that such behavior actually engenders a JUSTIFIED ANIMOSITY - and this is not what the Creator wants.

Sorry, but I think you are MISTAKEN about the notion that the previous serious sins which Jews committed in the past, like - idolatry adultery and murder- still apply today. Once TESHUVA is enacted by G-D, and the sinner - and FORGIVEN, is it not WRONG to remind him of his past in this way?
Rather, not respecting or learning from each other, is what is keeping us from the Redemption! Those who should KNOW BETTER must be especially vigilant to avoid such behavior.
