Spray a little bit of WD40 inside the tank over the inner walls. This will take care of the rusting even if the bike is stood for long. And don't worry about WD40 going into the engine it's not harmful in that quantity

I have a 2008 model that I still ride. No rust on mine. After each wash cover all engine in wd-40 and wipe off excess. Will stop rust and give it that new wet look. Smokes for about 30 secs when you start it and that’s all. Bike stays like new forever
I ride one to but never experienced shutting down because of heat. I did experience exhaust temp warnings. Maybe set your tuning a bit richer so the fuell cools down your cilinders or take other sparkplugs who handle the heat better. My mt-01 smells basicly like a cart track if you smell it. Never heard much about unreliable mt-01’s.
Hi. Great vid. I own an MT-01 from new. The cutting out of the engine you have been getting in town isn’t the heat, it’s a faulty throttle position sensor for the fuel injection. It’s a warranty recall from Yamaha as Yamaha designed a new sensor, so yours may not have had the updated sensor. May be worth contacting a Yamaha dealer.

I’ve have under a very long time thought about to sell the GSX and replace it with the MT01. I live in Sweden and here you can find very nice examples of this bike to a good price. The clutch problem many have is mostly because you need to have absolutely correct oil. Many don't realize that and use wrong oil. I have no rust anywhere, not in the fuel either. All I've done is change battery once. Still have the original tires and chain but they're about to be changed now 😎

The valves have hydraulic adjustment so you never have to worry about setting the valves, its dry sump and the oil tank has super easy access, Never had a tank rust inside on either of the 2 ive owed, never had a hydraulic master or slave cylinder go on them, but i did change my clutch pack at 50,000 km, Its the Torque. The cutting out will be the throttle position sensor, not the heat, there was a recall by Yamaha for it, in most parts of the world, and every bike ive come across has had it done. As for difficult to manoeuvre, the mirror is nearly up to his shoulder, so maybe he's just a short guy who finds it difficult to manoeuvre at 240kg bike. Get one you'll love it.
An air cooled motorcycle dissapates 75% of its heat through the oil. Run an oil cooler with an electric fan you can switch on during traffic riding. All your overheating issues will be solved... youre welcome.
