I have a jewel to tell you about! Up North in Ely, Minnesota they take Bluegrass very seriously! When we vacationed there a Bluegrass band every week would come to the evening fire and perform for us! This band was always awesome! This is a compliment from a dyed-in-the-wool heavy metal dude!!
I am beyond amazed! I have been a musician for over 25-year and when a song moves me (especially a cover), that is impressive. Randy Rhodes would be proud of this cover! Crazy Train was Randy Rhodes best masterpiece and this is an unbelievable tribute to that!
I heard this for the first time in a comic book store with my teenage son and immediately looked for it. It's an amazing, nuanced reinterpretation that gives fresh life to the original. Not many remakes you could say that about... very well done!
Ok. For the first time in my life after hearing this song for 30 years...I finally understood the lyrics. I play bluegrass and it so much fun to adapt songs like this in the bluegrass fashion. My band did a cover of a Bee Gees tune once!
As a guitar player and a huge fan of Randy Rhoads, I know he is smiling on this band and on all who appreciate this. Randy once told a crowd “You can’t hate on any music, because at one point all music was the rock n roll of its day.” Randy loved all music, understood its importance and just wanted to share his little slice of it with anyone that wanted to share. One of the most joyous moments of my life, about 6 months before he tragically left us, I saw him jam with an old street blues player AND 2 bluegrass players. The best street jam I have ever seen. He may have been a “metal guitarist”, but I witnessed the biggest smiles I ever saw that night from ALL the players.
i actually really like this. haha, its a wonderful combo of rock and bluegrass. thanks ozzy for this song. and iron horse for doing an amazing bluegrass cover of it. haha this is awesome.

The solo IS a mandolin. The banjo and mandolin are both featured instruments in bluegrass. The finger picking is banjo, the single picking/strumming is mandolin.
