It's the same when "In Hushed Whispers" (one of the best soundtrack in Inquisition before Trespasser) plays when Dorian shows up.
Honestly “The Lost Temple” will always be one of my all time favorites. It encapsulates the feeling of greatness of the Elvhen Empire and the magic and price of all that was lost. It’s full of awe but also has an edge of darkness that preludes the reveal of the Evanuris. Trevor Morris nailed the assignment
Really proves why Trevor Morris should have been the one who helmed the Veilguard's OST. Maker, I might cry buckets along with my Inquisitors who want Solas to be redeemed because all of them set aside their pride and ego just to reach out to him once and for all. Because they all know what it feels to be ostracized, to feel that they are out of place in the world they live in, that they aren't saint as him and that's why they want to help him, that they can see the hurt and pain despite his attempts to hide it. His music represents the external and internal struggles the characters have to go through in this f*cking world named Thedas.
I agree, I have no clue why they invited Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe to work on veilguard because they rarely had a memorable soundtrack in any game to begin with. Trevor Morris also haven't worked on many video game sountracks but Inquisition soundtrack was so good.
@@GRIMHOOD99 Lorne Balfe did an amazing job on Beyond Two Souls. I think they wanted a big name like Zimmer to go out with style, but it didn't work out, like the game.
I have deep respect for Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe. I was initially excited to learn that they would be doing this soundtrack. However, no composer for this series has even scratched the surface of what Trevor Morris was able to accomplish (even Inon Zur). Trevor Morris should have been invited back for this one. Not bringing him on again is one of the biggest mistakes for this game in my opinion.
Trevor Morris' music is so memorable and leaves a lasting impression. When I heard this song, I got chills. He should've been the one to make the music for Veilguard.
3:50 - Onward That scene when Mythal (elf), Morrigan (human), my Inquisitor (dwarf) and my Rook (qunari) all convince Solas to tie himself to the Veil, especially my dwarven Inquisitor, who was friends with Solas, helping him to seek atonement for what he's done to the dwarfs...Agh...I cried.
This, together with Love and Ashes, is probably my favorite soundtrack of the game. Such a wonderful blend of the new and old music with tributes to all previous dragon age games. The new soundtrack definitely took some time to warm up for me, and there's still some tracks I feel ehhh about, but there are some good gems. Also a very strong leitmotif throughout the whole soundtrack that, after paying close attention, pops up way more than you initially hear.
The Lost Elf is such a powerful piece of music..... it made me cry all those years ago, it made me cry now. How I wish Veilguard had turned out differently.
I was saying in an old video of his trespasser theme years ago that this theme should come back in one of the endings for the next game. I am so glad they brought it back.
Minor spoiler warning. I don't think I'm the only one who has complicated feelings about the game, but the Rook-Varric-Solas story REALLY worked for me. And while I only did the Solas romance as an afterthought (and I messed my inquisitor import), it was genuinely touching to see them have a moment together.
Same, I have complains but I really love the ending. It was perfect ending for my Lavellan and Solas and I m happy they gave us such a nice conclusion. I’ll forever mourn joplin for the rest, but I m really glad Solas wasn’t made tranquil.
Rook as a character is near perfect, he/she has personality, and yes the Rook Varrick Solas worked for me. And almost every companion the story works too, except Tash and her political agenda. The sory i like a lot is Enmrich and Davrin with the griffin.
Thank you so much for this! The moment I heard the Lost Elf refrain in this is when I absolutely lost it and ugly cried at my desk. Was hoping this was on the soundtrack, so to come across your video is great!
It says a lot about the music in Veilguard when the best and most emotional ones are are the ones Zimmer and team based off of Morris' work...his music had SOUL! The rest of veilguard sounds so "mass produced" and more like a movie sountrack...at first I thought I didn't like it because it was new and I needed more time, but after 130 hours in the game I can confirm that's not the issue, I still couldn't connect with almost any of the songs. Also, good music doesn't need time to get used to, it just hits you in the heart. I remember the first moment i opened up dao and heard the theme song, or the campfire theme, or fenris' theme in da2, it was magical. Then the entire inquisition, descent, & trespasser OST swept me out of my chair and dragged me to thedas by the heart strings. None of the Veilguard OST did that to me. None.
Agreed. The music in Veilguard felt uninspired and just so phoned in. Only the stuff that was using Morris' work was worth anything. Everything else, I was just *waiting* for a single track that took my breath away like Inquisition's OST did....but nothing.
I don't agree at all. It's always easier to copy something, but to create something new - that requires skill and talent. DAV theme is actually amazing, "Not the Chosen one" has so many sides and tones, "Mother of Halla" sounded very intense when u fought Ghilan'nain trying to free your companions at the same time. "Where There’s A Will… " sounds mysterious and epic as hell.
@@Fenharelcamelater Yeah, I don't agree there. And I didn't want them to copy. I wanted Trevor Morris back since he created an iconic sound for a game that sticks with people years later. In Veilguard, a lot of the battle/cutscene/and ambient music just faded into the background for me as notes and noise. I did like the Necropolis combat music, to be fair. There's just no song currently from the game where I'm like, "I need that one." and scurry off to TH-cam to find it. Again, we just have different opinions on this. For me, it just felt that it wasn't on theme? Like yes, "Mother of Halla" was intense but it didn't reflect ancient elvhen roots either. The ambient music in Arlathan (and Arlathan crater and capital) just weren't any different than what we had elsewhere in the game. Where's the inspiration to tell a story through music alone. You should hear the differences of Tevinter and Arlathan in its music.
The songs playing during Weisshaupt and the Necropolis are very good. The ones playing during the Elgar'nan fight and the atonement ending are phenomenal. As a whole Inquisition had a better soundtrack but that final theme from DAV is probably my favorire of the whole series
I cannot listen to this without sobbing, it’s so well done, all the mash ups of songs together, I can just picture Solas looking back at the veil tearing and the realisation and what must be done, I think my heart will be broken forever
Thank you for posting this, the best song in the game and I love the nods to the Trespasser DLC. The cello (I think cello, could also be viola?) at the end always makes me choke up. Solavellan for life!
Nice little touch is the part at :50 is the part we hear at the end of Inquisition when Solas steals the power from Mythal/Flemeth and he looks up at the camera.
Thanks very much for taking the time to dig up, process, mix and post this track (and others)! Really appreciate you putting in the effort for our enjoyment. I have my fingers crossed for a complete release of the soundtrack at some point in the future, slim as that hope might be. Cheers!
I am so fucking glad i did those crossroad missions way early all i wanted from the veilguard was solas finally coming to the good side and finally reuniting with the inquisitor im so glad i made a female elf in both inquisition and the veilguard
i consider hans zimmer to be one of the best ever but his veilguard OST was really wasn't impressive to me... Trevor Morris really created something great with Inquisition and Trespasser.. not letting or hiring him to the direct sequel's soundtrack is so dumb.
Lorne and Zimmer did a good job with the soundtrack. Everyone keeps wishing Trevor returned for it but can probably only name 2 (mainly Lost Elf) songs from the Inquisition soundtrack while I can name 7 tracks from the Veilguard that I liked. Lost Elf was really good, but I can only name 3 other tracks that I enjoyed from Inquisition. It’s unfair to dismiss the Veilguard’s soundtrack for nostalgic’s sake. Both are good in their own ways.
(Spoiler warning!) This scene + music pulled such unfathomable emotions from my soul. For Solas to be faced with both his past and present loves (Mythal and Inquisitor Lavellan), for him to be set free and saved from himself by them both, that was so devastatingly beautiful to me. But nothing compares to the moment when he finally reunited with my lavellan, and this part at 4:17 started playing- my soul both somehow crumbled and yet repaired itself at the same time. The heartache i’ve held for so long over them had finally been lifted, and the music only made it all the more emotionally intense. That moment will be one i hold onto forever
The DAV soundtrack is a banger...in its completed state. For the life of me, among all the strange decisions they made for this game, omitting so much music from the official OST is one of the most perplexing.
If there is such a thing as a good sequel, well, this song is it. Will I now outlisten Lost Elf theme with this new track? 😂 Thank you for posting it before we all went mad searching the internet for the song, feeling absolutely cheated of the audio
They should have had Trevor Morris or Inon Zur back for this game and spend the Hans Zimmer money on the writing room. If they did that, and thus brought back some choices in the codex, the game would be better and the backlash wouldn't be nearly as bad.
Solas is: Hamartia... (The hero's misrecognition and false assessment of his own situation. The protagonist, unaware of the true significance of the circumstances in which he finds himself, commits acts that lead to further sealing his fate and ultimately to disaster.)
Not hiring the person who wrote OST for Trespasser, DLC about Solas, to write OST for Veilguard, a game about Solas, is stupid to the point of criminal.
I didn't get to hear this when I finished the game last night, as I RP'd a Rook that hated Solas, so I fought him and forcefully bound him to the Veil, and got a heroic version of the leitmotiff at 3:10.
Is there an unreleased song when you first meet Morrigan in the Crossroads? That shit had me welling up! Edit: I just realised that the song you hear when talking to her is just The Lost Temple. Explains why I was so emotional!
This was supposed to be the romanced version initially but I got hit by the rare bug that switched world states with a different save and I realized it too late that my Lavellan turned into a Trevelyan (the bug got fixed apparently but world states are permanent). Since I basically record the in-game music with all other audio settings turned off, the romanced version will have to wait until my next playthrough. In the mean time though, someone else already uploaded the romanced version of this track on here, look up "Veilguard ending theme" and you'll find it.
Do you think you could find the track that plays during fights in the Necropolis? It's not "Where The Dead Must Go", I've been looking for it EVERYWHERE
This might be a hot take but the soundtrack for the veilguard has been extremely underwhelming, i was pretty shocked tbh. I Love hans zimmer but i do not think he was the right fit to compose the soundtrack and it shows that he hasn't made music for video games in a decade. This song however is the best I've heard all game and it really brings me back to the trespasser dlc, it's very nostalgic 😭
@@Adrima_Yeah, so when Lost Elf came on, it felt like I went back in time 10 years ago.... It was a warm yet sad feeling at the same time. The only thing that warmed me about this game was that Inky and Solas are finally together. No other soundtrack in the game has ever evoked anything close to something similar other than annoyance.
You know, in the end I just turned that god awful Zimmer track off and put on Morris DAI soundtrack while playing DAtV. The only reason this track is any good b/c its basically stolen from Morris. Fuck Zimmer, and fuck who ever decided to waste a fuck ton of money on that man. They should have thrown that money at Trick and the animations team instead so that they could properly finish the story and ship that game without half of it missing.
I agree. The music in the game is so bad that I just turned it off and turned on the music from Inquisition. Except for those moments when Trevor Morris' notes came through in the soundtrack. That's why the final soundtrack is so good... Because we're hearing what we loved 10 years ago. Hanz Zimmer is in this game just for the big name in the credits...
most of this track is the same motif from veilguard's not the chosen one track though. lost elf does come in at points here, but the majority of this is new
When I heard this motif.. It's blasphemy. Veilgard doesn't deserve it. It's like a final slap in the face, so that I remember what all the previous parts were like and what trash this one is.
@jillwarricks To some extent, yes. I try to find a specific track and listen to all the tracks that are not on the official album. I'm trying to find the good in this game, so I listen to them ALL. For example, the battle music in Necropolis is good. I also wanted to hear a musical motive, but there is practically none, it is mediocre, like the whole album. He's not memorable.
@@rekkevishnevec757 If you pay close attention to the soundtrack album, there's a leitmotif that comes back in nearly every song on that album. Unless that is not what you meant by musical motive. But if you did, there is 100% a leitmotif.

Solas is: Hamartia... (The hero's misrecognition and false assessment of his own situation. The protagonist, unaware of the true significance of the circumstances in which he finds himself, commits acts that lead to further sealing his fate and ultimately to disaster.)
Thank you so much for all your uploads! I’m so grateful
Chapter 3 had me crying all the way through, and that ending...my heart.
2:11 just gets me every time.
So lovely. I love this music. So beautiful.
i am actually throwing up crying thank youu
Could you upload the version of the Inquisitor's theme/Lost Elf that plays during the second conversation with them in Minrathous?
Getting rid of Trevor Morris is one of the biggest mistakes BW made with this game.
This fits my main character in my manga I’m working on
Not hiring the person who wrote OST for Trespasser, DLC about Solas, to write OST for Veilguard, a game about Solas, is stupid to the point of criminal.
I didn't get to hear this when I finished the game last night, as I RP'd a Rook that hated Solas, so I fought him and forcefully bound him to the Veil, and got a heroic version of the leitmotiff at 3:10.
Veilguard put the cone of shame on Solas and didn’t think we’d notice
Hello, how did you extract those soundtracks? Trying to do it with Frostbite editor but can't extract them (or even the .toc file).
They finally can heal together
Is there an unreleased song when you first meet Morrigan in the Crossroads? That shit had me welling up!
Edit: I just realised that the song you hear when talking to her is just The Lost Temple. Explains why I was so emotional!
Would you also upload the romanced version please?
This was supposed to be the romanced version initially but I got hit by the rare bug that switched world states with a different save and I realized it too late that my Lavellan turned into a Trevelyan (the bug got fixed apparently but world states are permanent). Since I basically record the in-game music with all other audio settings turned off, the romanced version will have to wait until my next playthrough. In the mean time though, someone else already uploaded the romanced version of this track on here, look up "Veilguard ending theme" and you'll find it.
@ Thank you so much!
Did Morris and Balfe work together on this one? This is a really nice blend of their various themes.
thank you, would really like a download link of the audio version ^^ I bought the OST & this not beeing on it was such a disappointment ...
Damn, I wish the game had been even half as good as this OST

Best song
Do you think you could find the track that plays during fights in the Necropolis? It's not "Where The Dead Must Go", I've been looking for it EVERYWHERE
😭; we need to better team rescript the Veilgaurd to return to same high quality as this ost😭
Wow! ❤
Can somebody help me to piece my heart back together? It just broke
Why cant this bee on Spotify? ugh....
SO ARE YOU GOING TO POST THE ROMANCED ONE?
why is it unreleased?
I'm still looking for a soundtrack from Ossuary that reminds me of Mass Effect, could you upload that too? Thank you so much.
I'm curious to know what the change is in the romanced version. Is it an integrated former theme or something new?
You are free to find a better way. This part of the game broke me, in all the best ways.
The music - together with the graphics and the really great and inclusive character creator - is one of the few redeeming qualities of this game.
Hans flopped, this ending is the best part of the in game music
Not a fan of most of the soundtrack but the ending is mostly new from Hans with bits of Lost Elf from Morris
@@katm8128 this is the only time when i felt his music shine. it was the most evocative and its only because of the foundation made by Morris
Another green ending ?? :D :D
I hate this game, but this moment, this soundtrack, was the most beautiful thing about the game....
This was the only reason i bought new Dragon age. And it was worth the money.
That was the only reason to wait for this game.
@@veronikar6315 Same. I played through this game to just make my inky see Solas again :(
@@veronikar6315 same T_T
@@Adrima_Yeah, so when Lost Elf came on, it felt like I went back in time 10 years ago.... It was a warm yet sad feeling at the same time. The only thing that warmed me about this game was that Inky and Solas are finally together.
No other soundtrack in the game has ever evoked anything close to something similar other than annoyance.
This game has alot of issues, but i dont fins the redemption ending one of them.
Are you ok bud ?
I agree. The music in the game is so bad that I just turned it off and turned on the music from Inquisition. Except for those moments when Trevor Morris' notes came through in the soundtrack. That's why the final soundtrack is so good... Because we're hearing what we loved 10 years ago.
Hanz Zimmer is in this game just for the big name in the credits...
most of this track is the same motif from veilguard's not the chosen one track though. lost elf does come in at points here, but the majority of this is new
Veilgaurd was awful but this theme is incredible.
Nuh uh, Veilguard was pretty good.
@@jillwarricks Glad you enjoyed it :)
@@jillwarricks Nuh uh, it wasn't
Just a remixed Trespasser OST. They slacked so hard on Veilguard.
This scene was the only acceptable thing in the entire the veilgaurd.
When I heard this motif.. It's blasphemy. Veilgard doesn't deserve it. It's like a final slap in the face, so that I remember what all the previous parts were like and what trash this one is.
So did you specifically look this track up just to cry about Veilguard or...?
Sound track great but game it self woke
Oh brother don't you have some clickbait slop to go watch instead? Don't think anybody here really gives a shit if the game's woke.
@@jillwarricks it woke man it simple treu ofc u might like it did not sey anyting about thet but game it self treu woke amezing sound treck sound not be waste woke game
The entire Dragon Age and Mass Effect series is. Your point?
Game series that has ALWAYS been very progressive is *check notes* still progressive. What a surprise.
You are my savior, I’ve been looking for this 🫶🏻
I felt so much pain for Solas during this scene. Dude has been blaming himself for centuries, I don’t think he realised that thrall that Mythal had on him, how she bind him to her service as a slave
THANK YOU. when i listened to the soundtrack and didn't hear these redone tracks i was pissed.
Was the game garbage in my eyes? Yes. Was it absolutely painful for me to play through? Yes. Then at the very end it was 4:00 and I had instand goosebumps. That's exactly what I had missed the whole game, so was it worth it? Yes 🤔😅
