It is ingenious how they created a story for each song, and events for each part of the song. When he was thrown out he said "all right, all right," which fit with the action. I think they sat down listening to most of Beatles songs, and picked the ones that fit most to the story line already written. Then each song may have given their imagination wings, and they came up with situations that would fit the song, and they have put it all in a sensible order. This movie is a masterpiece!
Svein Grimstad I disagree, I watched it because I like the songs, but the story jumped all over the place just to be able to sing a song. For example: Lets put prudence in a closet so we can sing "Dear prudence, won't you come out to play". It's so random.
@@louiswouters71 I agree, in regards to watching it because I like the music, but also because it's a nice story to watch in the form of a jukebox musical. Unfortunately, you seem to have not taken the effort to pay attention to the story, in favor of listening to the music alone. They really do complement eachother, so I would suggest giving the movie a rewatch, and paying attention to the story.
Exactly the same for me. I hope your watching the Beatles 50 year reunion. It's funny seeing this song being sung by imagine dragons and imagining this scene
Exactly!! This is one of my favorite movies ever because they use the songs by the Beatles to tell the story. It’s crazy how so much meaning and symbolism is in this movie and I absolutely love their voices! I heard people do not like this film because they think this movie is trying to replace or make the Beatles music sound better than it did before. But it’s okay…Apparently a lot of people are not mature enough to understand the story this film is telling lol
My dad was a huge Beatle lover, I never really payed attention. Then I watched this movie and fell in love, not just with the movie, but the songs. That is when my love was made. Now I try to show everyone that I love the Beatles. So please don't put this movie down.
GabryalWhiteMan this comment was made 6 years ago. i have many records and cds of the Beatles work. but let’s gatekeep a famous band and act like you know someone.
One of the best musical films. I love how all the songs fits. My favorite scenes are "I want you/She's so heavy" and "Happiness is a warm gun." This is so well put together. I know older Beatles fans - some - have an issue with covers and such but honestly...the songs are picked so perfectly. Love it. Love love love.
one of the best scenes from the movie. Great use of the song. I also like how she latter is singing lyrics from this song when she hides from the Riot in the Phone booth.
Lori Wolfcat he's a Brit. they were moderately peaceful revolutionists. if he'd wanted to fight them they'd all be lying on the ground while he spat blood on them.
Yeah. This to me is my answer to being "quarantined", on "lock down" & told to wash my hands and cover my mouth when I sneeze or cough. Or especially when people look at me like I'm some crazy person, when the truth is that I'm a quiet, little, lonely person who is in love with a special lady friend who's far away from me and I can't even see or talk to her, let alone know how much I truly and fully love her and I want to be with her. BTW this movie came out in 2007, not 2003.
There is some truth to that as retaliation is derived from anger and hatred although there are those who commit senseless acts of violence simply because they can do it and get away with it, which is why law enforcement has use of force policies.
Ironic that, later in the movie, Paco (guy with the beard, owner of the office) is shown being walked in on while making bombs. Jude's bad feeling about the guy was on-point! 😉👌🏼 Go figure that the "artsy guy" character had a good intuition. 💗
I can’t be the only one who still thinks this version is better than the original. The Beatles are amazing and I listen to all their music but I prefer this version specifically.
Just noticed that Jude doesn't really freak out when he's insulted, "Oh that's not what I meant." But when Jude tells the truth to her, she fucking freaks the hell out and leaves.
This is my favorite scene besides the beginning when he shakes his head (which i watch over and over again) xD cuz you know.. who needs a life? >:3 i love how right after he leaves he just walks back in like "im back mother hoverrrs" xD
Paul Hartman if you put "repeat" in the url after youtube, it takes you to a site where you can have the video play over and over again as long as you want
i like to think that in this scene, he's really just come into the building and started yelling at people and beating them up, but in his mind, he's doing whats shown.
Great cover...but god, when dating an activist, it is this. "Hey, I made money to feed and clothe us for this month." "STARVING CHILDREN, CRIMINAL POLITICS!!" "So...do you not want pizza for tonight or what?"
The war infected both sides. The Beatles tried to bring back reason. After Martin Luther King died people forgot Peace and took on the same thought system that started the war in the first place. Trying to fight fire with fire. His character was fighting against the fight against the fight. Sort of ironic. That's what I got out of this anyway. Great Movie!
Damn, Ive got class in the morning and it is definitely too late to start this movie...looks like i'm watching all the clips instead until l i pass out.
I love how he gets pushed out and then he just strolls back in XD
silver note *Strolls back in* oh look how well you've kept me out. Let me fuck up everything.

It's not random. She was in the closet because she was heartbroken about Sadie being with Jojo.

It's very similar to what Denis Potter did with depression-era songs in Pennies From Heaven.
There's something so gratifying about this scene

Deadass. For my inner peace.

Alejandro Gonzalez she just likes the covers. Shame.
don't worry morgan….Across the Universe was one of the BEST movies I have seen

His voice makes you feel some type of way
Love his voice change 2:39
Janae Herrera ikr
He's a great singer for sure.
He looks shockingly similar to Paul McCartney
All brits look the same.
coolhere45 I really agree... that is what I said where the first time I watched this movie!! :)
I find it funny too because he was based off John :P

I wouldn't even be able to be mad at him with that accent 😍
"Don't hurt him, DON'T HURT HIM!"

Lori Wolfcat
he's a Brit. they were moderately peaceful revolutionists.
if he'd wanted to fight them they'd all be lying on the ground while he spat blood on them.
Dave Marx Haha true. So, what part of Britain is Jude from? He sounds like Irish And Scottish decent.
The actor is from the London area but he's portraying a character from Liverpool.
I analyzed this scene in my cinema class, amazing all the meanig of everything, the colors, forms etc!
They have a point with this song. You can't stop violence and destruction with more violence and destruction.

Fighting fire with fire
@@AlexKenas police ARE the ones committing senseless acts of violence though. Bootlicker.
Appreciate the little detail of calling out the Revolutionaries pictures of chairmen Mao being the moment that guy got really pissed.

Agreed your gut feeling never lies
My favorite scene along with when they sing "I want you/ she's so heavy"
chloe God it reminds me of Boot camp ;/
Lol his anger singing.
There is literally no other movie as close to perfection as Across the Universe.
"What the hell are you doing here friend?" "Oh I'm just gonna sing/yell to my girlfriend until she breaks up with me:)" "Oh, okay, take your time :)"
Him coming back is when I finally find a good comeback to defend myself
It's June 2020, It doesn't look so good guys. This is what we need in The U.S
Lawdddd this is my favorite part of the movieeeeee !! Let's be real though the whole movie is my favorite part. 😩💕
“But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao you ain’t gonna make with anyone anyhow”
Damn that was actually a cold line I never noticed
i like that in the movie they did live vocals instead studio recordings(album)
Ik!! That’s one of the reasons why I loved the film even more since their live vocals and not pre-recorded
still remember this scene 10 years later
Damn this song really hits different with everything going on. The message still applies, though.
What was happening when you wrote this? People over exaggerate. Every year is the new “worst year ever”
@@mrdavman13 I didn’t say it was the worst year ever lol

That anger singing though.
