His voice is as pure and soulful as it was in 1985. The song is about his parents (pater and mater = dad and mom) and his childhood; his mom left him at a very young age and never returned.
@@heru777media yes man, do something with you're voice...now! Do you sing? I could kick myself that I didn't do more in broadcasting. My sister had the voice of Karen Carpenter and didn't have the sf confidence to go all out and then she died at 38, hospitals fault. Crying, crying here....
I saw Mick countless times when The Frantic Elevators were almost a permanent fixture as support act a Eric's in Liverpool back in the late 70's -early 80's, Holding Back the Years was on their set list but was more three cord punk. He also sang with a jazz/blues/soul collective called Tractor who used to play the club midweek and they performed a couple of Frantic Elevators songs in their set including Holding Back the Years in this arrangement and a more soulful version of Please Tell me Why which was so much better slowed down.
Heru 777 in the 80s this my fav song and in 2023 still a good song. Check XG left right official mv these girls are amazing r&b hip hop and they dance are amazing
Yes, I am a fan... Mick said he wrote the song at age 17... sad story Katherine. he breathes life into this song, every time he sings it. Look into his eyes.
