Probably my favorite album of all time. There's not a single bad song on it and even the order of the tracks works to make this incredible album what it is. Loved the video and I can't wait to see what you do in the future!
It's a fantastic album isn't it? My favourite track is probably Death of an Interior Decorator, which is probably a bit of a rogue choice! Thanks for the view - if you subscribe, you'll get notified of my future videos - my next one will drop tomorrow :-)
Definitely not one you usually see as the favorite (in fact I've seen people call it the low point of the album) but I respect it lol. As I said, I don't believe the album has a bad song, but if I had to choose a favorite I'd probably have to pick A Lack of Color. It's not the most complex song on the album, but I think there's a beauty in the relative simplicity. The part where he sings "And I should have given you a reason to stay" always gets me and the way the ending connects back to The New Year is peak.
Passenger seat is one of my favourite songs of all time. I found it by accident watching a video that apparently had nothing to do with the band. This is maybe 12 years ago. Black and white, a guy playing the piano. Interestingly I can’t find that video on TH-cam anymore.
Great video! I came here thinking it was going to be a normal DCfC history video but I learned way more than that! Also: in my opinion We Have The Facts And We Are Voting Yes is Death Cabs best album then followed up by Transatlanticism, Plans, Photo Album, TYFT, etc.
I appreciate that and glad you learnt something from it! Transatlanticism will always be my favourite but I do often return to We Have The Facts. Thanks for the view and comment!
The best DCFC album is Field Manual by Chris Walla. Haha. But seriously, this might have been the last one I really cared about. Codes and Keys had a few classics, but I pretty much dropped off after that. Kintsugi was written after Ben's divorce, so it has an interesting vibe, but it never grabbed me, either. Anyway, great video. Thanks!
Plans was my first introduction to the band & so I think it will always be my favourite for what it means to me. It's hard to argue that Transatlanticism isn't the better album though. As far as the songwriting, concept and the overall sequencing of the album. They tried something similar with Plans but I don't think it worked as well.
For my money, Transatlanticism and Plans are both excellent albums. As is The Photo Album. From Narrow Stairs onward there was definitely a decline in their sound. Thanks for the view and comment!
Let me know what you think of the video below. Is Transatlanticism Death Cab's best album, or does that accolade go to The Photo Album or Plans?
I pressed play on this thinking "Go on, tell me everything I already know", but I did learn some stuff, well done!
Awesome to hear, thanks for the view!

I’ve watched this video twice and it is such a great backstory to my favourite album.

One of the best albums ever made. Plans is great too- hard to pick a winner most days :)

Thank you for the support and view. Field Manual is a great, often forgotten album!

Yeah. Plans is perfect in-between of Record-label and Indie.
