I agree with you Ed about the X Type. Brilliant! Mine is the 2.2 saloon 2008 facelift model. Had it about 7 years now. Best car I have had. Mpg was like you said on a run 60mpg. Only parts needed.......2 rear shockers and starter motor. Done 120000 miles now. Engine is great and powerful enough much more so than the 2.0ltr. How many Mondeos do you see on the road now? But still plenty of X types!! Had to get inner sills welded for last MOT as the facelift model has side skirts covering the sills.....water gets in between and rots the sills. But ok now for another year.!
Highly confusing but nevertheless entertaining video! I have the 2.2 auto which is a super slick changing box, but convenience of that aside, it’s never topped 50 mpg, but does that cruising at quite brisk speeds! Mondeo was in fact a great car, but never a Jag-u-ar! It is very quiet, very smooth, steers and handles brilliantly for a car of near 13 years of age., ours being a10 plate face- lift version estate that we had remapped and we can call it a quick, not fast, car now, at 178 hp on rolling road! Close to the manual I suspect in 0-60 times!’ Seats and extras in the SE version ours is, set it well apart from the Ford, apart from Platform, brakes and suspension bits, very little else, and ours in Ultimate Black, still gets the compliments it deserves, as the handsome vehicle that it is! Cheers
Sounds like a lovely example that you are enjoying but also taking care of and that's the important bit!! This has been a great car since we got it first and its served the 2 other owners very well and a friend has bought it now also so am sure she will keep soldiering on for many years to come. As for the review it was not that informative but fun to do something different every now and again so glad you enjoyed it
It's unfortunate that a Jaguar proponent such as this fine chap would say "fake wood trim everywhere". That is real wood, mate. Also these cars are closer to 20% Mondeo, not 30%. Perception is reality, though, and Jaguar absolutely lost that battle.
Help ! Just purchased a jag 2.2 sovereign estate. 2007,,, rear subframe is cracked, cannot find a garage interested in sorting it, have to do it myself, IS THERE AN EASY WAY OUT OF THIS, ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL TOOLS I NEED, I HAVE A COMPREHENSIVE TOOL BOX, DO I NEED COIL SPRING COMPRESSORS, ETC, ETC, ANY HELP AT ALL WOULD BE APPRECIATED
Hello it's not that bad to do.you have .4 main mountings. And the rear radius arms .brake flexi hose. And handbrake cable.take it put as a complete assembly. Sadly I just scrapped. One good luck edshed
Atleast Jaguar got the shape right with the X-Type.....
