I noticed over the weekend that they rotated it a few times. Very neat to watch. What's The maximum load can they pick up? The only large equipment I've operated was a large Trackmobile.
First off I hope you get to feeling better sorry to hear that you’re in the hospital in the burn unit get well soon my friend second the maximum pic on my Crane that I’m running is 22,063 pounds at the tip of the jib I can pick 7000 pounds when you see the crane rotating at night by itself it’s in weathervane mode so it flows with the wind I hope that was helpful there’s lots of videos on this page of all kinds of lifts and I go into great detail how they work I hope that was helpful get well soon
Cool Videos man :) Luffer are a lot slower on the jib up/down but everything else is the same, hoist speed depend on the motor power and number of falls/cables. The luffer jib cranes are mostely used in country's were the law's restricts the use of private airspace like public roads and neighbours property's and that or in betwen buildings with restricted space, not just luffer jib cranes but also swan neck cranes can be used as same as the luffer jibs cranes. Luffer jib are known to have more structural strength like the jib wen pointing up can take a lot more load then wen is flat, it increases the structural strength but slow speeds on the jibes there us a lot of weight moving up/down 💪

when shutting down a tower cranes do you need to apply the luff brakes and hoist brakes? and then leave it in free slew?
You can apply the brakes but once you put it in weathervane the brakes will release
