    Loved watch those whitey ball Cardinals. It was so fun going to those games when I was just a kid. If anyone can be blessed by something so trivial, it's me.

    I grew up a Mets fan in the 1980s and this was definitely a heartbreaking season for the Mets. Over the years I began to respect the Cardinals organization more and more mainly for the fans and these 80s Whitey Ball teams because we will never see a team like these at the MLB level again sadly

      I feel the same about the Mets...i grew up and still am a Cards fan and as I got older I had to give the Pond Scum Mets all the respect because the gave my Cardinals all they could handle

    The Cardinals did a geat job doing so well despite key injurues and bench players stepping up. The Cards just could not win in the Minnesota dome stadium in the world series. Their Dome field advantage reminded me of the Kurt Warner days for the St. Louis Rams in the St. Louis Dome. The noise is defeaning.

    This was an incredible season. I was blessed to be able to attend Games 6 & 7 of the NLCS against the Giants and then Game 5 of the World Series. Cards won all three of those games. Biggest baseball thrill of my life. But during the regular season, this was a team of one miraculous comeback after another, as this video shows. You could always count one a game to be exciting with this squad. Think about this: '87 was a season of the juiced ball and set records (at that time) for home runs, yet the team that took the NL pennant was the ONLY team that hit fewer than 100 homers. That, of course, was the Cardinals. Man, I miss the game they played!

    This video is awesome...I would love to see one with Jack and Mike's KMOX calls.

      I still don't understand how they don't have all calls by Jack & Mike. Makes no sense.

    The Cards had the best record in the league despite a starter not winning more than 11 games (Mathews, Cox)

      The late Bob Forsch as well.

    13:43... for an organization that didn't hit many home runs, I swear half of all of our homers in the 80s were off LA relief pitcher

      This year was the beginning of the end for the Herzog era. Trading VanSlyke, Lavaillier and Dunn for Peña was a terrible trade. If we have those three the Cardinals are competing in 88’ and win the division in 89’.

    The Cardinals have the best fans in baseball, maybe in all of professional sports. Deeply knowledgeable and invested in their team. Packers fans are close. So are the Steelers and Cubs.

    Its hard too believe Ozzie Smith we tradedfor Garry Templeton worked out for the st louis cards and 1982 St louis won the world series but lost 1985 a bad call I-70 worlds series George Bret KC Royals Champs but lost 1987 Kirby Puckett Minnesota Twins.

    The Cards should have played the Detroit Tigers in the 1987 World Series, not the goddamn twins!!

    • @timallen609
      @timallen609 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nah we kicked the dogshit out of the Tigers in 5 games . Besides 4 in the dome is better than 3 in the Busch. Go Twins!

    • @jimsmith6603
      @jimsmith6603 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@timallen609 The twins only had 85 wins in 1987, the Tigers on the other hand had the best record in Major League Baseball in '87. I myself am against all of these goddamn divisions and wild-cards and super-duper wild-cards. It's a bunch of bullshit and has sadly cheapened the regular season ever since 1969.

      @@jimsmith6603 Who CARES. It's a way to keep MORE fans interested and MORE teams in the hunt come September. Do you want to see 24 teams literally have NOTHING to play for in August and September?? How BORING would THAT be now??

    • @ckendall67
      @ckendall67 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jimsmith6603 It's NOT pre-1969 anymore, baseball is supposed to change with the times like everything else. Baseball wants to appeal to MORE fans NOT less. Fans want to see MORE teams having something to play for late in the season instead of spending the whole season in 8th place with literally no chance of playing in the postseason. That's the way it was before 1969. Well NOT anymore. And never again. Baseball is NEVER going back to just having TWO teams in the postseason because THAT would be boring for the game. We want MORE teams and more excitement. That's the way it's SUPPOSED to be in the year 2021.
