Based, i was thinking that when i saw the video title, why don't they make movies about the incidents, payback, rockie port and god valley 🤔 maybe the other two would be a flop but godvalley would be a hit 100%
@@royalfun1031oda said we might not get the rockie port incident which is why he kind of broke it down into an SBS. make the rockie port incident into a movie and make it canon. It’ll do well
I want one piece movies in the style of the fan letter showing more of the straw hats day to day interaction. Best to make it a collection of short storys. Like how sanji is able to keep up with zoro who trains constantly by simply guarding the crews food supplys from luffy.
That would be awesome. And not even about the Straw Hats only, about the small characters just like Fan Letter did. Even on its measly 25 minutes run time, it's still better than any OP movie
I wouldn't be surprised if Oda and Toei will make another One Piece movie about a former Rocks Pirate member or a God's Knight member being the main antagonist for Luffy and his Straw Hats crew to fight and defeat.
That feels like the next logical step after Douglas Bullet, who admittedly was the antagonist of two movies prior, but it does make sense in terms of progression.
@@screech5212 I don't think that would happened this time here considering luffy is now a top teir who have advanced haki and awakened devil fruit This ain't gonna happened like shiki thing
Man i think of many movie ideas 1. God valley incident 2. Enel moon war with space pirates 3. Mihawk v shanks first meeting 4. Mihawk v previous strongest swordsman They dont have to base EVERY movie around the strawhats, you can make a side thing other crews especially past events i think that would be wild lore that fits perfectly within the series and giving abit of hype to the previous generations.
If only they did like the hunter x hunter movie about the previous spider before Hisoka. Like there's a lot to explore in the world that can be canon and relevant, instead of this save the world plot every time.
The god valley incident would without a doubt draw in a lot of attention and money. At this point, I'm pretty sure the only reason we haven't gotten that for a movie yet, is very likely because Oda intends on covering it in the manga, hence it can't be adapted as a movie
I think they are scared to not include strawhats, they dont adapt the cover stories to the anime bc of that, at the start of one piece they tried doing it with the buggy cover story and went bad financially.
just like yugioh anime kept focusing on boys playing the card game, even tho through out the years they crafted a lot of cards with rich lore behind it
actually they do, otherwise they won't get the money. A newly animated marineford movie would be interesting tho. Since it doesn't entirely revolve around the straw hats.
I still don’t understand how the movies and anime fillers don’t use the sea of stories Oda explicitly said he couldn’t dive into so he has to throw them away in a SBS. Like Kidd’s stories or the Rocky Port Incident. Both would make for awesome movies and would solve all the issues stated in the video. They would entice people with the canon-bait part by literally being a canon aspect of the story that never could have been dived into the manga proper.
Seems to me that it's likely because if they did the rock port incident or god valley it would be considered cannon because we don't have very much shown in the manga for those incidents. If they did a movie about them then it would be cannon and movies don't get to be cannon on one piece.
I personally think they should make films based on past canon events, step away from the straw hats maybe focus on things that happened during the two year time skip payback war, Akainu vs Kuzan etc
@@mencini7382 Just have the Strawhats appear at the beginning and then make it a Flashback :P Trick people into watching it thinking its the Straw Hats adventures! :P
@@mencini7382 You're telling me if we got to see Ace again, and he got to star in his own movie you would not watch it? Or you dont think casual one piece fans would watch it
I watched film Gold two nights ago, and knew there was a reason I liked it. It is basically a filler arc, but with a focus on the strawhats, and brilliant animation. Regrettably it has little focus on Tesoro, but it’s good moments outweigh the bad. It even had little cameos of characters such as Absalom when Luffy and Franky were scaling the tower. It’s unfortunate that we likely won’t get another movie like it again anytime soon
5:59 Douglas Bullet was The Z Broly of One Piece in a nutshell. Incredibly strong and incredibly hard to put down and it took a lot of effort for Luffy and his allies to stop him.
What got me to love the movie stampede was that Douglas Bullet started his fight without using his devil fruit, just his Haki, and he was dominating until he found an equal in Luffy's Snake Man.
one piece has at this point the reputation to make a movie without focusing on the strawhats, they could make canon movies of events we are not going to explore in the manga. Payback War and Rocky Port incident are prime candidates for that
I've only seen Film Red but my biggest issue with it is that the plot is clearly created to put as many fan favorite characters on screen as possible. When the plots constructed not to create a good, well written story but instead to have the audience clap and cheer whenever their favorite characters are on screen like it's a celebrity cameo in a sitcom, the actual story obviously suffers for it.
Issue is it's a movie plot for me I don't hate the film I love the music in it but that's also just because I like ado's music and voice, but I really don't get why they added the big mom pirates out of the entire one piece roster I only care about really 1 big mom pirate and that's kat and he was in it for like 2 or 3 scenes, do not care about oven and his sister I think it's because wano kinda soured my taste for big mom pirates. It's a fine one piece film but as a standalone product it's pretty average to below average as a movie. I'm also very torn on uta she is extremely weird to me I don't have issues with her being shanks adopted daughter but her actions make 0 sense in the grand scheme of things and felt forced, I also lowkey feel like she crushes hard on luffy but that's just headcanon
There's another issue with the One Piece films. When you only watch the anime or manga or heck even both, then you find out that a One Piece film drops, it's usually dropping in the middle of an arc, which makes 0 sense especially when it comes to Film Red where you have Big Mom be a part of the film as well as her "family", yet in the Manga/Anime we are already fighting Kaido if i recall. So the time line isn't very smooth for it. Not talking about how the Anime/Manga have no mention of the movies themselves.
The movies from Strong World on are officially considered alt-canon, where the events of the manga/anime are happening very slightly differently and out of order (for the convenience of the marketing). Each movie has a moment where the characters briefly mention events before they arrived, for context. And case in point, Oda drew a short story Uta in the manga canon with a slightly different history than Uta in the movies, meaning she's presumably still doing fine in the manga's world.
That's an issue with movies of ongoing manga in general, not just One Piece. Just look at the Dragon Ball movies that were made while that manga was still ongoing. Almost all of them are completely impossible to fit into the canon timeline, because even though that series has lots of timeskips, none of those really left an opportunity for the whole cast to come back together for an anime-exclusive story, so they didn't even *try* to make the movies canon-compliant. Instead, Toei just had each DBZ movie line up with the general vibe of whatever season of the anime was airing at the time. And that's set the standard for how almost all movies of shonen manga are done ever since, including One Piece. (The only exceptions being when a movie is a direct adaptation of a manga arc, or when the movie takes place after the manga ends.) That's generally just how it goes, because most manga have pretty limited space to insert filler stories that wouldn't contradict the canon.
They should just make movies about characters like ace, show aces crew take down hanafuda or make a movie about the rocky port incident, this would be more risky because the straw hats wont be involved but I think it would work because the movies could be 100% cannon
The story of Ace taking down Hanafuda would be the safest way to do a One Piece movie without the Straw Hats, because Ace remains massively popular. (15 years since he died, and he's still never dropped out of the top 10 in the popularity polls.) And Hanafuda means you've got a ready-made villain as well.
I love this community so much. The insane odds that Tekking and Liam both uploaded videos about the thing's about or in one piece that bother them. Amazing 👏 😂❤❤
Film Red is the first time that Gear 5th was revealed, although most missed it. During the duo fight scene where Shanks and Luffy both attacked the monster thing. Go rewatch it.
I wouldn't say most missed it, it made a lot of headlines if anything i'd say most didn't miss it unless they were unaware of gear 5 or straight up weren't present when shown
I think because it really plays with straw hats in a way that you don't see and it also came before the strawhats actually split up (if i remember correctly) and shows what happens to luffy when he loses what he cares about. It's also a pretty good anime horror film. I think not only as a one piece movie but anime movie in general it's pretty solid where i'd say most other one piece films are pretty average as actual films to below average. I think they played with secret island the most and it works it's just not one piece but I think that's a good thing because it does feel very unique and stands out plus the horror aspect of it I loved
The shitty things about these cameo characters are, they just came in, said their catchphrase like a game character, and left. Their dialogue is really the things that they have said in the manga.
I think the only way the next One Piece movie can be better (financially for the producers and for the audience) is if they adapt one of the many untold "incidents" that are scattered throughout the story. Something like a God valley movie or even about the 10 day battle between Kuzan and Sakazuki would be very good. There is so much potential because the story itself has such great world building that you don't even need the SHC to be there to get people interested i.e the Fan letter
Unless they make movies about actual canon events, for example god valley, i dont think the one piece movies will ever be more than just a spectacle Which is honestly fine for me. And its also why i think stampede was so good because it put all of its eggs in that basket and created a situation where we got all of these characters gathered in one place to have a huge battle
I would imagine that a God Valley movie will never happen because Oda plans to keep trickling out that story in flashbacks in the manga. And once the full reveal of the Rogers vs Rocks fight happens, the hype for a movie of it would vanish.
OP has the largest world building and character list of any modern story. Any one on a production team that suggests a non canon movie should have been immediately fired due to laziness and inability to be creative. Every non canon anime movie has been utter garbage.
In my opinion the perfect One Piece movie would be a Movie that tells a canon event that Oda Is not going to bother in showing on the Manga. Like, make a movie about The Rocky Port Incident. Or every major event that somehow happened Offscreem. Or a canon movie that Is like a Flashback so dosn't affects the events of the Manga. A movie that gives you a reason to watch it.
actually for all of the first three points. I almost didn't go to see Film Red because Katakuri was announced for it, I'm so sick of cameos. (also am I the only one who thinks Tesoro's backstory is super easy to get from the movie itself ?)
@@jnapoutiha5938 no you ain't, it's just that One Piece fans are used to super long detailed backstories (don't mean this to offend) so they probably got a bit confused when Tesoro's flashback was formatted the way it was.
@@massiveedgelord3622 yeah, it does feel more like the kind of backstory flash you'd seen in something like Bleach, but with a movie-length, I think doing it the way they did was the right move
Utas existence amounting to a single half panel shadow in the manga was crazy, that and the fact fill red messed with the ending of wano just to shoehorn in a shanks tie in was diabolical
13:15 I feel Its still personal with Tot Musica even with it being the big CGI raid boss battle. not in the sense that we have a grand clash of ideals against Uta, but rather that we have to save someone from themselves as theyve gone completely off the deep end, and their abilities as a result completely overwhelming them. What she wanted to do to world’s population is wrong yes, but from what we learn about her and how she interacted with the world throughout the movie, we see firmly how she would come to this conclusion. And because of the physical and ideological interference with her plans by Luffy, the Admirals and Shanks causing her to move further and further towards madness (as evidenced by the increasingly esoteric and evil vibes of each subsequent song in the movie), she was forced into pressing the Big Red FU Button to get the plan back on track.
Things that they could do for future movies(and still have our attention): 1)Past events that ODa can't tell like God Valley and Rookie Port incident; 2) adapting side stories into movies and expanding on them(like Enel traveling to the moon or CP9 post Enis Lobby; 3)Movies focusing on the Strawhats doring their training(I can't be the only one who wants to see a movie with Brook as the main character); 4)Adapting the novels(the Ace novel and the Law novels).
I completely agree with the closing thoughts, I watched Gold and Stampeede at home and found them a bit boring but later they screened them in our local cinema and the experience was fantastic, great films, very funny, would watch them again
One Piece Fan Letter did a great job even though it didn't have these big factors described by the man on the internet. It could also be expanded into a full movie and still be enjoyable. Seems like great writing is more dominant factor for a sucessful story and imo what directors need to is to focus on that rather than baits and big flashy actions.
Man, i wish I had seen film red when it came out. Idk why i didnt. It just... passed by and i no longer feel the need to watch it online. I've only watched a couple movies at my own home, and you mentioning the experience of watching an OP movie in the cinema with likeminded people made me realize part of why i dont hold any interest in catching up w the other movies. You've said they don't have much substance as movies or as canon, and that's what i was intuitively catching. What i was missing all along was the group experience which _makes_ it worth it. I dont know when the next one piece movie is gonna be made, let alone come out, but your conclusion that these movies aren't so much movies as _events_ has convinced me to go see it when it does. It's not about the story, it's about the -friends we made along the way- community.
Feel like the letter to nami episode is a great blueprint for a film, pick a major event, cover new characters experiencing it in ways we never thought of and cameo the straw hats
Eg One Piece Birdcage: a group of orphan children and their toys trying to sneak in to watch the coliseum, and surviving the birdcage from their perspective
8:00 I’m really surprised by that. I’ve always seen gold ranked highest out of the movies when I look online. It’s my personal favourite at the very least.
The One Piece movies need to start expanding rather than being such a capsule. You could make an entire movie series on the ace novels, law/kid’s adventures, or a prequel anthology series (a one piece zero focused on roger, rocks, garp, young shanks/kaido/big mom), or even just have a multipart movie about the straw hats so it doesnt feel like such a one off
Toei doesn't want to take that risk, because it would mean movies without the Straw Hats. They assume that a movie where Luffy isn't the main character would bomb.
@@RedXlV because it likely would unfortunately, regardless of how popular a character is, it's a hard sell to get people to see movies as it is, getting them to see a movie without luffy is even harder. It's also a massive risk on their part people can say they want something but still not show up, it happens a lot with media as a whole
@ I never understood that. Ace novels sold well. And whats the point of this giant cast if you do nothing with them? Manga also does the same thing, off the top of my head theres only like 1 or 2 volume covers without Luffy and I dont think there is a single volume without luffy in it (maybe the one covering Oden but that might be split into two)
@@nerdcorner2680 I mean seriously, Ace died *15 years ago* and he's still never fallen out of the top 10 most popular characters. And Law is more popular than half of the Straw Hats. A movie staring either of them would make bank.
There was a recent video of his where the villain tier list did make an appearance with a new entrant, but it wasn't Katakuri, so I do think a new one is on the way, just not with the Mochi man.
The part about the big movie monsters is kinda sad, honestly. Because one of the best fights in One Piece in my opinion actually was everyone vs giant monster...the fight against Orz in Thriller Bark. The thing is, though...that fight actually had more runtime than any of the movies. And thats not counting the buildup towards the fight that made it work so well. I feel like the only was to make that sort of fight really work is if it's given the time it needs to hit a lot of different notes. In a movie, I guess the closest thing that comes to mind would be something like the third Dragon Ball Super movie, where they spent about half the movie fighting Broly. Something like that is the only way I can really see one super huge fight working, by giving it the room it needs to breath, and actually make the story revolve around that fight, rather than tag it onto the story at the end for bonus points on flashiness. Like, make the whole movie about them trying to stop something like the island eating goldfish they met after Little Garden. Might actually solve most of the issues you addressed in the video.
Film Gold has always been my favorite of the new films. Partially because of the (relatively) smaller scale, but also because of the setting. The Casino vibes, and the heist section later on are so fun. The you have Tesoro, whose backstory is so simple but emotional and makes sense in that world. Add to that the incredible soundtrack by Yuki Hayashi, and it's a great time. A shame it seems so underrated in the fanbase.
The next film will be One Piece Film Blue !!! Counterpart to red about shanks this one would be all about buggy. It will have an almost identical flashback as red where we see Roger and Rayleigh from a baby’s point of view and then it will be revealed that there were two babies on god valley and they never knew which one (buggy or shanks) was the child of a world noble and which one wasn’t (maybe rocks’ kid?). The big twist in the series will be that buggy is actually a figarland- or wait maybe buggy will be revealed as Roger’s first kid? Idk either way it will be something hilarious
I think a big issue is that 2 of the most hype parts of one piece, lore dumps and powerups, cannot be included in the movies, except with canon bait. Like, after each one piece arc you feel like the world is different because it is so interconnected. Even a relatively isolated arc like alabasta had the ramifications on the warlord system, introducing Ace, a new crew member, and the poneglyphs. However, every movie villain and character comes from the shadows, has a big fight, and then basically stops existing.
Some plots for the future movies that don't require extensive cameos, have minimal/no affect on the ongoing story, don't require a world threatening villian or any of those. 1. The story of how Zoro trained himself to become a three-sword style swordsman and how he earned the title of "Pirate Hunter" a name by which he is still well known across the one piece world. 2. How Mihawk became the world's greatest swordsman and acquired the Black Blade after mastering swordsmanship. 3. The God Vally Incident. These are few ideas but there are countless mysteries in one piece that should have a movie of their own. Seeing how close we are to actually claiming the One Piece, all these mysteries can be turned into movies and maybe have annual releases with every Jump Festo or something. Maybe you can drop a post asking the Grand Fleet which mystery they want as a movie and then explore those exciting ideas in a future video 🤷🏻♂️
My ideas for a One Piece film: -God Valley Incident (may need to be split into 2 or 3 films) -Rocky Port Incident - this would be the major event that happened during the timeskip & I think whilst the focus should be on Wang Xhi, Blackbeard, Koby & Law you can a few more characters in like maybe we find out that this is where Weevil first caught the attention of the WG to become a warlord. -A film where the strawhats are being systematically hunted down by the World's best bounty hunters. The monster trio are taken out of the picture very early on and don't return until the final battle, so that the other strawhats can get development.
The movies could have been a great way for Oda to feed us cannon infomation that is too insignificant for the main series, like he does in the SBS. Instead of revealing Zoros lineage in the SBS he could easily have made a movie about that for example. That way the movies would still create an incentive to watch them with cannon reveals while not "forcing" you to watch them since the reveals are too inconsequential for the main series
They made Uta canon and shiki but the best canonical of all is Foxy, to make sense of how the Rocks pirates came to be ,the Davy back fight before Kaido Joined in.(Young Kaido was recommended by Bigmom back then)
something I feel could be a nice change of pace is having the main villain still do their giant monster thing, have everyone contribute etc... Only for Luffy to punch through the entire monster and knock the villain out of it, but the fight still goes on - now with Luffy and the big bad, using the carcass of the giant monster as the final battle arena, maybe utilizing pieces of it to help the villain pose a bigger challenge to Luffy? Maybe even requiring other Straw Hats to come and pitch into the fight?
Here's an idea. All the big events that we all want to see played out that were off screened or that we don't think that we have the time to actually delve into. They can make movies out of that! They can make a movie about the payback war about the Rocky Port incident and especially they can make an entire movie about the God Valley incident
One Piece movie ideas that would absolutely own in sales while still being “canon”: - The Payback War - Rocky Port Incident - Blackbeard crew backstories (prob gonna happen in manga tho) - God Valley (if Oda decides not to flesh it out more in manga) - Noland adventures? - any of the Yonko Crews backstory adventures (kaido PLEASE) - Enel cover story - CP9 aftermath/coverstory + fleshed out backstories for the members - Revolutionary Army liberation adventures - Robin surviving from kid to adulthood - Nami’s adventures working for Arlong Oda developed one of the richest worlds in storytelling and it is absolutely criminal behavior that we get filler-esque movies when we could just get movies that expand upon the already canon material that just hasn’t been fully explored, with the caveat that they’re technically non-canon unless Oda signs off on them.
I think the perfect solution for the hype issue of the movies is to make movies out of the things that are cannon events in the series, but haven't been shown in the manga/anime. Seeing the Godvalley incident, or the cp9 timeskip events would be amazing to see animated. The only thing I could think that might counteract it would be that Luffy wouldn't be the front man :(

There is so much potential for One Piece movies. Even if they didnt want to show us canon past events or side stories that we will probably never witness in the manga, I think there are multiple things you could do without a movie being too predictible: 1. Create one movie per straw hat: each strawhat would have his own adventure and their own unique ways to beat the villain if you must have it. This way you could create a mini movie series and not worry about other strawhats' screentime. It could be a present time story or a past story 2. Create 'what if' movies: e.g., make a character do something which will lead everybody lose their haki and DF abilities, and then focus on just hand-to-hand combat or primary weapons like swords and guns. Make strawhats marines or bounty hounters, etc.
I think they have the same main problem that most movies have and that is that most movies either need to be longer(example like 2 hours or more)or be at least 2 movies. This almost always fixes all problems(example to many main characters be it good or bad guys that you dont see or lean enough to understand motives or for character growth.)
Honestly, they *should* just ask Oda for permission to use Silver Axe as the villain of the next movie. That way they could have an actual canon Rocks Pirate. Worst that could happen is for Oda to say no because he either already has plans or that Silver Axe already died.
I can totally imagine toei animating the Rocky Port Incident, naming it FIlm Rocks and marketing it as some sort of Rocks origin story only for it to be Blackbeard revealing he's Rocks son or some shit.
I’d like to hope that one day they do a character exploration of one straw hat for the movies. Have the plot be personal to, say, Nami (or Zora, chopper, Usopp etc). That feels like the only way they can reliably de-escalate the movies for a while before a re-escalation
I love how Film Gold, the one most focused on the idea of money and wealth in the story, was the one that made the least. and on another note, it gave us one of Zoro's best moments.
It’s such a bummer that Film Gold didn’t do as good as the other movies because it is genuinely so much fun. Great focus on the straw hats, super stylish, has a grand-scale casino theme which is the essence of fun, and is a goddamn heist movie. Along with that, it really does feel like an early one piece arc in a sense, despite being pretty well into the post timeskip. As much as I love the other movies, Film Gold is definitely my favorite 🤩
A rocky port movie would be cool since we're not getting it fully fleshed out in the manga. The only problem would be no straw hats. Other than that it would have a lot of grest things going for it. The whole thing wouldnt need to pepper in grains of canon, because the event itself is canon. + We could see a Rocks member we possibly havent before. It already has built in "Cameos" (Theyd just be the main characters of the movie) with Law, Koby and Blackbeard. And you can plop in a Gein if youre feeling spicy. There could still be a giant monster (San Jaun/Pizarro) but theyre giant monsters we know.
I can't understand how they are not making a movie on the time skip. I would love to watch the training everyone went through even if the movie didn't have climactic ending. In any action movie everyone loves the training bits.
After this video I’m curious on your opinion on the current state of one piece video games. Story wise I do feel that they face a lot of similar issues to the movies (the ones that have an original story that is). My biggest issue with the one piece games is that they’re never dubbed (although this is a problem for a lot of anime games, unless it’s dragon ball or Naruto it’s not gonna get dubbed). As much as I respect the Japanese cast it’s annoying whenever there’s a cutscene that goes too fast for me to read! Also the funimation one piece cast is very underrated. It’s so rare for a dub cast to be around this long and be able to build up such a good vocal chemistry with each other! Also the one piece dub has some freedoms I think other current dubs don’t like these guys can get away with a ad libbed line here and there and it’s usually hilarious!
New movie villain by one piece logic of "always more bigger" could possibly be a giant an enlarging type of fruit power. OR, just to see where this could go, meaby some type of Oars or a giant creature who eat a fruit that minimize him, with the strenght growing in proportion on how much he shrink.
I think they should make a movie about scenes that are probably not comming up in the Story again like when maybe Oda doesnt want to show the Rocky Port incedent they make a movie out of it
rite before u mentioned film gold i was thinking hm, maybe i'll rewatch film gold! haha the simpler concept is exactly why i like that one. i just rewatched baron omatsuri and the secret island yesterday and i just cant believe how good that one is! its such a visually stunning movie with such snappy amazing characterizations of all the strawhats!!!! i wish we'd see more of a character study angle like that, i think theres way more to work with in that lane.
The only thing that could excite me about the next One Piece movie is if Megumi Ishitani directs it. She is the only one who could break all these trends and still make everyone love it. She already proved that with Fan Letter, and you really feel like she gets Oda's style more than anyone else in the business.
I personally think it’d be cool to see some characters make appearances from a simple name drop to being in a flashback like Shiki and Uta being in somewhat canon. Z is a retired formal navy instructor, Gild Tesoro was an underground boss like Doffy and he heard what happened to Doffy, Saga was from Shimotsuki Village and Zoro’s best friend, and Douglass Bullet was apart of the Roger Pirates who had HEAVY HITTERS like Roger himself, Rayleigh, Gaban, and Oden. These are just a few characters from the movies I liked and it would’ve been nice to have a name drop or scene of these guys in the actual anime but they weren’t given the Shiki and Uta treatment
That's because those characters weren't made by Oda to be canon, so he doesn't include them in the story. Shiki was a pre-existing character that Oda decided to put in the movie, while Uta only got a silhouette, which implies to me that while, yes, she's canon, Oda will probably not do anything with her in the manga.
Young Figarland Garling was basically evil Shanks with a weird hairdo, they look almost identical. It was obvious at a glance that they're related somehow.
Fan Letter was a missed opportunity to make a OP movie that breaks the mold of “canon bait” or “world ending”. God Valley is a decent opportunity to be canon and filler. If they don’t bring back Enel then that could be the same. A movie about the establishment of the Yonko where Shanks beats one to become one would be cool but that would depend on available Shanks canon information
It's interesting that you felt like Film Red upped the ante. I perceived it differently, like yeah the risk would have effected more people but it wasn't really a plan to destroy the world. It was kind of accidentally a possibility in the end because of the big bad monster route they ended up going down like you point out. Which I do agree with you makes me feel like we were robbed of the fight against Uta where she could have controlled the dream world. But I loved how both Gold and Red were more localized physically, with the casino or the concert, so it would be sad if the only thing they feel they can do is just make it more and more of a global catastrophe. I hope they can one day make another movie similar to Movie 6, where we have a more emotional investment in the crew we love rather than needing to focus so much on the rest of the world. Btw, Film Gold actually does have a short like 1 minute segment where it goes over Tesoro's back story and it is probably the best part of the movie. It makes you want to know more, and I know I wished that they covered more of it in the movie for sure. It was a shame and felt like a waste to not have more of it.
Baron Omatsuri was artpiece. I would go to cinema just for that. They should make movies about roger, old stories of admirals, parallel stories like fan letter. Much better than saving world stuff.
The God Valley Incident As a movie Would break the box office💀🗣️

Fr, I haven't watched any of the movies but I used to average 15-20 episodes a day when I was still catching up
totally relatable😂 I'm on dressorosa but took the time yesterday to watch film Z. Have to say it was worth it!
I'd love to see movies based on off screen manga events like the Payback War or the Rocky Port Incident
I wouldn't be surprised if Oda and Toei will make another One Piece movie about a former Rocks Pirate member or a God's Knight member being the main antagonist for Luffy and his Straw Hats crew to fight and defeat.
That's much closer to the horizon than most of us think.
That feels like the next logical step after Douglas Bullet, who admittedly was the antagonist of two movies prior, but it does make sense in terms of progression.
Movie on Rocky Port incident
They better not pull a shiki, freaking gear 2 Luffy washing the same dude who rivaled roger.
@@screech5212
I don't think that would happened this time here
considering luffy is now a top teir who have advanced haki and awakened devil fruit
This ain't gonna happened like shiki thing
Man i think of many movie ideas
1. God valley incident
2. Enel moon war with space pirates
3. Mihawk v shanks first meeting
4. Mihawk v previous strongest swordsman
They dont have to base EVERY movie around the strawhats, you can make a side thing other crews especially past events i think that would be wild lore that fits perfectly within the series and giving abit of hype to the previous generations.
Because without the strawhats the movies wouldn't do well
It's because they're afraid to make a movie without Luffy and the Straw Hats.
Because a large part of any fanbase are casuals,no straws bad ticket sales simple.
What is SBS?
The problem is the movies act like they have super interesting canon changing information and than the manga treats them like the fillers they are
The movies aren't canon

Really caught me off-guard, nice opener man-on-the-internet. Got a laugh out of me.
One Piece movies: *exist*
One Piece fanfic writers: "It's a free real estate."
It doesn’t help people use them to back their ships or power scale even those there not canon
It would be amazing to have a movie about the Rocky Port incident or any other event that wont be covered in the manga
The Rocky Port Incident being referenced in the series so much kinda reminds me of the Jockstrap incident in DBZ Abridged. XD
I personally think they should make films based on past canon events, step away from the straw hats maybe focus on things that happened during the two year time skip payback war, Akainu vs Kuzan etc
Great idea on paper, but no one is going to produce it as it would be a guaranteed failure financially
It won't get butts in seats unfortunately. 😂
At most, those sound like specials. None long enough to be actual films.
Just make a movie about Buggy D Goat and make a Bugzillion dollars. Simple.
😂
5:59 Douglas Bullet was The Z Broly of One Piece in a nutshell. Incredibly strong and incredibly hard to put down and it took a lot of effort for Luffy and his allies to stop him.
So kaidou? Bland brick wall who was strong and yells a lot
What got me to love the movie stampede was that Douglas Bullet started his fight without using his devil fruit, just his Haki, and he was dominating until he found an equal in Luffy's Snake Man.
He was more of a mix between Jiren and a film version of Kaido.
@@jeremyknight9980youre cringe af
@@owadqoiiqwdip How was that cringe?
one piece has at this point the reputation to make a movie without focusing on the strawhats, they could make canon movies of events we are not going to explore in the manga.
Agreed 💯
That describes Stampede as well
There's another issue with the One Piece films.
(The only exceptions being when a movie is a direct adaptation of a manga arc, or when the movie takes place after the manga ends.)
That's generally just how it goes, because most manga have pretty limited space to insert filler stories that wouldn't contradict the canon.
That's not an issue because the movies are not canon
They should just make movies about characters like ace, show aces crew take down hanafuda or make a movie about the rocky port incident, this would be more risky because the straw hats wont be involved but I think it would work because the movies could be 100% cannon
The story of Ace taking down Hanafuda would be the safest way to do a One Piece movie without the Straw Hats, because Ace remains massively popular. (15 years since he died, and he's still never dropped out of the top 10 in the popularity polls.) And Hanafuda means you've got a ready-made villain as well.
@@RedXlV you can also just follow the standard arc formula
I love this community so much. The insane odds that Tekking and Liam both uploaded videos about the thing's about or in one piece that bother them. Amazing 👏 😂❤❤
Film Red is the first time that Gear 5th was revealed, although most missed it. During the duo fight scene where Shanks and Luffy both attacked the monster thing. Go rewatch it.
You are half right. While Gear 5th had not yet been shown in the anime it had been revealed a few months prior in the manga.
I wouldn't say most missed it, it made a lot of headlines if anything i'd say most didn't miss it unless they were unaware of gear 5 or straight up weren't present when shown
Having a movie about the Rocks pirates and ending it with the God valley incident would make bank.
Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island was a good movie
It was so good
What if the final war is like this
Nah it was a great movie
I must be the only one who hates it.
Oh I forgot about that masterpiece! The animation was wonderful, and the character exploration there was ough
The shitty things about these cameo characters are, they just came in, said their catchphrase like a game character, and left. Their dialogue is really the things that they have said in the manga.
The ending of this video is why I love this guy on the internet lol 14:37
Hahaha just finished and was thinking the same thing
I think the only way the next One Piece movie can be better (financially for the producers and for the audience) is if they adapt one of the many untold "incidents" that are scattered throughout the story. Something like a God valley movie or even about the 10 day battle between Kuzan and Sakazuki would be very good. There is so much potential because the story itself has such great world building that you don't even need the SHC to be there to get people interested i.e the Fan letter
Unless they make movies about actual canon events, for example god valley, i dont think the one piece movies will ever be more than just a spectacle
Which is honestly fine for me.
I need to see more law ❤
See, this escalation problem is why Film Gold is my favorite of the latest movies
actually for all of the first three points.
One thing is definite true, another One Piece movie comes before Morj’s Wano Analysis.
Things that they could do for future movies(and still have our attention):
1)Past events that ODa can't tell like God Valley and Rookie Port incident;
2) adapting side stories into movies and expanding on them(like Enel traveling to the moon or CP9 post Enis Lobby;
3)Movies focusing on the Strawhats doring their training(I can't be the only one who wants to see a movie with Brook as the main character);
4)Adapting the novels(the Ace novel and the Law novels).
0:19 opinion was different, now it is stopped. 🛑
I completely agree with the closing thoughts, I watched Gold and Stampeede at home and found them a bit boring but later they screened them in our local cinema and the experience was fantastic, great films, very funny, would watch them again

Same! It took me back to how I felt watching movies as a kid. A great time all the way down
One Piece Fan Letter did a great job even though it didn't have these big factors described by the man on the internet. It could also be expanded into a full movie and still be enjoyable.
Seems like great writing is more dominant factor for a sucessful story and imo what directors need to is to focus on that rather than baits and big flashy actions.
sad film gold didnt do well. i really liked that one. i feel like more contained stories that actually make sense within the story would be great
Man, i wish I had seen film red when it came out.
"we are all joyboy" killed me. Loved this video Liam, very insightful. Would love more videos like this
8:00 I’m really surprised by that.

One piece Movies should just show us past events, like Akainu vs Aokiji or the Rocky Port incodent
Film red confirming shanks was a celestial dragon was actually big news though...
Next movie, Panda-monium: The Secret Life of Pandaman.
I’m thinking Straw Hat Crew meets Pandaman and they have a 007 type adventure.
My ideas for a One Piece film:
-God Valley Incident (may need to be split into 2 or 3 films)
-Rocky Port Incident - this would be the major event that happened during the timeskip & I think whilst the focus should be on Wang Xhi, Blackbeard, Koby & Law you can a few more characters in like maybe we find out that this is where Weevil first caught the attention of the WG to become a warlord.
-A film where the strawhats are being systematically hunted down by the World's best bounty hunters. The monster trio are taken out of the picture very early on and don't return until the final battle, so that the other strawhats can get development.
Dead End Adventure and Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island are the kinds of OP movies I feel like we need more of honestly
LMAO love the magikaido shirt, fits him perfectly 😂
Make a Canon film about the rocky port incident since oda said he wouldn't put it in the manga
I really hope the next film of the rocky port incident

WHUUUUT
They made Uta canon and shiki but the best canonical of all is Foxy, to make sense of how the Rocks pirates came to be ,the Davy back fight before Kaido Joined in.(Young Kaido was recommended by Bigmom back then)
Gold was one of my favs. Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island was also one of my favorites.
I have come here for my recommended daily dose of One Piece content into my TH-cam feed
something I feel could be a nice change of pace is having the main villain still do their giant monster thing, have everyone contribute etc...
One Piece movie ideas that would absolutely own in sales while still being “canon”:
- The Payback War
- Rocky Port Incident
- Blackbeard crew backstories (prob gonna happen in manga tho)
- God Valley (if Oda decides not to flesh it out more in manga)
- Noland adventures?
- any of the Yonko Crews backstory adventures (kaido PLEASE)
- Enel cover story
- CP9 aftermath/coverstory + fleshed out backstories for the members
- Revolutionary Army liberation adventures
- Robin surviving from kid to adulthood
- Nami’s adventures working for Arlong
Oda developed one of the richest worlds in storytelling and it is absolutely criminal behavior that we get filler-esque movies when we could just get movies that expand upon the already canon material that just hasn’t been fully explored, with the caveat that they’re technically non-canon unless Oda signs off on them.
I think the perfect solution for the hype issue of the movies is to make movies out of the things that are cannon events in the series, but haven't been shown in the manga/anime. Seeing the Godvalley incident, or the cp9 timeskip events would be amazing to see animated. The only thing I could think that might counteract it would be that Luffy wouldn't be the front man :(
Sakazuki: "That Uta girl can imprison 70% of humanity in a dream world, huh? My ass better stay in this office!! Or I'm FINISHED!!""
There is so much potential for One Piece movies. Even if they didnt want to show us canon past events or side stories that we will probably never witness in the manga, I think there are multiple things you could do without a movie being too predictible:
1. Create one movie per straw hat: each strawhat would have his own adventure and their own unique ways to beat the villain if you must have it. This way you could create a mini movie series and not worry about other strawhats' screentime. It could be a present time story or a past story
I personally think the next movie's villain will be a non cannon Rock's pirate..
Honestly, they *should* just ask Oda for permission to use Silver Axe as the villain of the next movie. That way they could have an actual canon Rocks Pirate. Worst that could happen is for Oda to say no because he either already has plans or that Silver Axe already died.
6:25 Didn't Film Red also reveal us the names of the other crew members of the Red Hair Pirates besides Ben, Lucky and Mr.Deadbeat.
That's exactly what I want to see too 💖💯
Next movie have to be a cannon event for a change like the Rocky Port Incident.
I love how Film Gold, the one most focused on the idea of money and wealth in the story, was the one that made the least. and on another note, it gave us one of Zoro's best moments.
Id like like to see a movie on Gecko Moria vs Kaido
Also get a guilty pleasure out of Stampede, but it is weird that my best waxy boy Galdino gets more lines of dialogue than half the Strawhats.
I wish the movies were either about the background / story / life of secondary characters, or about alternative timelines.
That last line, man you got me laughing on that one
It’s such a bummer that Film Gold didn’t do as good as the other movies because it is genuinely so much fun. Great focus on the straw hats, super stylish, has a grand-scale casino theme which is the essence of fun, and is a goddamn heist movie. Along with that, it really does feel like an early one piece arc in a sense, despite being pretty well into the post timeskip. As much as I love the other movies, Film Gold is definitely my favorite 🤩
They should use movies to tell off-screen event. Like Coby becoming marine hero, 2 year training for straw hat, etc…
I totally agree with you on all points! I didn't even enjoy film red as much as I enjoyed sitting in a theater and watching it on the big screen
Film Gold is my favorite out of all those movies, the fact that it’ll probably never happen again is pretty sad
