First off, this is for a type of spear fishing using small darts and a sling shot. However, I was intrigued by the concept and made one. Doing so I learned some things. 1. Put it under your wrist. 2. Get the strap tight to stabilize it. 3. Hold the lure in the same hand, push and release the release button and then throw the lure/bait. It won't go as far as with a pole, but you might be surprised. Or twirl the lure/bait, like in the video, and throw. 4. When retrieving the lure, or while you let the bait set, hold the line between 2 fingers. When a fish strikes you can then set the hook. This will be somewhat better than hand line fishing, but having a good pole is better. But, in some circumstances I see this as a valid option.

I disagree on the regular bow and arrow. Example: My recurve I use for hog and deer hunting has a 65 lb draw. Even with alligator gar I'd say 35 pounds is the max to punch a fishing arrow through a shell

I used to fish with a plastic bottle, the line was wrapped around the bottle, I would lasso throw the line and use my hand to hook it, keep some tension on the line to feel the bite.

Put it on your right wrist and strap it sideways to your wrist so that the reel is on the outside and then leave the string through your hand while you fish so you can feel the bite and hook it and reel it in with your left hand
You are missing a third component which is the "Fishing Darts" lol. Your Slingshot also needs modifications to support the fishing dart. Type in TH-cam search "Fishing Darts" to see how this old method is used to catch fish. You'll be surprised how fun it is.

Pinch the line in between your finger at you cast it and when you get a bite been your arm back towards your chest and fall backwards that's how you fish with this real it's like using a hand line to fish

Wear under your wrist instead on top. You will get more control for casting and reel the fish in. If it not work, try the other hand. I use it for slingshot fishing then find out i can fishing with it too, I cast the lure more accuracy with slingshot just like you did, but use smaller soft body bait to easy set the hook. When casting by hand, I just use one hand, the one wearing the reel.

everyone saying it's a bowfishing rig that is incorrect. it is obviously a scuba diving fishing rig. go underwater hold your breath for about 10 or 15 minutes find a fish, What It Takes the bait just move your arms it scares a fish and it sets itself and then reel it in. it's popular in China because everyone knows the Chinese can hold their breath for a very long time up to 25 minutes or more

This is not a "Bow" fishing reel . It is used for Pana Dart fishing. Basicallt you shoot a nail at the fish with a slingshot or rubber band.
LMFAO Spool it with some braid put a whole blue on the hook and hang on for the ride while a good size shark taxis you around.
A slingshot and crossbow arrow with a bowfishing hook at the end. I actually have one I take to the rivers for when I see gar and carp. It works.

Use a bait thrower and ik its a bowfishing reel and to set the hook pull the line realy hard
Use live bait like shrimp. But use a circle hook. A circle hook allows the fish to hook itself, and you only give a slow tug.
This is not bow fishing, but slingshot spear fishing with small spear unlike bowfishing with larger arrows.

This reel is for dart fishing. You tie the line to a steel dart and you use a slingshot to fire it. Then reel the fish in.
It is designed to be used like one does a hand line . So just jerk it back past your hip to set the line.
Just so you know what some or a lot of people do is use a bow and have the arrow to the reel then you shoot the fish and reel it using the wrist rod

what your using is usualy used on slingshot guns i have one its attached on to my slingshot gun and usualy they are made for hapooning/spearing
