Me and my best friend slept in here in our late 20's it was amazing , to feel the nearness of the ancestors. yes we were weird hippies . I just thought I'd write somethin for any stoners who find their way here .
i remember being on top of the dip at the center of the barrow and being told about a local victorian farm owner who would after visiting the local pub would on his trip home, jump over the monument and at speed in his horse drawn buggy . (i do not know how true this is), it took us a few moments before we realised that in our own small way we were damaging it just like the old farmer
I slept there after celebrating the summer solstice in 2007 sheltering from the rain with several others. When I awoke everyone had gone but then some people arrived at the entrance saying 'there's a body over there & it moved' meaning me awakening from my slumber. I think I scared them unintentionally.
Please imagine when it was all canals, streams and moats connecting it all and controlling the swampy landscape and making travel, farming and stone moving easier.
The evening of the summer solstice 2007 I was talking to a woman in the barrow & she said look behind you which I did & there was a long shadow of a figure in the candlelight, which I had noticed before briefly. There was no one else standing in that spot, we agreed that it was the spirit of the barrow that appears on the summer solstice. we weren't frightened but just amazed.
Modern religions stole the resurrection story from Ancient stone age. The opening represents the vulva, when the sun illuminates it, it represents fertility and therefore resurrection. It's fertilized and brought back to life along with the people who are placed there after life.

[ ] from where you stand, makes all the sense. beautiful, beautiful ritual. save those tears but drink those waters, before your feet, and climge that mountain in a true manley hunters fashion, a sweaty affair possibly, put in the effort with the ancesteros in the sky, vapor connect into cloud. wataer emotions music. intelligently. dance your dance on top or whatever, or... how about that one, take your time for climb, have a good time. and on top,, orion. urin on, get it ? even older hides get up they-hir too. beautiful. perfect and complete. oh thats the same word. i forget.
