I've been cooking for about 65 years (but not in a camp oven until recent years) and I successfully tried your damper in the camp oven because I agree wholeheartely with your method of mixing it, and NOT kneading it! Great success! I was also successful in using just a sprinkle of flour and then hanging the preheated oven with a tripod a certain height over the coals, didn't need as much flour in the bottom of the oven. Your way is the best.
Thanks very much for you comment and I’m glad you liked it King Brown is one with knowledge his recipe for bread rolls is fantastic also search him out on TH-cam @campovenking th-cam.com/video/rHZzDdAL73E/w-d-xo.html And thanks 🙏 for watching
Awesome job! No BS just informative and full of nothing but experience which is the best teacher, thanks very much for sharing your knowledge. Much appreciated 👍
Oldman_pottering thanks mate he is a veteran when it comes to Cooking in a Camp Oven and a great Bloke to thanks for both watching and your great comment cheers 🍺
I bake very nice sourdough, in my cast iron camp oven, in my gas oven at home. I have had some failures when camp baking over coals. Today I am following this method of baking, particularly the loose flour in the base of the camp oven.
3_ hustles yes Viv it’s a great trick and works very well for scones (you guys call em biscuits) Tomorrow night we’re having a party and that Bloke is doing the cooking 24” ovens and he makes a great bread roll
Where are the herbs and garlic, Ronnie? Just joking mate. It looks fabulous. Smear of Aussie butter and Vegemite while it's still warm and you have fair dinkum Aussie tucker. I look forward to your video on making bush tea in a billy.
Helga's Pennsylvania Cooking yes well the best thing about the Aussie Damper is after the basic 3 ingredients Flour Salt n water you can add savoury or a sweet touch to it
Phil Porter GDay mate no it’s quite easy I thought the same thing when I saw it but when I did a couple it wiped straight of (if you have a clean well seasoned oven) thanks for watching hey and you can check this guy out at many of the shows he goes to throughout Queensland facebook.com/KingbrownCampOvenKitchen/

lol, well you can try feeding a dirty damper from a fire pit to a gang of cranky shearers or a mustering camp if you want but I think i will stick to doing it my way :)
