This is *THE* best version on the net! Magnificent job,all the synth parts are in place, the sound is generally exact like the original. I've been searching for this a long time! There are several instrumental versions of this on youtube, but this version is the only one worth singing to. It has the same melancholic feel as the original. A hard job very well done, huge compliments!
!!! F A N T A S T I C !!! work ! It's soooo close to the original, how is this possible ?! Guess you are a great musician with absolute phenomenal skills to listen AND reproduce the complicated soundstructure of ABBA. Many thanks for sharing this with us ! Can't wait for another one: Dancing Queen ? ;-)
While we are waiting for some more from Timur, there are some quite good versions of DANCING QUEEN available on YT with the vocals silenced digitally. They're not as good as Timur's masterpieces but still something. :) Greetings.
I agree with everyone here - you are so incredibly talented Timur and this is the closest to the real thing that has ever been created - well done! Listening very closely, I am able to pin-point what I think are some of the minor differences here in your recreation vs. the original. Of course, people hear things uniquely and someone else may completely disagree with what I've picked up on. And I totally don't expect you to go back and rework this masterpiece you've obviously put a lot of great work into a year ago now :-P Just a few random little nuances I felt were present when I listened closely to your amazing work here: ● The higher-octive "wobbly" synth overlay sound (god this is going to be terribly silly and difficult to describe with my limited mastery of legit music composition terminology - I apologize in advance, lol) - the tone slides up and down (glissandos?) are slightly too smooth. The original has more of a counting effect in it (1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4 &) - (there's a slight snap into the fluctuating tone, whereas the synth you've used is smoother/sounds a little bit more like a slide-whistle here. I think the original achieves this slightly more rigid sliding of the pitch by implementing just a tiny dash of vibrato - that might what is lacking here. The very final tone in each little synth-lick-phrase here: your synth-effect finds its final pitch resting place a little too smoothly - the original (I think because of the vibrato) doesn't quite fall into place as quickly - it wobbles, creating a little "minor"/"major"fluctuation (the effect kind of sounds like micro-digital-sampling of a reel-to-reel tape slowing down, I think). I think maybe if you layered your synth a tiny bit more that might help as well . That little flub of vibrato which I think is not quite right here, is (I think) an important element overall because all those little micro-wobbles ultimately combined help to play a major role in building/setting the overall dissonant/mysterious/gloomy mood of the whole track. I think that tiny adjustment would make a big difference here overall. ● The same rhythm/note as the "wobbly" synth sound mentioned above, but the octaves-down "tubular bell" sound/early-80s "bong bong" sound - yours is not quite "tubular" enough, or I guess the embouchure of the tubular bell needs to be a little bit more vertical - it needs a slight more bit of depth/resonance in it's "bong". I think the original has a bit more bass present where yours sounds a little more mid-range. ● The drum kit/beats - I think your snare hits are just slightly brighter and louder when compared to the original - they sound just slightly too prominent overall. However, on the little counter-time snare "fill-ins" that end each little melodic segment - I think on the original they're actually a little more prominent/brighter (there's more of a "pop," almost more of a gun-shot type snare feeling) than the ones used here in your work. ● I think the original just layers each instrumental "voice" a little more. There's just slightly a little more depth I think as a result, on the original.. ● Frida's ephemeral operatic "ahhs" are critical to building the purely magical/mysterious/dissonant mood of the track - but it'd be really hard to recreate a Frida. She's just special :-P Those were just some of my first-take, little minute takeaway difference findings, which I then rudely shared with you, completely unsolicited 🙊😬😳🙂 But really - you're so very talented and I'm so happy to have TH-cam black-hole-vortex stumbled upon your fine work :)

Listening very closely, I am able to pin-point what I think are some of the minor differences here in your recreation vs. the original. Of course, people hear things uniquely and someone else may completely disagree with what I've picked up on. And I totally don't expect you to go back and rework this masterpiece you've obviously put a lot of great work into a year ago now :-P
Just a few random little nuances I felt were present when I listened closely to your amazing work here:
● The higher-octive "wobbly" synth overlay sound (god this is going to be terribly silly and difficult to describe with my limited mastery of legit music composition terminology - I apologize in advance, lol) - the tone slides up and down (glissandos?) are slightly too smooth.
She's just special :-P
Those were just some of my first-take, little minute takeaway difference findings, which I then rudely shared with you, completely unsolicited 🙊😬😳🙂

The Day Before You Came

And having gotten through the editorial, no doubt I must have frowned
I must have made my desk around a quarter after nine
With letters to be read, and heaps of papers waiting to be signed
I must have gone to lunch at half past twelve or so
The usual place, the usual bunch
And still on top of this I'm pretty sure it must have rained
The day before you came
I must have lit my seventh cigarette at half past two
And at the time I never even noticed I was blue
I must have kept on dragging through the business of the day
Without really knowing anything, I hid a part of me away
At five I must have left, there's no exception to the rule
A matter of routine, I've done it ever since I finished school
The train back home again
Undoubtedly I must have read the evening paper then
Oh yes, I'm sure my life was well within it's usual frame
The day before you came
Must have opened my front door at eight o'clock or so
And stopped along the way to buy some Chinese food to go
I'm sure I had my dinner watching something on TV
There's not, I think, a single episode of Dallas that I didn't see
I must have gone to bed around a quarter after ten
I need a lot of sleep, and so I like to be in bed by then
I must have read a while
The latest one by Marilyn French or something in that style
It's funny, but I had no sense of living without aim
The day before you came
And turning out the light
I must have yawned and cuddled up for yet another night
And rattling on the roof I must have heard the sound of rain
The day before you came
