Awesome!!! What are the models of all the kayaks you're rolling? I've been looking for something with low volume, hard chine, and la ow back deck. Those boats look perfect.
Those are Greenland style kayaks. Two Tahe-Marine Zeguls and a Rebel (they bought Tahe) but I'm not sure which model. We all have these Greenland style kayaks specifically for rolling practice.
Loved the paddling upside down - I always get so disorientated when I try that one! Great work with learning so many of the rolls: how many different rolls are you up to now?
Nice! Did you get a new boat for rolling practice or is it a loaner from the club? I doubt I'd fit in it! 🤣 I really wanted to sign up for this weekend's "Learn to Roll" course with James (and presumably you?), but had a schedule conflict again. I'm hoping I can make the August session work as I really want to get the foundations down this year.
I bought this kayak for rolling practice. I had someone 6' 1" in it yesterday and they were able to roll. It is a tight fit but that's what makes it easier to roll. I may assist James this weekend.
@@mmcholm Ya, I'm 6'-6", so my options are limited. I own a Sterling Grand Illusion and look forward to mastering more than just the first half of a roll!
A hard chine acts as a secondary keel when on edge, or in the context of rolling, when you are in a balance brace or floating to the back deck during a roll. The chine helps the boat stabilize on it's side which can assist rolling.
Need to learn the back deck roll myself
Superb skills👏👏👏
Thanks and thanks for watching!

Thanks@@mmcholm for the reply and for the great video!

Thanks and thanks for watching. I think this video covers most or all of the rolls I've tried :-) Might be one or two I'm forgetting...
That would be great if a pod comes by. Put on a snorkel and get out the go pro.

Most of the rolling videos I'm watching are with hard chines. Do you get a faster roll past the balance point?
