+1 on the smart crate video idea. I recently switched to smart tagging in the last 4 months with my entire library and it’s pretty powerful. I’ve shrunk my library down quite a bit as it forces you to tag every song- I realized I didn’t need a majority of the music that was clogging my master music folder. I don’t really use regular crates any more. Would love to see some different ideas on library tagging/organization 🙌
Still true today. Thank God for TH-cam, where these teaching DJs can pass knowledge to the new dj generation. I understand why the original vinyl djs were hesitant to teach their skills. It was sooo much more difficult to acquire and learn everything to be even remotely successful back then. But now in the internet age. It benefits the culture to spread the knowledge. As we have learned. Some folks will pursue DJing whether they have the skills or not lol. Inadvertently this happened and lowered the overall stock value of a DJ. It benefits all DJs when less DJs suck.
JL!! Thank you so much for answering my question about preparing a mix and how long it takes to record one. For me, it can take a whole entire day because I want it to sound as perfect as possible. Sometimes, I would record my entire mix flawlessly until I reach the very end where I accidentally mess something up which gets me so frustrated. Appreciate you always giving back to DJ community! Peace and love Bro! ✌️
Love these videos. You are so knowledgeable. I have one thing to say... you said you aren't a heavy turntablist. While I know what you mean by not being a battle DJ...dude. your turntablism skills are phenomenal!!! It precisely how you moderate your turntablism which makes you one of the absolute best turntablists most of us have ever seen! Your creativity during your mixes can not be overlooked!
Thanks for answering the question bro ! I agree a laptop is the best starter purchase, I bought a MacBook that I used for school so I just kept using that one but man I wish it had more storage lol
Thank you for this, I didn't get the shoutout but I'm one of the "how the hell you post on TH-cam guys". Cool sesh to get 2 know your favorite artists 💁🏾♂️🎨
Bro. You gotta practice beatmatching by ear for this reason. You can't beatgrid live music, it has slips and all of that. Easiest solution is find redrums of those older songs inside of DJ pools. They will have a corrected tempo you can beat grid. 2nd way is to look at the wave form, adjust your tempo fader as best as you can, then listen closely as you bring it in the mix and nudge and adjust as needed. The best way is to vigorously practice beatmatching by ear. It is daunting and frustrating, but once you learn how, you won't be as concerned with beat grids. If I run into such a song during a mix, and I can't get the song to match up properly. I will cue up to the beginning of the first chorus and just I fade it up while I drum it in to the rhythm of the current song while echoing out the current song. Once the first song is fading out, I release the off beat song and no one ever notices the cheat.
If your using Rekordbox you can set the Analysis to Dynamic which 'can' do a decent job of Beatgridding those 'wandering' Beats. Failing that, set Cues at the Start, Drop/1st Verse, Break/Bridge, Outro (basically where you would likely want mix in/out then make sure the Beatgrid is correct 2/4 Bars before Hotcue(mixing in) 2/4 Bars after Hotcue(mixing out). Or even easier just pick 1 part of the song with no vocals/little melody beatgrid that one part and loop it save it as a Hotcue and always jump to that to mix in/out. Basically if your gonna blend between the songs do it quick, no 8/16 Bar blends xD Mixing classic Reggae though, damn i struggle big time with that :)
Just found you and subscribed. I love chopped and screwed music and began trying to dj on a serato ddj SB3. What should be my next controller when I feel I'm ready for the next level
I went from the DDJ SR2 to the Rane One. Dont look at it so much as there is a definite next step controller once you've outgrown your current one. Look at it more like what direction do you want to take it? If you find your self more into using fx and features on your board, then climb the Pioneer DDJ latter and basically use your budget to determine your upgrades to come. But you may find you arent satisfied with jogwheels and want something resembling or that is a turntable set up. I was eyeing the 1000srt the moment I was ready to upgrade ...but then the Rane One came out and provided the cheapest but highest quality set up that would take my direction into a turntable set up. And I have to say I am glad I did. The 1000srt is a great controller no doubt! But having that spinning platters has 1000% helped speed up learning to scratch and things like that.
@@DJTeddyJetts I was looking at the flex but I think I'll like the Rane One more. I like the fact that it has a spinning jogwheel. Thanks for sharing that . 👍
Hey Jordan, Só a question you have probably answered but I have checked so many comments and other videos and didn’t find so apologies in that. Question is, for someone starting what gear you recommend? Like a Ddj Sb3 controller? Or buying some Tt decks with a mixer? And if yes, which ones ? (Have no idea) thank you in advance
kia ora bro i have a Q... what is your favorite part about djing? between creating. playing your mix back complete. or live djing . p.s you the blend KING!!!!!

Trial and error lol

The 1000SRT would be a natural progression from the SB3.

Hi mate can you chat about copyright and Dj videos on TH-cam
Do you trim , your videos with copyright blocks
Yep, use the tool inside TH-cam to remove the blocks. If it's too much then scrap the video and start again without those songs.
What do you do if your video is blocked in all regions
Nothing you can do.
OK so spending hours planning my mix is not unheard of ha. thought i was just slow
