It’s amazing how the opinions have changed in one day! All of a sudden we all see it for what it really was. Just a debate, not the end of the world!
TV is overreactive-it wants every reaction to be immediate and dramatic. When some of our Olympic athletes have bad performances, we hear the same rhetoric: They had a bad day on the wrong day. Presidents work every day, and they never debate as part of their job. They don’t work without notes and aides available. Take a breath and see where we are in a week.

I mean, let's be honest, Biden is only truthful relative to Trump. His first campaign for president, in the 80s, ended when he was caught plagiarizing. And that's just the start. As a friend of a lifelong stutterer, I can tell you that being swamped by a firehose of lies and having to respond is difficult for most, but the timer was Joe's enemy. A debate is a different animal than a speech. Parliamentary leaders in Europe debate as second nature. Congress however has some fantastic debaters. Elect fewer casino swindlers and more people schooled in genuine politics.

Respect and support for our legal system is the foundation of American democracy. Allowing any group to self declare themselves to be above the law, is granting them undisputed power over all of us.
When life hands you lemons, make ..... Benedict Donald keeps harping about "cognitive" tests, so now would be the chance for the Biden team to challenge crump to a whole battery of tests from top professionals. Include knowledge and aptitude tests for several relevant subjects such as history and government. Each team could pick 5 out of 10 of the top universities, and the common choice(s) would get to run the tests. Biden would agree to step aside to another D if the pros advise him to.

Very, very disappointing that Ruth Ben-Ghiat's brief but brilliant comments were not included. From Nicolle's on-air response, I had thought there was a realization that Ben-Ghiat's observations and her expertise on authoritarianism should be front and center in analyzing the debate and the situation in which we find ourselves.
Apparently, whoever edits these highlights disagrees.
‘Double haters’ is media silly talk. If uncommitted voters really think RFK is the answer then they are crazier than ever. The US should reflect on their nomination process. Or understand the difference between debates and speeches. Spoiler alert , speeches are largely read in America. Obama was an outstanding speaker however.

Joe Bidens rally chants the day after the debate is NOT GOOD ENOUGH. He needs to show the American people he can speak thoroughly and accurately WITHOUT COGNITIVE ERRORS in an intimate, level headed way, outside of a rally, outside of using a teleprompter. In those explanations, he also needs to DIRECTLY address the debate. Not this passive aggressive rally chant stuff. I want to see him make press conferences once or twice a week on major network TV discussing calmly and intelligently to the American people. He needs to reach those 40-60 million people all over again twice or three times over to change their minds. He needs to show his cognitive issues are not that present. These rallies don't accomplish that.
