    Armenian church is not orthodox, Armenia is one of (if not the only one) the rarest countries, keeping the APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH so far. Thank you

    • @U_1984
      @U_1984 9 ปีที่แล้ว +252

      yeah but they are considered Oriental Orthodox not Eastern Orthodox like Greeks, Russians, Serbs, Ukrainians,Romanians,Georgians, Montenegrin, Macedonians,Bulgarians, Belarus, Moldova and Cyprus.The Oriental Orthodox communion comprises of six churches, Ethiopian, Eritrean, Syriac, Malankara Syrian (Indian Orthodox Church),Coptic and Armenian Apostolic churches. Confusingly, they are collectively called "Oriental" Orthodox, as opposed to the "Eastern" Orthodox. Most of the churches you see in the West tend to be of the Eastern Orthodox breed.These churches are all the same faith in the sense that they recognize each other are Christian, but the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox branches are not in communion with each other. Thank you.

    So many TURKS! You people flood every video that contains "Armenia" in its title with negative comments. I've never seen another race act like this. It's pretty pathetic, shows the kind of people they are.

    Oh wow, great presentation!!! I lived in Armenia for most of my life. I went back to Armenia this summer and honestly I was shocked. I can't even describe you guys how Armenia progressed...the capital was beautiful, like a small European city with a lot of cafes, restaurants, clubs and tourists...In Yerevan people never go to sleep early! everybody are out in the city, and I mean everybody... the young and the old, Yerevan has such an awesome nightlife, just plain walking outside in the city every evening was so much fun ...anyhow, Armenia is an awesome country with a lot of historical sites, beautiful nature and beautiful, mesmerizing, thousand years old churches in every city and village...everything you covered in your presentation is true, including the problems the country faces... thank you

    • @GeographyNow
      @GeographyNow  9 ปีที่แล้ว +45

      Thanks youngarmenian ! Yerevan sounds Amazing. I specifically would like to check out the lake Sevan area though. That place sounds pretty cool. Have you been there?

    • @mirzabekyana
      @mirzabekyana 9 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Geography Now Lake Sevan is wonderful place with a peninsula Akhtamar, which has a wonderful story connected with the name... Actually nearly all names of places in Armenia have hidden stories. If you have a chance to visit Armenia once , find time to visit it!! :)
      P.S. Video was amazing, I really miss Armenia!

    Very well made! The only mistake I only noticed was you mixed up the eastern and western dudes when they try to talk to each other, but most people won't know anyway :)
    Also the Javakh and other regional problems others mentioned about Georgia. So I wouldn't say Georgia and Armenia love each other but those problems aren't really that huge
    Other than that I really liked it, you even covered how the USSR forced Armenia to produce cotton in the USSR :)

    The presenter misspoke at 8:31, when he said both Armenian and Greek are dialects not based on Indo-European languages. Both Armenian and Greek are dialects (or better yet, languages) of Proto Indo-European, as is English. The language alphabets of both Armenian and Greek are offshoots of the ancient Phoenician alphabet developed three or so millennia ago, as is Latin and Cyrillic based alphabets. That aside, I enjoyed the video!

    Its nice to see how foreigners see my country, thanks dude. But you did make some mistakes:
    1)Armenia and Georgia have been very close friends in the III century to the XIII centuries. But in the early XX century a dispute happened in Lori, in reality it was georgian land with an armenian majority since the XV century, so it was their land and they got it back. Fair right?
    2) We have always (EXCEPT for the Roupenian Dynasty) controlled mount ararat, since our first kingdom, the kingdom of Ararat (urartu). Ararat means "Mountain of the Ara god and Ara King". It is also called Masis and the smaller one besides it is called Sis.

    (The Argentine again) Thank you for explaining the country where my ancestors come from (my mother's surname is Essayan.) Fun story: in Argentina, Armenians sometimes are called Turcos (Turkish) because of their similar ethnicity. My grandpa, whose father was Armenian and escaped the genocide, is called Turco by his coworkers. My great grandma wanted to kill him because he let himself be called like that. We sometimes call my mom Turca for bothering her, and she gets mad.

    Hey im Armenian and im kinda surprised that you had some things really on POINT! haha
    one thing you got right for sure is the love between Greece & Armenia i would give my life for them just as i would for my own country, and same for Serbia we all fight for the Holy Cross. ps: we aint Orthodox though, like dea7 said Christians (Gregorian) & Nagorni Karabah IS Armenia. nothing to say about that.

    Oh yeah you've got to make some sort of reference to The Ashes which some Aussies would argue is the catalyst for the independence movement. In short it's a cricket series Australia plays England which Australia won and England was upset about and called it the death of cricket. We burnt a cricket set in response for a laugh now we play for the ashes of cricket.
