Thanks so much for your support! I will revisit that topic for sure! Brian(Sbtv)
I've actually never gone "officially" field herping, but I have gone on hikes and just so happened to find plenty of turtles, toads, and snakes. It's always awesome to find something you weren't even looking for.
Yep! This is exactly why we cut eggs.. A healthy snake does not need to die because we don't want to cut eggs. Thanks for sharing the story! Brian(Sbtv)
it's so satisfying to see the blade cut through the egg for some reason
Great episode. Very important for newer keepers to watch someone experienced in cutting before ever attempting to do it themselves. Keep up the good work!
Haha. I will send you a truck load of snakes to care for! Thanks as always! Brian(Sbtv)
thanks so much! I appreciate your support! Brian(Sbtv)
I would love to work at bhb when I'm older! I love snakes
Thanks for liking it. Too late is normally not a problenm, but too early can result in them crawling out early and dying. Thanks for watcing the show! Brian(Sbtv)
Thanks for liking it! Brian(Sbtv)
Thanks so much for sharing your story. Glad to hear it worked out for you and the animal! Brian(Sbtv)
Thanks so much for watching, Brian(Sbtv)

I'd love to make it back to Snake Day this year? Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

I can not thank you enough for all your support! Brian(Sbtv)
I just made my last exam at school
Now let the vacation begin with.... SNAKEBYTESTV!
Great show guys!
When I was about 10 I found baby copperhead. I picked it up because I was infatuated with snakes and had no clue how dangerous it was. I was showing it off to all my friends. Amazing no one got hurt. Keep Calm and Chive On SnakeBytes.TV!
I understand, but please realize that those ads are what make it possible for shows like ours to keep going. If we can't make enough to pay for production we can not keep makng the show. I know they are annoying, but they are SO important for independant producers like us. Thanks for watching the show! Brian(Sbtv)
That;s awesome! Those are scary! Thanks for watching, Brian(Sbtv)
Love the show. As always, all of you do a great job and showcasing the tremendous work your doing. Keep it up!
i live in AZ and this year i have been herping alot and the reptiles i have found are mostly western banded geckos, desert banded kingsnakes, gopher snakes, and a couple rattle snakes so far.
YES!! Finally another Ball Python video. More egg cutting videos!! Love to see the different morphs you create. My guess is Brian started growing his hair at 15yrs old.
Amazing video Brian. I always thought that egg cutting was wrong. But you do it seriously and with respect for the animals.
A really cool story about finding something in the wild was when my school took a field trip to Mount Palomar and when we went to a hike in our groups, we saw a deer carcuss, which was freaking amazing especially how fresh it appeared.
When I was little fishing with my dad I hooked on my line a mudpupy that's probably the coolest amphibian I've ever caught!
That Carmel Glow is to die for! It also looks like you have a few more I really like in the eggs! The Pastel Enchi Lesser is beautiful from what I can see! Can hardly wait to see them when they come out!
Thanks so much! Brian(Sbtv)
Snake road is an amazing place! You must go to that for sure! Thanks for watching, Brian(Sbtv)
I hope we are not over doing the c-sections on snake eggs. I wonder how many baby snakes have been sliced with the razor blades.Ouch!
I love Brian to death but there is a horrible "sweep it under the rug" mentality in regards to cutting snake eggs. They claim they are doing it for the good of the animal, but look at every egg cutting video ever, and they are literally just excited kids opening their christmas presents early... They just want to see what's in there, they aren't trying to save lives. Snakes hatch every day in the wild perfectly fine and somehow they haven't gone extinct yet.
I know the feeling, I was terrified of spiders, but I got a Tarantula (Zombie) and I started holding her and now I have gotten over that fear! Just find someone that has a TAME snake and slowly work your way to handling it. In no time you'll be a expert! Trust me, you'll be so happy! Thanks for your support on the show! Brian(Sbtv)
I just got back from doing some field research in North Carolina with our zoo and the north carolina zoo. We found 7 hellbenders, 3 queen snakes,4 northern water snakes and various salamanders.
thanks for responding! i love all your vids! all my friends were really jealous that i caught the snake, because they didnt think a girl could catch a snake, haha :)
Great Episode Brian. I really like the collaboration with my buddy Tay! That voice adds so much to a spot like that. It's like having James Earl Jones in your video. Everybody check out Tay Zonday's channel after you're done here. He is so much more than Chocolate Rain.
Yes, you can cut colubrid eggs without a problem.. Same deal as python eggs. Thanks for watching, Brian(Sbtv)
Awesome story! thanks so much for sharing it with us! Brian(Sbtv)
You had me at Tay Zonday. Chocolate Rain!
just today i went herping in southern CA doing surveys for flat tail horned lizards they are my favorite rep
When I was in High School, my family and I lived in Georgia. At night, I would go out to the stream behind our house and look for frogs and water snakes. Usually that was all I would find, but one night (after a particularly heavy bout of rain the previous week) I happened upon a group of baby alligators. They were just cruising along down the stream, chirping the night away.
This show was really helpful Brian because my uncle just had his Cinnamon ball python have eggs and he wanted to know how you did it so i showed it to him and he thinks this is going to be very useful. thanks again brian, keep up the awesome shows!!
My favorite experience was actually just yesterday, I handled my first "Hot"
Eastern Cottonmouth. So sweet!
This reminded me of a kid that is to anxious to wait until Christmas to open his presents.
Thanks brian good to know we arent expecting anything exciting this clutch just a trial run for next year when the rest of our collection matures lol keep up the great work
Loved the direct tv reference
It takes two or three days for them to crawl out of the egg. Thanks for watching, Brian(Sbtv)
Yes, I hit a fire pin pied and two fire pieds... Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
I once found a adder when I was walking the dog. Fortunately I saw it before my dog did, so I had time to leash him. Oh, I have came across deers, elk and rabbits too. Great show as usual, I think my ball python is gravid so this was just in time.
I really want to grow up and either be part of your crew, or start one of my own, but either way I still really want to meet you guys, your crew seem like really funny and animal smart people, along with yourself, you seem like very friendly people :) and I really want to be part of something like that, but I'm only 13 and have no experience with snakes, other than watching your videos is the closest thing to experience pretty much. How would I get the money to purchase a few ball pythons and start with that? I'd need to buy a place to put them too because my mom hates animals
Step 1: Get a job.
Step 2: Research. ALOT. Like seriously, research the snakes a CRAPLOAD.
Step 3: Purchase a small rack or build your own and set it up correctly following the information that you know from researching. Doing that research will help you pick something suitable.
Step 4: Pick the morphs that you would like to purchase that you found while researching.
Step 5: Purchase said snakes.
Step 6: Research more.
Step 7: Breed them
Step 8: Enjoy the animals
Step 9: Profit
Notice that enjoying the animals comes before profit.
Step 10: Research.

Last Year I found a real big Geass snake , and I want to catch a adult European adder.
You make a real cool Show .
It's not about being patient as much as about seeing if there are any problems. Cutting a few days early is not a hazard to the animal AT ALL. I am against cutting really early and messing with them as well. Thanks for watching, Brian(SBTV)
Even though I know he's experienced and knows what he's doing, watching him cut the eggs is so stressful to me xDD
i go down near the river and creek and 13 years ago i got copperhead and took it home than i got bit and rushed to the hospital when i got back my lovely snake was still in its tank i had to let her go my mom said i got the love bit from that snake because ever seens than i have kept snakes lol and great show on cutting eggs i just had my first clutch take care guys
well, the very first time i went herping was with my dad. we have woods outside my house, and we both love snakes, so we decided to go look around. we were out there for a long time and didnt find anything. then, just as we were getting ready to go in, i found my first adult copper head. it was awesome. :)
Awesome, great show guys. keep em coming. Brian how about a full show on Hognose
Hey Brian, I was looking in to getting a corn snake, and I was wondering when corn snakes typically hatch. Thanks for all the awesome videos! They pretty much fuel my interest in snakes since my parents wont let me get one until I've moved out for good. Keep up the awesome work man!
I found a coyote skull one time which was pretty cool. It was completely clean to the bone, made for some cool pictures. I know its not a snake but was still really cool to find while out looking.
I would always cut them at day 62 if they are not hatching by then. Good luck! Brian(Sbtv)
Crazy clutches guys! You should do more eggs cutting vids
this video was a grate learning experience. hear in Utah i caught corn snakes, rattle snakes, bull frogs, garter snakes and some dessert iguanas, scorpions, and few tarantulas. Some animals ive caught had injures so i took it to my vet get whatever i needed to get them better so that i can take them back to the wild right were i caught them. Unfortunate some didnt pull thu but thats life at least i gave them a fighting chance of survival. Steve Irwin had a big impact in my life and made me the man i am today.
is is a grate video :)
great*
ay im in utah to, but i breed captive bred stuff
I freaking love these guys
It's like opening presents at christmas!
Haha.. I don't control the ads, so I have no idea about that:) Thanks for watching, Brian(Sbtv)
Awsome video, ive seen alot of egg cutting videos but could never find anyone to explain it well.....it would be amazing if you could make a follow up video on those fire pin pieds, id love to see them out and about
I know that this is an old video but to answer the question of the week...
Once I was out looking for snakes as a kid and I came across this beat up, scared, old milk snake that was missing its tail. I grabbed it and handled it for over an hour, it was pretty tame for a wild snake. I took it to my dad , who was busy on the phone and was like " Nice snake Dawn !"
Pleased with how well this was going I sat on the grass outside the house and let it run through my hands and then curl up beside me. A family friend was over at the time and saw the snake I was handling, and to my surprise started to freak out !
I had no idea what he was on about. " It's a rattle snake ! " he kept saying..... " Unlikely..." I said.
I am from the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario Canada and the massasauga rattlesnake is located around that area, but I had never seen one.
well......as it turns out, the old fart curled up beside me decided to give a nice yawn and expose some pretty sweet fangs. I figure that the flailing, stamping idiot raging about the blood thirsty snake probably unsettled him. I moved away and let him slither back into the bush.
Good story about proper identification.....
I had never observed a rattle snake till that point, but I had seen a milk snake once before and assumed it was the same thing...it never even tried to rattle its tail.
He was a proper gentleman....and I was a dumb girl ! BUT I LIVED !
...btw i have tried all the tricks from snakebytes shows and from several other breeders(before you ask), most of them are rather common tricks to get snake eating... thanks
When i go herping, i have found quite a few rattlesnakes, a few tarantulas, and loads of scorpions! Wow that sounded like it came from somebodys worst nightmare! I hope to one day find an alligator snapping turtle but i find that unlikely because of the place i live (downtown) and tbh i am to cheap to pay for gas lol! Great show and thank you for expanding the knowlege of so many people including myself about the reptile world!
I hope to find some Cali kings
