- In this video, I discuss a crucial principle of Kantian ethics- The "respect for person" principle, aka, the "human dignity" principle. Respecting humans could be shown by not using them as mere means to an end, but respecting their autonomy, rights, and choices.
According to this principle, an action is put to test and determined to be correct if it treats the person humanely or fails to do so. In short, Kant emphasized that it is our duty to respect the dignity inherent in every human being.
WRT, GS IV, there was a ten-mark question (in 2014) on the above principle and a case study-based question involving child labor.

Loved the video.
I could think of certain situations where these principles are of huge importance like land acquisition and rehabilitation plans by govt where the officials need to balance meeting the end of overall development of the region and the needs of the one’s being rehabilitated.
Personally i feel, there are situations where some segments might even not know the right ends to be met due to lack of education or the social setup. Here, it is the duty of the civil servant not to exploit these conditions in their favour, rather spread awareness/educate people and then build consensus over any issue.
