    My newest Mantra thanks to you "no lazy fingers for shifts" 🤓🤓🤓

  • @levoncello
    @levoncello 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    My respect to you and to all who tries to make cello technic more understandable.
    Concerning shifts there is a golden rule I have learned from my teacher Lev Evgrafov in Moscow Conservatory - the shifts should be done in that TEMPO in which you are playing. This rule can sound at first a bit abstract,but it is actually very applicable and useful. Just imagine you make a shift in Swan and in any fast passage like opening of the second movement of Prokofiev 's Concertante - it should be obviously very different speeds by making position changes. But I agree generally,that in scales it is better to do shifts a bit faster than the tempo is.

    God I love this guy! I'm a singer, a Bass, and this helps me!

      This is fantastic to hear! I never would imagine that a little scale lesson could help even bass singers! By the way, my favourite one: bass! When I was a teenager, I used to sing in choir and always as bass. It rocks!

      @@IliaLaporevcellist Tx Ilia! So cool to hear from you. Yes, our current music director said "I want you guys to sound like Cellos", so I'm studying cello theory and techniques. (We're working on R. Thompson's "Frostiana")
      There is a discipline to translate the technicalities from one instrument to the analogies of another (here, the diaphragm and the voice).
      "Equal bowing" -- proper and strong breath control. etc etc.
      I guess I could write a small treatise on the parallels.

    Ещё один совет и Вам Илья!
    Техника игры гамм должна быть унифицирована в левой руке для быстрой смены позиций, особенно начиная с 7 позиции, и в этом случае унификация движения левой руки при смене позиций выше 7 решает проблему интонации, а это главная задача, скорость, звук и ИНТОНАЦИЯ! Если работать
    в этом направлении, где должно быть минимум лишних движений и максимум результат, то время для достижения безупречного исполнения гамм будет минимальным, а это есть главное во всём!

    Ar dic U laded fingering? Ar - TIK -u - LATE - ted fingering. means the FINGER GETS to BEGIN the note by pounding hard enougn on the string as it lands to CREATE STRING VIBRATION BEFORE the BOW changes direction. This allows the bow to begin ITS new vibration speed on a string that is already resonating. The bow must be capable of changing the vibration of the stick with. EVERY pitch, so if the left hand will START the VIBRATION. PRIOR. to the arrival of the bow hair, then cleanliness results. This fellow moves his left hand very beautifully because in HEARING the pitch that he desires, his trained hand will GO to the note. Helping that, he KNOWS the name of the note that he is seeking: You cannot find, except by dumb luke, a note that you can't read or don't remember. KNOW the name of the note you want, HEAR the pitch, and ALLOW your LEFT Hand to get there before the BOW. ARTICULATE THE NOTE by firm finger pressure and/or a bit of finger pounding!

    Luckily, I have perfect pitch, it’s just my bowing sucks. Must be so hard for the master to demonstrate rookie mistakes.
