Take 3 of this one. The first time I did it I used an original master track backing track and it got copyright blocked in the U.S. No good. Had to sit down and re-do the whole thing with a different track. Now we're good. Except the track that I used had zero guitars on it, so I had to fill in all the guitar parts myself. A bit more work.
The second time I uploaded it, my audio cut out near the end. Editing mistake on my part. Now we're good I think.

Finally, a cover of Layla's famous slide guitar solo that actually makes an effort to hit the right notes and sound like the real thing lol
An excellent cover 👍
Such an under appreciated channel, keep up the amazing work
I appreciate that man. I've been at this two years now. Pretty organic growth. Not much help from TH-cam's algorithm yet. If/when that kicks in we'll see how it goes.
Wow Brother , SPOT ON !!!! You play Eric's Guitar and Duane's slide Solos ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESSLY !!! I think I will go burn my Guitar after watching you play in a bid of hopelessness for myself 😁😁😎😎🙏🙏🙏
Epic outro
WOW!!! That's all i can get out rite now.
You will get no comments from me about your technique, as I wouldn't know the difference between the right and wrong way to play slide guitar. It sounded great to me! I'm always in awe of how you can capture the tone and feel of every solo you play, it's quite remarkable. Hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy!
Thanks again for the inspiration. I wish I had 1/10th your talent. Love your quest.
Thanks Paul! I enjoy doing it. Really glad that I inspire a few people with my little project.
So that's why when I read the tabs for this solo, it tells me to reach frets 26, 27 and so on, and I cried "But those notes are not on the fretboard!" This is clearly the work of guitar geniuses and you completely nailed it my friend. Thank you!!
You just have to feel where the 26/27 frets are on the guitar. No need for the actual frets.
Amazing job on what I've always considered the greatest Rock song of all time!
Perfect
Great backing track also! The drums sound just like Jim Gordon's who actually snuck into the studio at night to record the piano part that Clapton used for the coda after the others found out about Jim's escapades!
I bought it from a karaoke site. $1.99. did the trick.
@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar Is that what you usually do? I have always wondered.
Amazing what else can you say! Probably my favourite album, 50 years old this year 2020!👍🎸🇨🇦
Welcome to the club Gerald. I hear it's the new 35.
Oh, the album! Not you?
Kelly Dean Allen Guitar I wish I was turning 50 again!lol 55 this year, but yes the Derek & The Dominos Album; Layla and other Assorted Love Songs 1970! Love your YT channel your a fantastic guitar player, you and your family stay safe.👍🎸🇨🇦
Awesome freaking job on the slide work...you rock !............and one word that still can be said........PRICELESS ! ! !
Great cover! One of my favorite songs ever. Great job on it.
Tom Dowd is someone worth looking up as well, interesting body of work. Great job on another classic solo.
Thanks Jon! Yeah, came across his name a number of times researching this one. Big Time sound engineer producer back in the sixties and seventies.
Honestly, this solo would make a mesmerizing episode, although I’ll probably end up just slowing it down and going through it peice by peice
Man, epic tone. That Gibson sounds so beautiful. Excellent work as always, @Kelly Dean Allen Guitar
Thanks Brandon. Yeah, it's a sweet guitar. Wish it was mine. Unfortunately it's a loaner. It's mine whenever I need it though.
The isolated track surprised me with out of tune it actually was. Credit to the mixing and you nailed it btw
Wow
¡Amazing work man👏!
AWESOMEEEEE!🤘🏻👌🏻
That's mate! Proud of this one considering I had no idea how to play slide just a few weeks before I learned it.
@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar You are so talented man keep playing. And it would be awesome if you share the outro slide solo tabs. But the live one.I think live slide solo is much better.
Love that period of clapton
There's nothing particularly exceptional about this songs guitar solo but I would say it's probably top 5 best main riffs of all time. Hell, might even be the GOAT in terms of riffs, just so catchy.
How do you get the slide to sound so good while not muting with the hand that's holding the slide?!
No idea, haha. Playing slide that high on the neck it's pretty much impossible to hold ones fingers behind the slide.
Outstanding guitar play Kelly! I’m actually working on Layla as we speak or as I text, and although I’ll never be able to hit the mark anywhere near as well as you do I’m very curious at how the bird chirp is made at the very end of the song? It’s just something that I have always wondered but can not for the life of me figure out how that is created? I hope that is not a dumb question, extreme high pitch slide somehow?
Lol
Anyway if you ever get a chance and come across this question I would love an answer if you have one!!
Keep up the good work and if it wasn’t for Layla I may have never found your channel!! 🎼✌️
Thanks man! The bird chirp. Just what you said. Move the slide all the way up near the bridge on the high e string. As close as you can get it. That's where the chirp is.
@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar thank you!! I’ll try my best to find the Midas touch with it!! Awesome man!! I’ll be checking out your channel often now for sure! Your playing is so damn good!
I’ve been at it for 45 years but some of us are just limited I guess.. lol
🎼🎸✌️
Amazing! Lesson, please!
I never knew it was Duane
dont think duane used a pick
