    Just so everyone knows:
If the new air filter says "UP" next to an arrow, make sure the arrow points up....
If the new air filter says "Airflow" next to an arrow, make sure the arrow points DOWN! Airflow goes from up to down in this car model.

oh my gosh THANK YOU. Pulled mine back out after seeing your comment-sure enough it says “air flow”. When I compared the old to the new filter, the arrows point opposite directions. I’ve made myself a note in my owners manual to watch for “up” or “airflow” on future filters.

Thank you! I just changed this on my sisters 2010 camry. Her blower motor was really weak and would not cool the car off very well despite the A/C system being perfectly fine and properly charged. When I removed the old filter, it was caked in Debri and dirt so bad that it made a huge mess all over the passenger floor area! I ended up taking a shop vac and sucking up the rest of the debri from the housing. The car has 200k and I dont think it was ever changed since she owned it in 2015 with 80k! After installing the new filter, the fan is nice and fast and the AC is ice cold again.

If you pull the back of the glovebox towards you, it pulls right out. It pulls the sides in. Most of the cabin filters I bought have a direction arrow on them.

Hello everybody, I was a GM technician and would like to share something.
I own two Toyota's and have to change both filters yearly, I'm now retired and don't want to spend the 40 bucks for two filters,
I'm constantly cleaning my two mini-vacuums at home and these cheap filters are washable
So this year I decided to try washing my cabin air filters, I used a veggie brush in warm water with dish soap and was gentle while scrubbing,
I set them in the hot sun for a few hours and they are as good as the moment I bought them,(still crisp)
Washing took a few minutes, I wish I had done this all along.

Toyota loves to make it hard to remove parts. I couldn't figure out how to remove the glovebox last summer, I wanted to check the cabin filter and I couldn't find any video for the 07-09 Camry. This is the only video I found.

If there was a direction of flow, which way should it point. My fram breeze points down

No air flow markers on the new filter? That must be one cheaply made filter...

Why is there no directional flow? There usually is?
Where is that filter made? I refuse to buy anything made in China.

You would think that the Toyota engineers would have designed the removal of this cabin filter a little better.

  • @ralphturner3798

I've retracted the two plastic clips on the sides of the cover, but I can't get the cover off. I've used a pair of pliers to try to pull the cover off, but I can't get it off. I guess the filter has not been change in ten years, so it's probably stuck. Any suggestions?

    • @ralphturner3798
      @ralphturner3798 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I've found out that I was doing something wrong. I was pushing the two tabs outward, rather than inward, towards the center of the filter.

Maybe you should ask Toyota that question.

    • @poolly4940

On my 2011 Camry, it is almost impossible with taking off dashboard around glove box. Notice none of these videos show how to put damper back in, they conveniently ignore that step or show an older model that is easier to put. That is why toyota recommends, in their manual, to take it to dealer.

My dampener keeps coming off on the inside. I can never get both sides of the dampener hooked up, so I go to the mechanic. Is there another hook on the inside that I'm missing? Thanks
