hi there, i have 2 Triang-hornby 37s both with the original bogies,i remember when the first one came out,not interested in the new ones from other makers. after all we are still playing with toy trains so they should look the part

i love the art work on the old triang and hornby catalogues, the new 37 looks really smart, i do like that hornby are re using the older molds to create a more budget model for there range, a few years ago they were a fair bit cheaper but the prices are creeping up again and its not easy now getting a new loco for less than a 100 quid, i do still like the old 37 i remember my dads one running when i was little and he still has it now, youve got yours running really smooth for an older hornby loco, thanks for sharing. Tom

I have the latest one that hornby produced and it has the class 47 bogies under it to save costs I suppose, but that's the charm of hornby, also the lima one from the railroad range, but I still prefer the triang stroke hornby one.

Nice locomotives especially the new 37 from hornby I've had my eye on that got some lima ones all the best 👍

Hi John. I was not aware of of the bogie issue with the old Hornby 37's. I only have two 37's and both are Lima so I'm happy to have the correct bogies. I do like the BR green but the large logo blue is nice too.

When the large logo arrived in the early 80s it was a bit of a shock 😳 but I quite like it now . Yes nice body shame about the bogies! The Lima ones are very good and the motors are reliable, if a tad noisy sometimes.

I can recommend getting some large D couplings, for the train set, I've had "fun" with new/modern Locos & rolling stock "cornering" & coupling with the narrow fancy coupling geometry rolling stock combinations!
    Easter came early😁👍👍
Got my actuator rails fitted for my Gerry, 3 act drama! Peco, Hornby & Bachmann code 100 tracks are all shapes & sizes! 🤷‍♂

Yes,ihave a supply of medium and large D couplings, I haven't changed them on the new boy yet ,and strangely there hasn't been a problem. But on the present layout there are no reverse curves.
Good luck with your actuators, thanks again for watching and your enthusiasm 😀

I have a 1965 Triang Railways green class 37 in use, on my layout and I can assure you that it doesn't use class 31 bogies. It also growls loudly, just like the real thing!!

Hi Andy. I've just taken a look at the Tri-ang service sheets for both loco's and indeed the bogies have identical part numbers ( S.4177 ) , so yes indeed the 37 is using class 31 bogies. All the best - Mike.

I had the blue Tri Ang 37 with Magnahesion. The driving bogie was 4 wheels with representation of the middle wheels. It was very loud but the pulling power was immense. That loco has pulled every piece of rolling stock I owned together as one test which was 18 coaches plus around 50 trucks you’d think it was running light engine. That beast was very noisy as well. I assume it would be the same beast you have Andy.
