was watching this when a friend asked me what i was doing and they said how i could enjoy this... seeing all the donations, all the views (on twitch) and the people in audience; i'm not the only one who seems to enjoy it while helping others
I have never seen such godly Aghanim luck before. If he had slightly better Ganon RNG, could have been a WR for sure. Incredible run throughout by Xelna.
Not quite, Gannon had around 12 warps and each warp is only about 2 seconds. So he could've gone maybe 30 seconds faster if just Gannon had gone better. Wouldn't have quite been a WR but would have been absurdly close to it for a marathon setting.
That was really impressive work by all 4 runner. At the time of writing this these runs would put Zelna #2nd, andy #13th, Blunt #15th, Joe #71 on the WR list. Thats really bloody impressive to be able to play consistently good enough to pull those results in front of an audience.
45:00 This is probably my favorite game of all time, and I didn't even know that you could pull on trees to get a rupee drop. Let alone the mechanics behind which denomination comes out.
i remember when in sgdq 2014 another run had to do that moldorm refight hover, and it took him like 20 tries and everybody lost their shit when he made, and here andy made it first try and people were like "good, clap clap"
As a child I played this game a lot on school holidays and weekends, and used to be able to complete the game with 100% items in a single 16 hour session with 0 deaths and 0 save/quits. I thought that was good until I learned of what speedrunners can do. I don't have the time to dedicate to games anymore though so I'll just have to accept that I wont be getting any better.
Colgabister Did you use to play this game in single 16-hour sessions??? That sounds crazy insane!!! That would blow my mind and leave me exahusted for the next couple of days...
lol yup. i'm quite upset my mic was off. blue balls 0-3 i was "meh." 5-8 "dumb game." 10-12 "I QUIT FOREVER" started rooting for 15 at bb13, and lost my head laughing at 15. That's why i almost missed the guaranteed energy shot at the end, walking top right/bottom left, i was typing in chat/discord.
This was pretty cool. Part of me is disappointed that there doesn't seem to be a category for this game where my favorite glitch is actually relevant though. (Death Mountain Descent) It was cool to see Andy skip the mountain cave afterward though.
The gannon fight isn't THAT rng based. If you approach Gannon while he's settling in a new location during his teleport phase, then he is more likely to teleport again.
Since you can use a seed, I'd expect that more than true random for this event. It would have been cool, but honestly the likelyhood alttp randomized will come up in sgdq or next agdq is getting higher.
They played Super Metroid rotated 90 degrees earlier in the marathon. They play hacked games on GDQ all the time (like Kaizo Mario). There's no reason a randomizer cannot be on GDQ if there the runs are well developed and reliably repeatable in a certain time.

Breaking News: Nintendo has decided to rename Zelda: A link to the Past to The Legend of Xelna: A Link Done too Fast
it's never too fast...
Tiepo01 what does that even mean?
World record holder is Xelna. It's a joke.
Yami Okami gotcha

For reference, he ented Ganon's lair 26 seconds later than in his WR run.
Best runs of this game I've ever seen, Xelna you are awesome!
1:27:15 That seamless walk from the bottom right to the top right screen from Link tho......

Good to see Link actually in a hurry to save Hyrule for once.

my absolute favourite Zelda game 💝
Does anybody here know why Almo and Sjorec's TTYD speedrun isn't on youtube anymore? I really love that one.
i remember when in sgdq 2014 another run had to do that moldorm refight hover, and it took him like 20 tries and everybody lost their shit when he made, and here andy made it first try and people were like "good, clap clap"
33:55 was completely synced in that house on the left haha. love it when that happens
DS DAD HAS BEEN IMMORTALISED
1:15:44 Donation from Meg Turney?
I was wondering about that too. Checked comments for this reason. But no real way to know who it was.
This is my kind of run, some minor glitches, but winning fast is based on actual play skill as much as glitch knowledge.
wow that Xelna run was crazy good

If Ganon hadn't teleported so much, Xelna would have beaten his own world record. He had such amazing luck with blue balls & other boss battles.
It would have been close, but the 24 seconds saved on Ganon Warps wouldn't have made up the delta to WR.
wow. I didn't realize aghanim could be such an early run breaker. goodness.
indeed. Every blue ball is 6 seconds, and you add 6 more at blue balls 3, 7, 11, and 15. so Blunt got 7, that is (7x6)+6+6, so 54 seconds gone to RNG.

Oh I just realized that you are THE screevo. Sup.
yup that's me!
It's like Xelna is one with the game...
The Legend of Xelna !
How do they kill Ganon without the silver arrows?
There is a window of a few frames where if you release spin attack it will count as a hit

There are several categories that use DMD. All Dungeons, and Reverse Boss order to name a couple. www.speedrun.com/alttp
Xelna looked like he didnt want all that praise lol
next GDQ they should have a race between a LTTP run and a LBW run.

Xelna is a machine xD
how do you beat it in under 2 mins?
Joe Anon Probably wrong warp or variation on the exploration glitch.
What are the commentators names?
From left to right, SuperSkuj, ChristosOwen, and xReleased
Thanks!
oh look it's me in the background.
Xelna = God Gamer
I always thought the flute was RNG.
It's a real shame it's not randomized would been more fun.
Cyprien Cole not for live event speedrun..

Not sure, it's considered a romhack and they did show kaizo mario earlier and the other SMW hack this year, as well as other romhacks
Miss the banter from last time... Good run otherwise.
