Thank you for changing my 4 year old son's life forever. Until today, he wasn't aware that Robot Dinosaurs were possible. Now he's absolutely dazzled by the idea and I don't think he'll stop talking about it until he dies.
there are so many influences here! from the rocket robot having Megatron's Fusion Cannon from Transformers and the Dino Robot looking like Showa MechaGodzilla, with a bit of the Three Stooges and Voltron.
@@TheLoneAnimator Given how many internet animations rely on shock value, it's a breath of the fresh air that we didn't get a random unhappy ending with the scrapper suddenly dying from falling scrap metal.
They are both based on those designs. These puppets were originally made for a film project where Rob Halford was involved. I made them similar, but not exactly the same.
I'm now wanting to run a TTRPG based around a group of scavengers roaming around a wasteland that gets used for Mechwarrior type battles on a regular basis... Crawling all over wreckage trying to find useful parts to use/ sell, dealing with local wildlife, other scavengers, communities trying to survive in the wasteland (who are probably the main source of food/ water), occasional battles between armies of titans where all you can hope to do is evade near-misses as fast as possible...
Now you're doing Mecha fights? AWESOME! Loved the homages: from Transformers, to Mechagodzilla, to Voltron super robot! This has everything! The storytelling was excellent, when you don't need dialogue or explanations to tell the tale, that's mastery. The stooges fight was hilarious too! There's so many great things going on here, the perspective of the scrapper really wraps it up to perfection. Keep them comming!
I love the sense of scale once the scrapper runs goes to the evil robot entity. Idk why but in my head named the big bad Gorgonfall. Great animation as always.
This reminds me of some of the better 80's Japanese-influenced mecha cartoons I saw. A great battle there. And that poor guy in the diving helmet at the end. He thought his workday was done, too.
The fact that this is hand crafted and stop motion makes this piece all the more awe inspiring and enjoyable. I love the kaiju and mecha influences here, and I really think you nailed so much of the charm and imaginative nature of those genres. Definitely a new favourite and standout. And thank you once again for these charming and amazing videos! Keep safe and good health to you, friend!
Wonderful. Like some show from the glorious 80-thies. Really cool design on the dino-bot. I didnt realize how big they there until the end. That little metal-collector now surely have work for long time.
I am an 80s kid, so this is my childhood fantasies coming back to haunt me. Yes, I thought I'd make the mechs really big. I figured the scrap collector would be about the size of a human.

The puppets are a wild mix of materials. Some parts have been sculpted in clay and reproduced in hard resin. Other bits, like the wings of the eagle, are EVA foam. There's also a fair bit of kit-bashing in there, from various plastic kits.
Well Done! avec les trois comparses Ha-Ha (in the USA sometimes people say things in French to make it sound fancier) Thank you for sharing your visions. The only thing I like better than fighting kaiju is Giant Robots. Rock on.
Absolutely fantastic! You don't cease to impress me with your films! There's so many different things used as reference that it becomes its own semi unique thing! A perfect homage to all the different robot medias! And the think the scrapper dude is cool! He reminds me of something from Man After Man, speaking of which, it'd be incredible to see you do a film with the creatures from that book. Great job as always man!
Wait wait wait. So we have a Transformer fighting Mechagodzilla, in space, with a Three Stooges joke in the middle? Was this made specifically for me? Because it hits all the right buttons! Thank you so much for making this piece of art
@@TheLoneAnimator Thanks! As for the realistic, I was referring to the merchandise benefits of the absurd eternal conflict between Autobots and Decepticons XD From the abundance of recycling to a good show...
Thanks :) The puppets are constructed basically the way I make all my puppets -with aluminum wire joints and tie-downs in their feet. But the parts between each joint were made with hard materials this time, from old dried-up marker pens, to sculpted original parts cast in resin. Somewhere in between are sections made with EVA foam, which is stiff, but also slightly flexible. So it was both familiar work, as well as a bit new.
I don't know if this was an actual influence or not, but the lion and eagle robots reminded me of the covers for the Judas Priest albums Defenders of the Faith and Screaming for Vengeance. Whatever the influences may have been, the final product was very original and entertaining.
It was very much an influence. I designed and built these puppets for a video project where Rob Halford was involved, and he gave me the thumbs up and the go-ahead for these versions.

Three Stooges and Voltron... I was thinking the same thing!

Thanks! I actually originally built these puppets for a project which also involved Rob Halford. It was a kind of in-joke.
And in the end its always the little guys who have to clean up the left over mess ! GREAT Video pard 🤠👍👍
On the plus side, they're assured work and scrap for the next long while. So, swings and roundabouts.
Even on a distant asteroid..
Defenders of the Faith and Screaming for Vengeance lol!
Yup! These puppets were originally created for a video project where Halford was involved. But we decided to not make exact copies of the monsters.
It was awesome to see them swoop in! What was the project? Is it something public we can view?
Wish I'd gotten a big bowl of sugary cereal out for this one. Best one yet.
