    Great video! You're doing exactly what Id want to do again with a Dual Sport. I'd only buy it to trailer to a good offroad area and spend 2/3 the time offroad. Traveling, commuting, and easy short offroad, I'll use my Scrambler 1200

      @@812moto Definitely can't go wrong with either though but it's what you said about the vibrations and I think the fact that I'll be doing more road than dirt made me go with a crf. I ride solo so the KTM 500's weight definitely was appealing. I plan on stretching out my intervals though since I'll be about 70/30 road use and not really beating up the engine much.

I like the weight of the 500 but as I will do more road work the 690 is probably better. Heart wants the 500 though!

      I am 5'10. This bike is pretty tall but very manageable at my height. the bike is super light which makes it really easy to handle at stoplights. I dont have any experience with the 690 but i like how you can get them in a factory Sumo. Range is probably miles better on the 690 as well. I have a set of sumo wheels on order for this 500 if you are looking for sumo in both. I should have them by the end of the month and if weather permits i will have a video on that setup!

    Is that a bike you'd ride 90minutes to a good offroad park or trails, or would you put it in a truck and trailer it down? I already have a Scrambler 1200 which can do easy offroad. But for goat tracks and single track, and hilly bumpy offroad, this would be MUCH better on location. I had a DR650 but it was more like my Scrambler 1200... too heavy for much serious offroad.

    • @812moto
      @812moto  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not want to ride this thing 90 minutes without a seat upgrade. The seat is very stiff and you get a lot of vibrations through the handle bars and the foot pegs. An upgraded seat and some good boots may help with that. But stock it would make for a pretty rough trip

    • @sailorjohnboy

      @@maxflight777 You don't understand what I'm saying. I'm not saying it can easily do advanced offroad. I'm saying it can do easy offroading, such as hardpacked smoot dirt roads, gravel roads, and light offroad. Its not good for advanced single-track and goat trails and techincal riding. That's not what I said or meant.

    • @steelmilkjug
      @steelmilkjug ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maxflight777 It easily does softroads….30-50mph softroads. It’s terrible at single track and motorcross and enduro goat trails. But 25-50mph on hardpacked dirt and gravel is AMAZING! This is what I mean when I say it can do easy-level off-road.

    But you're not giving me a good comparison. I want to know how comparable is the power. And you're not getting on this bike Hard enough for me to be able to tell.... We need a better comparison. Because we need to know if this bike is actually fast or if it's slowest snail shit. Like the 250 klr. Give us a better explanation. Is the bike fast as a 450 sxf Or would it need a few mods?
    If so, how close is the power and how much would you think it would take to get It to the power of a 450 sxf
    Will the front end come off the ground and every year?
    We need a good comparison ???

    • @812moto
      @812moto  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have any of those bikes to compare it to. If you pin it in 1-2 and depending on wheee you’re at in the revs in 3rd it stands the wheel up with ease. You can yank it up and power wheelie in 4th after the tune. Look at the drz400 vs 500 exc video I made for a bit of comparison
