  • Today we are sewing the Kenzie Skirt by Seamwork with a few changes! First, we will be adding a pocket, then we will be sewing French seams around the pocket as well as the invisible zipper. This is my first time using French seams and I am totally in love with the finished garment. I didn't use any special tools for this project, but an invisible zipper foot could be a good purchase!

Thank you for this! As someone else said, I was also finding out how to put a concealed (invisible) zip into a garment with French seams and this was such a clear video 🙏🏻

This was extremely helpful!! I was trying to figure out how to put an invisible zipper in while using French seams. Thank you so so much!

glad it helped! I struggled to find the information too, but once I actually made the French seam on the zipper, it made sense.

Instead of going up a waistband size for more seam allowance, why not just add the extra 3/8 inch (or whatever) to the seam allowance using paper and tape? That way there's no guessing how much you're adding.
Really well done video. It definitely helps to watch someone do this for reference. Thank you!

You could totally do that, it would definitely be a better fit! I just wanted to let everyone know that for some reason the waistband hasn't worked out for me and it's always easier to cut off excess material than to start over if the band is too small. Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
