The best version of the prime time show was having the contestants switch seats so they could play with both celebrities in two games. That was done on the daytime version, but discontinued on prime time for some reason.
I was going to say for a 2nd or 3rd clue "Snail" and very surprised that when it was finally given, Alan King didn't add up the clues. As Ludden always says "Add up the clues! " :-)
For "Hide" even as a 1st clue I think if you smiled and gently nod your head to the right while saying "Seek ??…" And then nod your head to the left while smiling… I think in most cases it would have elicited the password :-)
I saw this before and I know that if they had time in the Lightening round, they could go back to the one they missed. When did they start doing that? (also, he keeps saying 5 seconds, but it's not. I've been timing it from my computer and it's like 12-15 seconds)!
Dorothy Loudon comes across as a bit of a flustered ditz, but that must've been her "stealth mode" - she rivals Carol Burnett in playing this game well. Had to be that Garry Moore connection... 😉
Wow, the first two games were pretty much one-sided victories! I wonder if the production staff did any screening to try and match the skill level of the players pitted against each other, or if they were only concerned with balancing the age/gender. For "umbrella", I would've said "parasol" For "basic", I'm surprised no one has ever thought to say "acidic" as an opposite. For "dame", I would've tried "Notre...", haha
Alan King came across as a first-class jerk in the intro of this episode. Actors are NEVER supposed to insult each other when making joint appearances. Wow...
Cigarette smoke!OH NO,Where are you NANNY STATE,since I'm helpless AND brainless, and Won't think for myself and move away OR leave when anyone is smoking cigarette.BUT when anyone lights up marijuana,HEY,no problem,no complaints.Because the "I CHOSE TO BELIEVE LIKE A GOOD IDIOT"bunch thinks and/or believes that one kind of smoke is different than another.
Cut the whining routine....if we checked your financial affairs, you'd probably be at the front of the line begging and benefiting from the so-called "NANNY STATE" - 90% of those always yapping about it are.
Typically, there are two spaces after a period, and one space after a comma. It could just be a generational thing, learned in typing class as I did. One space seems to be more common now.
For stare Alan King’s favorite saying is always look at the eyes ! That was funny when it finally paid off ! 🐼

I wish that I had a time machine to be able to go back in time and see Dorothy Loudon as Miss Hannigan
Saw her as Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Todd. She was awesome . Would have loved to have seen her in Ballroom
Smoking a cigarette during the game😅😂That's a first😅😂
Interesting, today for Basic someone could give Instinct as a clue. Great episode, especially enjoyed the contestants Dorothy and Marshall.

I was thinking "Glad" trash (bags) … But I guess that brand probably wasn't popular yet in 1963.
lol, ME TOO!
We they serving drinks while waiting to come on
Jeff Tarr started one of the first computer dating services. Don't know if he is still alive.

What a coincidence that she was on the Gary Moore show which Carol Burnett was also on. So two Miss hannigans were on the same show

Dorothy Loudon made her mark as Miss Hannigan on Broadway, but the movie role went to......... Carol Burnett.
@I've seen the Twinkie and the damage done Annie
For being so "basic" it was a mighty tough word to solve 😮

The celebrities yak too much. Let's play the game.

Jerry Lewis and Joey Bishop were 2 of the rudest contestants I've seen so far, and Allen was, as always, the consummate professional.
The ladies seem a bit drunk

@@ChrisHansonCanada Not any more. Now, one space after both a period and a comma.
Hard to believe you could play a game on TV while smoking up the set like Alan King. Ugh. Even back in those days, that was pretty rude.
Two of my least favorite Passover celebrities.
don't like Allan kings smoking. 😡😡😡
I don't like ANYONE'S smoking!
he's not the first guy on there that's smoked
what stupid words
