The body is still in there.
The armor of a crusader is his tomb.
And its been long enough that the body is really just bones at that point. So no stench of death.
Thats kinda nasty if you think about it, just leaving rotting corpses everywhere, having o wait for bacteria to get rid of the meat probably is mummified remains still in there.
It's not sealed tight though because there's a giant stab wound in the armour :p

1. The place is Eichenwalde which is a currently playable map in the game.
2. The girl talking to Reinhardt is one of Torbjorn's children, Brigitte. She is also a member of the Ironclad Guild because she has the same tattoo Torb has. Hers is at the top of her left arm as shown.
3. Reinhardt was never selected to join Overwatch. It was Balderich. Reinhardt took his place after he died.
4. Balderich is still on the throne in Eichenwalde. This short reveals how he got there.
5. Reinhardt has a voice line in game, "I must recover my master's armor." This short reveals why he has to do that. You can unlock Balderich Von Adler's armor & play in it as Reinhardt.
6. He has another voice line in game that we hear in this short, "Barrier is failing."
7. We get to see more of the Omnic Crisis & watch a young, cocky Reinhardt learn what it means to be a team player. He went from being the team's weapon to the team's shield.
8. The big bot that dropped from the sky was an OR-14 the predecessor to the OR-15s one of whom is Orisa (a playabale character).
9. We see how Reinhardt lost his eye & got the scar.
Also, he has a voice line in game that says "I am your shield" which is a reference to what Balderich says to him ("Be their shield")
One thing you forgot to mention: we also got to see what Rein was talking about in his convo voiceline with Pharah. She mentions that she had a poster of him when she was a kid, and he replies, "I remember the poster! My hair was amazing!" Based on this cinematic, he definitely wasn't kidding around. He did have amazing hair.
You also forgot to mention you can find Reinhardt's name carved in the bar/spawn room on the Eichenwald map....
Elijah Foltz One of Reinhardt's sprays is the poster from that voiceline....

A lesser-known thing about these Overwatch shorts: they were (and still are) an early adoption of a new CGI engine called Redshift, and especially in the first shorts, stood as a showcase that the engine was a viable competitor in the CG scene. Over the last couple of years, Redshift has been exploding in popularity in the pro CG market, and a good chunk of it is due to the efforts in the early Overwatch shorts. People are now talking about it coming head-to-head with Pixar Renderman, and possibly challenging Arnold (the current top Hollywood CG engine) in certain applications. Arnold still rules the very top of the market for a number of reasons, but the speed in which competitors are clawing for its throne is crazy. These Overwatch shorts have done more than people realize.

When I saw this the first few times I hated they made Reinhardt a massive douche that didn't get the message until his homie dies. But then very recently I had this sudden realization that "holy shit, that was me" because I was the guy in the beginning that hopped on Tanky ass Reinhardt then go DPS and not protect the team.
Well, I think that's the point. Blizzard was giving a lesson to all Rein's mains rushing alone and not protecting the team.
As a Mercy main, I watched this and was thinking "Omg, this is my life."
Me too, first times wich Rein i was going DPS hahaha now i know i have to be the shield and push the front line

This game needs a single player campaign.

The issue with a single player campaign is balancing. Every time a hero gets buffed or nerfed, it throws the campaign out of whack. Don't forget about reworks. Some stages would become impossible to beat because of it. Imagine a Symetra stage that required her supporting allies with shields. Can't do that anymore. Sure they could rework the stages, but that's more work they have to do that they could instead put towards other aspects of the game.

@@erikfriis Indeed it has. But it looks like instead of a full campaign. They're releasing PVE modes in chunks over time. So kinda somewhat like a scattered campaign mode.
Love Overwatch and play it everyday! I love how the shorts are always on the maps you play in the game. And Baldrich is still sitting on his throne in the game- which is why they did that cut to the washed over filter of his armor- that's how it appears in current time.
They lost that town and were forced to leave Col. Balderich behind. It wasn't until more "recent times" that they were able to reclaim that place, but even just seeing Reinhardt and the girl, you can see that it's still a ghost town. So sufficient time has passed, probably a good 30 years, that Balderich has mummified or most of the smelly bits have since long-passed. That entire castle is his tomb, basically. They couldn't move him and since they Omnic Threat dissipated, there was no need to move him. They already probably had a memorial for him with his body in absentia.
It's like WWII, all the towns that were destroyed and just left there.

Callie has a good point - the problem with the warcraft movie was that ppl disliked the live cast human side but LOVED the CGI orcs side. if the whole movie (humans included) had been cgi w/ better voice actors and no love story, it would have been received better for sure....although i wish there had been more rpg-class stuff like paladins and priests and rogues doing their special things rather than fighters & mages....really some missed opportunities.
and it got pirated like crazy.....lost revenue there but they released it late in US - 2 weeks late and ppl prefer to pirate than be spoiled online in their games
XD Pirating isn't as big of a problem as you think it is. The movie just wasn't received well.
Blizzard needs to do a movie... not like the warcraft movie that was just meeeh needs a real masterpiece.
Agreed...they need to forget about trying to do a live-action movie and just let the animators do what they do best...
Problem is, sometimes movies have too little time to cover everything. Which was Warcraft's problem. Do a series instead. Would give them much more time to cover all details in a epic way without rushing it.!
Warcraft movie: The Beginning seems like a missed opportunity. They should have started from Arthas' story who ended up being Lich King because this is the best arc in Warcraft universe in my opinion. Just like Lord of the Ring, instead of starting with Hobbit, they put the best arc as first movies to get a strong start.
Kristian Santosa would still be troublesome. You need to take into the account of introducing the audience to the world so they know whats happening. That will be a huge challenge if its a movie and not a series.
XD an Overwatch movie would be pretty easy, the call would simply be one last battle against crime. cx

Hate to disagree with you but, Battle for Azeroth cinematic was one of the worse cinematics Blizz has created. Over the top script with no subtleties. WotLK cinematic was the best in my opinion.
+Eric Hong Lmao, you mean the trailer where he summons a fucking ice dragon from beneath a frozen lake using a magic sword, and his army of bones rattle with blue magic? That kind of subtlety? Don't get me wrong, I prefer the Wrath cinematic, too, but I can't name a single Blizz cinematic with subtlety.

5:54 is easily the most badass moment, the close up and the music coupled together make that part so badass
The Warcraft movie was directed by an outsider director, written by outsider writers, cut and edited by outsider studio and even contained the soundtrack of an outsider composers. Blizzard sold the name and only had very small in the saying of the whole production. That's why the entire movie was unfamiliarly disappointed to most fans and totally out of interest of non-fan. If Blizzard actually did the whole movie and then sold it back to Legendary for distribution, it would have been much much much much much much much much better.

Yes the body is still in there, because according to the Crusader Oath and codes: all crusaders who are killed in action are to be left where they fall and their Tomb and grave marker is their Armor.

Great reaction! The place wouldn't stink tho, one because of the the fluids in the armor, and two: Because the body would have turned to dust long ago, and the room is open+spacious. There would probably still be a skeleton inside though.

I don’t play OW as much as I used to, but trailers like these always get me in the mood to keep playing. I hope that Blizzard can to an animated movie for OW or even a TV show, and same thing with Warcraft redeem it. I have a feeling Blizzard and Ubisoft can compete head on if they decide to branch off into cinematography

+Akasan To answer Callie's question about the Warcraft Movie, Number One, that was a Hollywood Movie. There was definitely Hollywood involvement in terms of decision making there. The Overwatch stuff is done as independent work by Blizzard. Number Two, Warcraft and Overwatch are two different groups of people within Blizzard. In my opinion, the Overwatch Team is the BEST Team Blizzard has going right now.

THe problem with the Warcraft movie is that they were force to mix animation with live.. and Hollywood fucked the movie as they always do with anything related to games. If Blizzard had full reigns I have no doubt it would have been a much bigger success

I still play from time to time.... But the toxicity and refusal to work as a unit, especially in solo que, makes it frustrating.... And watching the Overwatch League matches makes it worse because you get to see what the game can be with a 6 man team working together.... Then you log on and find zero teamwork like 95% of the time....

Ha, the 7 minutes of this is better than most of the Transformer movies combine.
Warcraft the movie was not nearly as high quality as their cinematics, and mixed CGI with actual actors/props. It was a bad decision. They should have gone full CGI, and only used voice acting. We all know the teams working on the cinematics do a better job than almost all the directors we've ever come across. All the director did in the end, was twist the original story into a much simpler, and more boring one.
(not to mention that he left out ALL the demons, and there was an army of them to show).
