Nice, and a km from my home; the review convinced me to buy one, tested it this morning and it flies fine (so far). Incidentally I concur that the manual doesn't mention gyro calibration but I did that, and at least on mine it is initiated by both joysticks down and to the left, not right. Maybe that's why some people are not getting it to work. 4 o'clock for magnetometer calibration, 7 o'clock for gyro calibration.

This is the first review of the HS720R that made a good grade! All the others gave it a failing grade! But with your review, perhaps I should reconsider the HS720R.
I haven’t had any issues myself but have seen several that have. I’m about to do a flight review of the HS600 which is supposed to be a solid drone and has not had the same problems that seems to be frequent with the 720 models
Very fun tutorial. I am new to the drone thing. Had a 720E that went bonkers on me after about a dozen flawless flights. Sent it back and got this one. So far I am impressed. It is very quiet. So many features. I do photography so the settings and terms I understand. Someone that doesn't have that pre-requisite knowledge on top of learning the vehicle has a steep learning curve. There was a time when I thought that flying a drone was as easy as "start it up" and go. Not so much. But I am 68 yo and it feels good to knock the cobwebs loose and learn some new stuff. And then there is the maze FAA, TRUST, etc. requirements. BUT, I am retired so time isn't an issue. Hope this puppy doesn't act up like it's cousin did. Happy Flying and thanks for the video. Really nice Dan ! Some good inflight shots. I’m not really into camera’s much , but this camera was really nice. I especially like the zoom feature even if it’s not the best zoom! Nice that Follow Me Worked pretty well. Tell your son A1 job on the ground Cam! All the best bud! 👊🏼😎

I see you had some issues with this drone. Donnie had really bad Toilet bowling. Mine was great though. I had no issues with mine so I got very lucky. I actually sent mine to Addam at Addams playground and he has flown it multiple times with no issues. The compass issues and TBE seems to be an issue that either affects a drone or not and one can do it and the other never will which is bizarre
Hey Ryan, yeah it had 1 toilet bowling episode other than that it was good. I’m not sure why Holystone doesn’t look at correcting this it seems to be a compass issue with most if not all of their GPS drones for years now. I know not everyone has issues but there’s enough people who do which is somewhat concerning.

@@Van_City I'm thinking they may have bought a huge batch of compasses and some of them are bad though you would expect a bad compass to give bad readings all the time so I'm not sure what to think. I can only think of two Holy Stone drones I've reviewed, and I've reviewed all of them, that had major issues and that was the 720e that has phantom control problem that is widespread and they never fixed it and the 720g which seemed to be a bad unit because it was a GPS issue. They sent me a new one and it was fine. All of my issues have been with the 720 family but I know you said you had issues with the 175D. My 175D was perfect though
@@RDsRCReviews yeah my HS175D had some toilet bowling and tried to fly away during my flight review but was fine from there on. It might be that they are sensitive to interference as it was only isolated to the 1 time and didn’t happen again.
@@Van_City yeah it could be a flight controller programming issue for sure
Good test flight with the new 720R, seemed to fly decent and the TBE issue seems to be common on these holystones, I've had a couple models do it as well. Oh BTW cheers for the shout out, I gained a new subscriber 😂
I was holding my breath the entire video! My first flight hovered for about 4 seconds, then came straight for my head, missed, but went on to hit a metal pole, then concrete. Still ran, so hit the holy stone global group, and it seems 95% of the R 's are having serious issues, while the other 5% are fine. A guy in the group said said to set the GYRO.
It says nothing in the book about it, just like it doesn't in the 700E manual, but it fixed mine. After you put sticks down right to calibrate compass, then put them down right AGAIN and hold for 2 seconds, it calibrates the gyro. I had nothing to lose, tried it, it worked!! Other people have tried it and it did not work, but it did for me. If you ever have trouble, I hope it works for you. Great video‼️👍👍🦾🦾🤘🤘
Yeah looking at other reviews there does seem to be several reports of issues with this model. I actually had a similar issue that I’ll be using in a follow up video. 5 seconds in the air and then it flew off on its own and crashed. I realized I had not calibrated the compass once calibrated it was fine.
