BART's Complete Transbay Tube Trip Out of San Francisco

- Experience the transit agency's marquee Transbay Tube ride from San Francisco to the East Bay aboard an 8-car train, as it travels into Oakland during the weekday morning commute.
In this 5-8 minute cross-bay trip -- one of the most frequently traveled sections of BART -- passengers are treated to clear views of the Port of Oakland and MacArthur Maze, while traveling over Interstate 880. Embarcadero is BART's final San Francisco stop for all trains continuing onto the East Bay, while West Oakland is the first East Bay station for all trains coming out of San Francisco.
The audio from this train was used in Dead Space, when you come out of zero G and go through the airlock to that crazy loud room hahaha
I like how it's not so loud anymore ever since they ran the rail grinder on the tracks.

Wow a childhood friend and I went on this just after they finished the tube we had to get on in Daly City that was the last stop then. The friend I went with passed away 6 months ago from cancer. Thinking about you Bob RIP my dear old friend.
I really do miss those C2 cars
Can't forget BART's signature metal screeching noises when metal is on metal. Why not lightly coat the rails with something like rubber or something? Would it wear down to where it would be cheaper to just keep it loud at the expense of people's hearing? As a kid it didn't bother me, now as a teen it's sounds like a hellish scream.
there was one time where i thought i was going to go deaf if i tried to cross cars while the train was in motion.
The BART reminds me of the London Underground Deep level lines tbh. This does sound like the central line when its speeding theough the tunnels at speed!

Thank god for the rail grinding some years back, istg I had migraines every other day from the constant screeching of the metal 🥴 I just couldn’t get my head around it at all
I always time this tunnel ride when I'm going to and from work........it's about 4:30 each way........one time this took about 5:40 going to work from the east bay
Try turning up the volume and then listening without watching...awesome cacophony. Reminds me of the Gyorgy Ligeti chorale in "2001." Even more of a religious experience in person. :)

Sadly the C2 cars (the one in this video) were phased out in 2021 and are no longer in service

And it seems endless
well for one reason why is because if an earthquake hits its could rupture the walls down there under water as it travels under water thats why but other than that its safe as always i rode it when i lived there in san francisco back in 1989 when october 17 quake hit but its was safe of course all of us had to get out of tunnel and walk back to get above surface. i was okay though.. not a bad thing at all its nice to ride it saves you time
