My dads friend took his test and the examiner said his indicators were broken and he had to use hand signals and said using hand signals id like you to take the next right turning. He stuck his hand out of the window with the one hand and changed gear with the other. Leaving no hands on the wheel. The examiner passed him... the examiner was looking out of the passenger window and didn’t see what he had done

I also took my driving test in the 80's, I was convinced I'd done ok, didn't stall at all during the test and everything else seemed to be alright with my driving, got back to the test centre and answered a few questions on the Highway code, feeling confident I was gutted when the examiner informed me I had failed, I had made one mistake during the test which my examiner had marked down as a dangerous fault, I was waiting at a junction to turn right and it was quite busy so was sat there a while, my mistake was I forgot to apply my handbrake and quite rightly was marked as dangerous, My instructor was really positive with me afterwards which helped a lot because I was really down in the dumps, retook my test a few weeks later and passed.

I was struggling to read the licence plate too so I said what it looked like to me and a couple of letters I guessed. Was thinking I’d deffo blown it but looked at the examiner and he was cleaning his glasses and also struggling to read it 😂. Passed that test a month ago :)
I passed my driving test last week, got 8 minors and managed to pull it off behind a operating LGV doing loads of hill starts with other learners l met at centre behind me in their tests and it might had cut the test time shorter as l could see examiner doing everything quicker. It was nerve racking, wish LGV wasnt there as waited 8 mins or more which means valuable test time decreased so we share the similar story lol. Thanks to you videos though, watching and learning had helped me a lot!
Hi I know this isn’t related to the video but I have had a good few lessons now, I seem to be to close ( near parked cars)to the left or the right so my basically my positioning of the road isn’t good most of the time. How can i improve this- hope it doesn’t sound silly to ask :) I can’t centre very well.
Also I can’t concentrate very well as well how I can stay more concentrated.
The 80s were 👍🏻...My lessons began in 2002, passed in 2008 when I should’ve done it in the early 90s as a 17 year old. Doing theory/hazard perception tests have made me better driver...not sure how I’d have coped with independent driving
My dad passed his driving a week before theory was introduced on uk and he passed in 1996 and his first car was a 1979-1981 toyota corolla in silver it was rare model as well. He had that till 2003. I passed my driving in 2018 and I really wish I was back then in the 90s and had my car then today I would had cheap insurance.

Long back in the day driving test didn't exist it only first got introduced in 1935 so can you imagine those days people just buying a car and not know what to do 😐

The day I passed my test I was asked to drive to the end of the test centre car park and turn right. Got to the end of the car park and stalled. I thought oh god here we go. 5th fail for me. Passed with 3 minor faults. One of those was the stall. Been driving 2 years now

Hi.. as you live in milton Keynes.. i have one doubt about roundabouts.. i am just comparing brinklow roundabout with denbigh roundabout.. if you check using Google satellite view.. both roundabouts are similar.. but the markings are different.. i wondering are they same ? So I have to imagine the denbigh roundabout markings in brinklow roundabout?
They are not the same, Denbigh is a spiral roundabout and brinklow is a standard roundabout
@@JamesTravis thanks for the reply. Both have the same number of in and out. Why they make it different? Is it bcz of the traffic? Possible to explain a but more please?

Good luck, remember you don't have to impress the examiner just show you're safe! And if you're watching these videos it shows you're pretty sensible so it sounds like you'll do well 😋

Would you say it was easier then than it is now ??
I think it is now harder for the learner on the roads. They have to learn how to drive on busier roads compared to the traffic from 30 years ago.
I’ve got mine soon, will be 3rd time as I keep being sick so I hope it all goes to plan. feel I’ve got it under control now :)

Learn-to-drive Travis I have my driving test tomorrow morning. This will be my 1st attempt, I would have taken it in June but cancelled wasn't quite ready. Any last minute tips?
