I’m glad to hear there is a lot of love for this weapon. Variety always makes games better. I’m going to try this combo. I’ve never used those together.
lvl 125 HD 2 and HD 1 veteran here. The pummeler is probably my #1 or #2 favorite gun. It doesn't hit the hardest, or fire the fastest, but I find it to be the most, reliable. I don't use it for sustained fire on an enemy to lock them in place, but to kill small enemies, and stagger medium enemies. They drop their guard and you/someone else hits them with something stronger. I paid it with the Verdict for the armor piercing. The stagger keeps enemies off you, the weapon fires slowly enough to have manageable recoil, damage on target, and you don't burn through your magazines, and allows you to use it while also carrying supplies. You can easily use it to escape danger, get to an objective, and keep moving. If you want to use it as your primary weapon, you'll find it disappointing. It's like a hyper powered second weapon, which will support your other weapons, your teammates, and other stratagems. If you're trying to be the main damage dealer, pick something else, but I most appreciate the ability to stagger Devastators. Hit them anywhere and they immediately stop firing at you, then pop out your Verdict and get a few shots in, done and done. The weapon is mostly useless against the larger enemies, but if you have something else to deal with that, like the Eagle 110mm Rocket Pods, you'll be entirely covered. It fits the bill well for an extremely well rounded and reliable kit. Not every kit, but certain very good ones. Based on your review I can see that you're going in as a damage dealer, but you're using the Pummeler against medium enemies. It's for swarms of little enemies. Use the Verdict to head-shot medium enemies, and the Pummeler for the swarms and stagger. You can likely mow down an entire bot battalion with the Pummeler, then hit the strong guys with something else. Lots of people try using their pistol or a special stratagem for the swarms of enemies, but then you're wasting a stronger weapon option for the trashiest enemies. Ironically, we see you using the weapon on higher difficulties with the Recoilless Riffle, but you're using it to kill chargers already tagged with grenades, meaning you're killing bugs that would already die, and "wasted" weapon slot because you wanted to kill the bugs faster. Admittedly, it's not a great weapon for higher missions, but that's because there're fewer small enemies swarming you, and medium tier enemies swarm you, so you literally need more killing power to get to the objectives. I usually do that by using multiple tools to kill the tanks, then whatever gets me through the swarm of medium tier enemies, but you still need the ability to counter stalkers, because they're way worse on higher difficulties.
@@FurryEskimo wow thanks for the input. You have a lot of good info about the pummeler. In the video I’m just shooting it at everything to showcase the stun effect. When I make these I try to only show video of the gun I’m talking about so people can see how it might work against whatever I’m shooting. It’s a pain to get the footage because it is hard to just kill stuff with whatever I’ve making a video about. Some enemies don’t like to die to the review gun. It’s a basic overview, but I think a follow up video later for advanced use of said weapon would help people use it better. If I get to the advanced weapon vids, I’ll put your strategies in there for the pummeler. I have a long way to go on the basic reviews first. There’s a lot of guns and then strats.
@@ZanthiaGames No worries at all, I liked your review, and I believe it makes sense based on your experience with it, and the context under which you are reviewing a weapon. You are correct, it does not have the killing power that some other weapons do, and I think that's a fair criticism. I only gravitated towards it after a long time of trying other weapons. I realize that there was a statistic not documented by many, and it was a weapon's ability to stop incoming damage. The pummeler might not be able to output a lot of damage, but the amount of damage that it can stop, is substantial.
@ I love these conversations. It makes me think outside my own thoughts and I learn a few things. On my next days off work I will doing the sg 8 punisher. I’ve been using it for about a week and I’m starting to like it. I fully thought I was going to hate it and it surprised me.
@@ZanthiaGames My guess is that weapon fits your plate style a bit better. It's heavy and has penetration, which will serve you well if you're trying to pick off the stronger enemies that break through, or if you're firing into a swarm of medium enemies. Probably not great for smaller enemies though which swarm on medium levels, and on acid planets the extra penetration power may be overkill. I think it's just a bit too slow for my liking, as I tend to scout more and don't have my teammates to deal with the crowds of scouts, and I don't remember it having the knockback and rate of fire required to keep faster enemies at bay.
I can definitely see its uses, but as a Balliatic Shield specialist, I think the SMG-37 is just better for bots. The lower ROF would be quite annoying on cold planets, and I do believe that for aspiring Ballistic Shield recruits, the SMG-37's availability is too good to ignore, being on the Helldivers Mobilize free Warbond, compared to the Pummeler being on the Polar Patriots premium Warbond. Additionally, the lower DPS would definitely be detrimental. I can see its usefulness on Terminids though, being able to run away and stun at the same time. (This is coming from an individual who runs the Ballistic Shield with the B-27 Fortified Commando armour on difficulty 10 Automatons, alongside a Quasar Cannon support weapon)
something I notice that doesn't get mentioned or noted often, is weapon sway. the sway on SMG's is non-existant. It shoots where ever you point at them. It's a good compliment with weapons with large sways like the HMG or MG-43. The quicker bugs like pouncers and hunters are much harder to track with those bigger guns.
@@krishnavandewalle9459 agreed. When I’m not making videos I almost always play a machine gunner of some sort. The viper commando armor makes that weapon drag a lot better, I have a hard time now using them without that armor.
Thank you for supporting the channel. Tell me what you think of this SMG. It falls fairly hard into the support category.

Thank you commander darkwolf! I’ve recently supported super earth by using my super credits to purchase the warbond, very excited to use it!

I'm usually running Grenade Launcher as a "primary", and treat the Pummeler as my "stay out of my face" backup weapon. I do enjoy it!
