As someone who has a solid understanding of the timeline and has been a fan of the series since early childhood, this is a great video. It's always nice to see more people join the fandom.
I got curious and watched OOT video a few days ago but I’m really confused so I hope this video clears things up because I want to know what’s going on from the beginning
@01:04:13 Actually Breath of the Wild merges all 3 timelines and gives reference to each of them in-game such as Zelda anointing Link a knight saying - "And have proven yourself worthy of the blessings of the Goddess Hylia. Whether skyward bound, adrift in time, or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight... the sacred blade is forever bound to the soul of the Hero." Zelda is referring to Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess. Picking up one of the many materials found in Breath of the Wild, you'll notice an interesting description about one of them. Rock Salt refers to a 'Great Sea' at one point that swept over Hyrule hinting at the Adult Link timeline and The Wind Waker. Breath of the Wild is confirmed by Nintendo that it unifies all three timelines into one, effectively restarting the entire Zelda timeline.
@@davyx_max831 Honestly, I feel like that was more Nintendo being salty that it was resolved fairly well in a spinoff game that wasn't really made by them as they've really gone out of their way to point out time and time again that the first Hyrule Warriors is NOT part of the timeline. And if they REALLY want to play that game, the fans can shove this line from their own encyclopedia right up their own ass: "The timeline can be interpreted in a number of ways, and may change depending on new discoveries that have come to light and on the player's imagination." Keep in mind that we're talking about writers that didn't initially confirm a timeline split when the theory was first floated as people started to realize that WW/TP both didn't mesh with each other, and that when they finally did acknowledge it, they only acknowledged TWO timelines instead of three, and since announcing there were actually three timelines in play they've also done nonsensical things like flipping the placement of LA and the Oracle games multiple times. To top it off, once BotW was released, the only timeline acknowledgement it ever gets is that it takes place "after" OoT at the "end" of the timeline with zero commitment to which timeline we're talking about. That in itself on the heels of Hyrule Warriors is essentially what started this whole mess in the first place. In other words: if Nintendo is going to act cute and toss out that "timeline interpretation" crap while constantly shuffling the damn thing around, then they best not act surprised when people call them out on their BS with trying to declare Hyrule Warriors as non-canon. You go ahead and take Nintendo at their word if you want, but if I'm being frank on the matter? Yeah, I think they lowkey laugh at the Zelda fanbase for putting this much energy into it in the first place and that they purposely do nonsensical things with it just to irritate us.
no matter how much zelda timeline videos i watch i never get tired of it. i love the Zelda timeline, i like talking about it, like listening about it. your video is fantastic
My headcanon is that in the time between the 3 timelines and botw Hyrule was destroyed, again, and then the Zoni appeared and refounded it around 30,000+ years ago. Also the Zoni are the people from skyloft that stayed and became super advanced
My favorite theory for ToTK and BoTW is that both games take place tens of thousands of years into the future and Zelda travelling back in time basically merged the three timelines into one via some sorta time ripple and that's why games from all three timelines are mentioned
BotW takes place 20,000 years after the timeline ends. That is an incredibly long time in which a lot can happen. So probably all three timelines end up at BotW because it’s just that far into the future
Really great video, over the years I've heard tidbits of the lore and the triple timeline stuff but never delved into it. But this video really put into perspective how how confusing the lore can be but also very interesting. Always love when you talk about the development as well can't wait for the Megaman HGH.
THIS!!!! THIS is why the Zelda series is so special. It captivates people to the extent that they make full on dissertations on the subject. There’s thousands of these types of videos out there and as a Zelda veteran I sit and watch every single one! There is just something about this series man……best all around video game franchise imo. The lore, the music, the history, EVERYTHING it’s pioneered /done for the industry is simply astounding. It’s literally peerless. Great vid man, liked and subbed .
Being a link that uses the four sword has to be the most fun. Link seems like he’s always on a lonely adventure UNTIL he rolls up with his crew of best friends
As a long time fan ever since i got A Link To The Past for my SNES when i was like 4. I enjoy all content relating to this series. At age 6 i was blessed with my first Gamecube and The Zelda Master Collection which just sent me even further down the rabbit hole. This series is just... such a journey.
During Ocarina of Time, the villagers from Hyrule Castle Town escape to Kakariko Village, not Kokiri Forest. Hylians can't get into Kokiri Forest, they'll end up in The Lost Woods and become Stalfos or Skull Kids. But otherwise great job!! 😊
One theory I've heard/watched about how BOW and TOTK connects to the other games is that the time-traveling done in Skyward Sword created a timeline split similar to the one in Ocarina of Time. "The Untold Story The Lost Timeline of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom" by TH-camr HMK. Though I like the one presented here too.
I literally just started getting into Legend of Zelda and this is such a great explanation of everything so THANK YOU!! Cannot wait to dive even deeper into this incredible world!
You know, I look at the timelines as representing each of the main characters. The child timeline is Link, the adult timeline is Zelda and the fallen timeline is Ganon (or the bringer of demise). Kinda cool to think about. Out of all the explanations I've seen, you, sir are the GOAT. Very well edited and narrated. Thanks so much for this. Subbed.
I simply think everything that takes place in TOTK is the beginning of a new timeline all together. The symbol being an ouroboros represents a loop or infinite. I feel this means that this game is meant to reflect skyward sword. TOTK mirrors skyward sword in many ways between the floating islands, the breaking and rebuilding of the master sword, Zelda “sleeping” for a very very very long time, the demon king, etc. in my opinion it represents the start of a new beginning or the timeline basically looping itself all over again
@zeyolivetree someone who has been paid to discuss and explain the zelda timeline (and other time manipulations narraitvies) for creative writing workshops at university 😌
@@gmjjjones that’s pretty cool. respectfully, i really don’t think it’s so complicated that you’d have to hire someone to explain a split timeline, but i won’t pretend i wouldn’t want to do exactly that.
@zeyolivetree tbf, the basic timeline is kind of like a warmup for how time travel narratives can both work and become overly convoluted... totk is the main focus these days because it is such a clean causal loop. It's also not the only franchise I've discussed, but it's a good start for newer writers to recognize the difficulties of creating even a basic time travel narrative. I'm a big believer that your narrative should work without any supernatural elements, and this particular timeline is a great example of three possible arcs for a character. The question I like to present is "can it work without time travel?" Imo, two of the timelines could work without it, but because adult link is sent back, only the fallen hero timeline actually progresses as linear time from Ocarina through adventures of link
You managed to tackle the legend of Zelda timeline with more ease than you think. I believe you can burn through the Kingdom Hearts timeline with no issue. I understand your strong opinions on it. But I think you should give it a shot. I think you could do it.
@zedorian6547 depends on who you are and how well you take in multiple pieces of information at once. I myself am heavily into lore seeking from video games that I play kingdom hearts is no exception and I'm also heavily diagnosed with adhd so I sporadically take in many different types of information at once and it's easy for me to remember them because I associate it with visual and sometimes audio cues that allow me to remember those bits of information. But that's just me. Everyone's different.
The force refers to the Triforce. In A Link Between Worlds it's explained that the Triforce is connected to the continued existence of the world itself. Thus, it lives in all things. Tapping into a small amount of it is to tap into the Triforce remotely and borrow its power in limited bursts.
The chronological order of the legendary stories of Link and Zelda: creation - triforce - prequel timeline: skyward sword. The minish Cap. Four sword. Ocarina of time. The sealed palace. Child timeline: Majora's mask. Twilight princess. Four sword adventures. Adult timeline: The wind waker. Phantom hourglass. Spirit tracks. Unfallen hero timeline: A Link to the past. Oracle of Seasons and ages. Link's Awakening. A Link between worlds. Triforce heroes. Zelda 1. Zelda 2. Champion timeline: Hyrule warriors. Age of calamity. Breath of the wild. Relics of the past. And tears of the kingdom+ good future
This video was very well done Donte the Zelda sound effecrs was KILLIN ME and I learned som much about the series I didnt more before especially for the games I didnt play which was a LOT OF THEM! And I cant wait to see the Megamen next thats gonna be a wild one to cover it such a classic. Just know your hard work always shows Donte shoutout to you and your editor and everyone that helped fr.
OK, so I just finished this video, I want to call it a presentation (because you added so much to the telling of the lore while being so focused) I love the way you presented this presentation. you are so charismatic and the amount of energy & personality you bring to this presentation is something that shouldn’t go ignored, but aside from that the editing the music, the love and care, the details how everything on screen was on point with what you were talking about, is simply amazing and I can’t believe that you managed to put this out in the time you have 🔥🤩 I am extremely proud of you friend! I will be watching this from start to finish in one sit through again just because I enjoyed it so much! You covered one of my favorite game series in the best way possible 🤩 thank you we appreciate all the hard work you put into your craft. Thank you to your editors thank you to your thumbnail artist. Everyone did a phenomenal job.🦾🦾
this is such a good concise, interesting way to explain the timeline!!! you killed this. a great watch for long term fans and new people interested in zelda 💕 also “monkey d tetra” KILLED ME
Great job! This was beautifully done, and welcome to the series! My first game was Majora's Mask, and my favorite is still Wind Waker, even after BOTW and TOTK.😊 Btw, Ganon's latest design is now called "Suaveamente"
The Legend of Zelda is the first game I ever beat, and I've been a huge Zelda mark ever since. This video not only cleared up some confusion I had regarding the timelines, but earned you a subscriber. Strong work.
I still don't get how everyone doesn't understand: breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom are in an alternate universe. Now, everything from past games CAN happen in THIS universe, but in a VERY different way. Like say all the final bosses that were ganon in past games, aren't ganon, but are influenced by his hate that comes out from beneath hyrule castle. It makes the most sense
Btw for those wondering, no we will not be getting a dlc for totk cause they announced months ago that they're moving on to a new zelda project, meaning not only the new movie, but also a brand new zelda game
I remember asking for this five years ago, in the middle of your last stream of playing Kingdom Hearts: Chains Of Memories and even back then, you said how frightened you were from the amount of research, script writting, recording and editing involved. Damn, time flies by! Pushing through such a huge mission, impresses the hell out of someone like me, who gets tempted procrastinate in the face large tasks. To express my mad respect, here a quote of a certified menace: "Stand proud, bro. You're strong!" 🤝
As someone who's been a Zelda fan since OoT, you absolutely nailed this bro! I would wholeheartedly recommend this video to anyone who wants an easy intro into Zelda & its lore. You got a sub from me dawg.
I’m surprised this man conscience isn’t here to start the bullsh like always lol but I always knew how this timeline was nuts through a lot of theory videos and lore dumps. (Game theory and others) I love it and this video was an awesome take on this franchise. Awesome start to 2024 bro. We here for the long run.
this is the most dope timeline i've ever seen for zelda thanks bro. I'm also glad more people have been sponsored my gsupps i would definitely recommend grampa's ashes and lean
Thank you - *The Black Mastadonte* - for another *Honest Game History* like with God of War. *The Legend of Zelda* is a beautiful franchise filled with adventure and interesting characters. Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf are acknowledged deeply no doubt about it. Let's enjoy 2024.
I've just recently gotten back into the LoZ lore and timeline after like 7 ish years and I've been watching so many timeline videos, but yours truly is THEE video that made me understand not just how this timeline works but how the games actually are played / what the story is, given I've only played a few. Your explanation was easy to follow as well as was very fun, chill, and if I haven't mentioned it enough VERY INFORMATIVE. Preciate you for your time on this one cos WHEW !!
Thank you so much for this kind comment. It's crazy cause making this video was the first time I really dived into the timeline. So glad I could make it it make sense.
1:04:27 I remember hearing a theory from Game Theory that the first Hyrule Warriors brought all 3 timelines back together into the original timeline again before the Legends of Zelda Breath of the Wild. Love your videos man! Keep it up! 😊
AoC is canon in a since, but it creates another timeline split that I'm sure won't be addressed again because everything is pretty much wrapped up there. Also, in that game, Tareko *sure I spelled it wrong* traveling back in time created a butterfly effect that changed a lot from the events leading to BotW *such as when Link gets the MasterSword, when they would've met with the Champions, specifically Ravoli, etc.*
I love the "Force" theory, mostly because Star Wars has it's own force based magic users and Gods, plus a connection between Star Wars and The Legend of Zelda would be awesome.
Just like the GoW lore, no matter how many vids I watch and knowledge Ik, I’ll always take the time out to hear you explain it in your style. It’s always worth the watch. I was locked just from having the nostalgia moment with the intro music Keep walking in your path, bro. This truly is your calling. Numerous blessings
Hey @TheBlackMastadonte , I'm really enjoying your content!! Happy to see passionate people about videogames that I care talking from the heart. Thank you so much for doing these videos and bringing me sooo many good old memories! Man, I feel old hahaha, cheers!
found your channel a year and half ago, when I watched your Jedi Fallen Order video. Thought you were hilarious AND knowledgable - but like an idiot, I didn't subscribe so when I wanted to share your video with my wife, I couldn't find it (I had my history tracking turned off). Anyway after sometime I finally found your channel, subscribed and caught up on your other COMPLETE story videos. These videos are for sure my favorite of yours. I think its really cool how you much you appreciate your audience and tell us as much throughout your video. The pleasure is all ours! also where was Conscience at in this video? have you consifered doing a nuzlocke a la Alpharad's videos? I feel like your comedy is on par if not better. would love to see it.
Great video bro, I was engaged with your storytelling for the whole time. I’ve tried to research the lore many times before and I was always left a bit confused, but you summed it up the best way across the whole internet and have left me satisfied. You should be proud of yourself, you made a banger.
54:15 so your half correct this version of link, *IS* just some random kid, the only reason he left was to save his sister However along the way, he proved himself WORTHY of the title of the hero.
As someone who is old enough to have been around for the beginning of the entire Zelda "universe", this is definitely a well put together and organized video. Making sense of the entire world is tough as it is. Nice to know that the younger generation will still find something interesting and worth while to work on a video like this. And yes. I made it to the end. I love these kind of videos and Zelda is one of my favorites as well. Double whammy. Thank you for the effort!
I played the original zelda when it came out on NES back in kindergarten, and I've played every title since. It's so good to see a new generation continuing with the love of this game series.
Absolutely great video. One thing I want to note regarding the timeline post BotW. At one point, a spinoff title of all things potentially merged the three timelines back together: the original Hyrule Warriors. Storyline wise Ganondorf's soul was fragmented and sealed in different moments of time. The resurrection plot of this game pulls in heroes from various games/timelines, and from there we get the gameplay of your typical Warriors game. Ganondorf is resealed, the various characters return to their original timelines, and while it isn't outright said, the general assumption among the fanbase was that the game FINALLY put an end to the timeline split as it was one of the last big releases in the series before BotW was released at the start of 2017. It would have been a nice, neat way of finally tying it all back together and putting an end to the headaches that the timeline split tends to cause regarding the lore, especially as BotW references ALL THREE TIMELINES in various ways and didn't contradict HW at any point. Nintendo being Nintendo however, apparently this was all too neat for them, so they just HAD to go out of their way to declare Hyrule Warriors as non-canon, even going so far as to blatantly state this fact in one of the very lore related guidebooks you mention in the video. Aonuma himself has also gone on record to call it a "separate dimension" and was very careful to not use the word "timeline" when he did this, and I honestly feel like TotK straight up ignoring established lore and events was almost Nintendo's way of straight up mocking folks that take the timeline/lore aspects of the series seriously. Honestly, at this point, I'm not even sure Nintendo/Aonuma/Miyamoto care as much about the timeline as the fans seem to. It was essentially "fanon" that there was a timeline split due to the events of OoT, and when Nintendo finally confirmed that there was indeed a split in 2007, it was originally only TWO timelines: the Adult Timeline following the moment the Hero of Time is sent back, and the Child Timeline from the moment he returns. The Child Timeline was as straightforward as it currently is leading to MM>TP>FSA while the Adult Timeline led to WW and PH (which was newly released at the time) before leading into the original games (LttP>LoZ>AoL) as well as the sequels to LttP (LA>OoA/S) And then they released Hyrule Historia in 2011 and dropped the bombshell that there were THREE timelines in play: Child, Adult, and Downfall (Link dies fighting Ganon in OoT). It was at that point that they moved the original games into this timeline. Not only that, but it seems they can't even make up their minds on this part of the timeline. For YEARS it was accepted that LA came before the Oracle Duology, but then for some inexplicable reason they turned around and changed it to Oracle first, Awakening later, only to CHANGE IT BACK LATER! They even acknowledged this nonsense with the following line: "Attentive readers may note that the timeline shown here differs slightly from the one found in Hyrule Historia. The timeline can be interpreted in a number of ways, and may change depending on new discoveries that have come to light and on the player's imagination." I almost feel like that's Nintendo lowkey saying "Yeah, we don't care, so stop putting so much energy into this! lol!" It certainly doesn't help that Aonuma has said multiple times that BotW takes place "at the end of the timeline after OoT" without clarifying WHICH timeline is in play, not to mention the fact that it almost seems like some story elements from TotK were purposely written just to namedrop important lore events while drastically changing them in ways that don't fit in with ANY timeline. Honestly, I feel like Nintendo is messing with us more than anything else at this point.
Your rambling about game lore is the main reason I come to this channel it like watching a movie no cap 🧢 please keep it up not like those anime that only do one season and don't finish the story
As someone who loves lore in general, and have a special place in my heart for Zelda, there's no way I wouldn't watch the entire thing 😂 I think you did it justice. Thx ❤️🔥💪🏾
I feel Wind Waker Link is just another Spirit of the Hero., prior to SS the random kid who became a hero theory makes sense but afterwards not so much. Granted it doesn't help that the game gives that feel due to all the Old Hyrule characters literally worshipping the Hero of the Time, they aren't aware that Link and Zelda return whenever a threat arises. I wouldn't be surprised if there was actually a hero during the flood era too but either failed or wasn't recognized due to the HoT legend. As for ST, despite being in a new kingdom, I'm certain the rules still apply, especially with Zelda still there. As you mentioned, the previous titles are only seen as myths and legends in the eyes of the people of Hyrule, or rather that they happened so long ago (in this case botw and totk are so far in the future) that they distinguish facts from legends. So while all the previous games did happen, they're only seen as legends in the modern day of BotW/TotK. Even the founding of Hyrule in TotK, is suggested by the head director of TotK that the founding scenes we see may be a refounding of Hyrule long after the original was destroyed. The head director said that the story is intended to not break the already established lore so it makes sense despite being one of many possibilities. The refounding theory to me makes sense and doesn't break the lore.
I’ve been playing and loving the Zelda games ever since the first game came out on the NES (yes I’m that old). I discovered your video due to TH-cam’s algorithm noticing the number of Zelda videos I watch. You say you didn’t know much about the series prior to making this video, but you did a fantastic job explaining one of the most confusing and convoluted timelines in video gaming. Loved your video, and I’ll have to check out more of your stuff!
Really enjoyed this timeline video , your enthusiasm is brilliant and you did am awesome job of explaining it . The legend of zelda has been one of my favourite game series since I was a kid in the 80's .
54:18 I think, between finding the Pearls, re-blessing the Master Sword, and rebuilding the Triforce of Courage, WW Link may not have been chosen but he BECAME the Hero of Winds through sheer determination and courage. Spirit Tracks, idk. Maybe he had the Gods' favor after what WW/PH Link did, reigniting the torch of the chosen hero?
I haven’t finished the video, and I don’t know if I want to until I play TotK, but I’d just like to say this is an amazing video that makes the timeline incredibly easy to follow, and you’ve definitely earned a sub. Also, I’d like to share a couple theories relating to Twilight Princess and the Adult Timeline. I forget which youtuber proposed this theory, but it basically states that after Link returns from Termina, him and Malon grow up together and eventually settle down and have a kid of their own. From there, the same thing that happened before Ocarina happens before TP. Link joins the Hyrulean Royal Army before he can teach his son how to fight, gets caught in a skirmish where he’s the last man standing, and eventually dies. Malon gets attacked and flees to the forest where she leaves TP Link with the inhabitants before succumbing to her own wounds. And I just really like this theory because it explains why TP Link is a farmhand as well as why a the Hero’s Shade is wearing knight’s armor, but it also makes Malon’s vocal sample in the Hyrule Field Night theme really sweet. It’s like she’s watching over her son 😭 Now, as far as the Adult Timeline, yeah, there’s another theory that Wind Waker Link is actually the key to breaking Demise’s curse since he’s not actually a descendant of The Hero. He’s just a kid.
Let's take a moment to appreciate the longer honest gaming history episodes 🙏 I understand they take a long time to do and we get them in fewer months increments but we truly enjoy them
@zedorian6547 how's that exactly? I mean I think I get the time-line not matching up yet the heros and the villian costumes are the same as the previous games.
Dude!! This was an amazing video!!! T’was a well spent hour twenty-five! Well done on this! I appreciate how you narrated the whole story. I was very immersed in the story!
I read in some TH-cam comment that apparently in Japanese 10,000 years is used to describe any long amount of time, so the botw backstory doesn't necessarily actually take place 10,000 years ago
I don’t fw with Zelda but you’ve made a video about it so now I do 😂 You should consider an honest gaming history of the Darksiders series Great lore With this out the way let me get some food to eat with this and be blessed by this for the next hour 🤞🏼
Just stumbled on your channel with this video and dude I love your production and quality of the video! Also your humor and in depth content is legendary! Consider me a fan!
My personal theory on the placement of TotK in the timeline, is that at some point after the last games of each respective timeline, some massive catastrophe happened that essentially wiped out all semblance of a civilization, people still survived, but Hyrule was gone, almost like what happened in the 100 year period between the second calamity and Link’s revival. I feel like this event was especially damaging in the adult timeline, because I also believe that the giant shelf on the northern and western sides of Hyrule was probably, at some point, New Hyrule, and that over time, the flood waters lowered
In Wind Waker they hint (and somewhat confirm) that Link has nothing to do with the OG heroes descended from Skyward Sword. Playing 2nd quest translates Red Lion's conversation with Jabun where he confirms this Link has no connection with the prior heroes and that is why he must complete the Tower of the Gods, to prove himself worthy of having his own hero's reincarnating spirit. Similarly the Master Sword was also sent back and does not wxist anymore, thus they made a new sword that is light blue instead of dark blue/purple, and must be continuously powered by 2 constant Sage's Prayers as opposed to just having the Goddesses never diminishing power imbued in Skyward Sword
Never heard of you. This is the first video from you I've seen. This is a REALLY well done vid, and extra props on the length and effort you went through
First video I've watched of yours, and watched all the way to the end, was amazing to hear all that lore in a proper as linier as possible way. It was very nicely done in terms of story telling for that amount of infomation :D
The lore is one of my favorite things about the Zelda series and I love how the there are so many games with a different and unique style and tone. I used to find it really weird that there were different characters named Link and Zelda but it all makes sense. I really hope there’s a Zelda anime one day but the closest thing we have is the Smash Bros Palutena trailer with Link fighting Pit
You are correct in that the wind waker link is not an actual descendent of the chosen hero. He instead basically "prayed" so hard for lack of a better word and forced the goddesses to make him the chosen hero of that time
Thanks so much for watching fam. Be sure to drop other characters and franchises you’d like to see me cover below 🔥

It does not merge the timelines, BotW takes place after every timeline, but depending on the timeline some of things said are myths or reality.
@@davyx_max831 Honestly, I feel like that was more Nintendo being salty that it was resolved fairly well in a spinoff game that wasn't really made by them as they've really gone out of their way to point out time and time again that the first Hyrule Warriors is NOT part of the timeline.

Omg I never thought about the zonai being the advanced civilization of people who stayed in sky loft

Ooh. It would be interesting if Nintendo made a game that took place between the original timeline and BOTW and TOTK.

My favorite theory for ToTK and BoTW is that both games take place tens of thousands of years into the future and Zelda travelling back in time basically merged the three timelines into one via some sorta time ripple and that's why games from all three timelines are mentioned
Either that or BoTW and ToTK take place after a merged timeline from the events of Hyrule warriors if the game is cannon.
BotW takes place 20,000 years after the timeline ends. That is an incredibly long time in which a lot can happen. So probably all three timelines end up at BotW because it’s just that far into the future

The lore, the music, the history, EVERYTHING it’s pioneered /done for the industry is simply astounding. It’s literally peerless. Great vid man, liked and subbed .
You're absolutely right bro. Thanks for watching
Being a link that uses the four sword has to be the most fun. Link seems like he’s always on a lonely adventure UNTIL he rolls up with his crew of best friends
That are also himself...
Is since its not 2nd pers sing or any plura ατ αιιl!!
Χωρίς
“Hey” “listen” (call Navi she’s crying)
The production, passion, the research, and the love that went into this worth it! Keep it up!
Thanks so much fam
As someone who has never finished a single zelda game, this video was a great look into the lore! I personally hope Agent 47 gets covered one day
Glad it helped fam
Hey that's me
Dude you nailed this video! As a zelda timeline expert, i am proud of you for this!
Getting a comment like this from a Zelda Timeline expert just made my day. Thank you so much 🥹
wth is a “zelda timeline expert”?
Thanks bro. I have been researching it on the side while working on other content so I'm slowly getting more ready
@TheBlackMastadonte No problem, bro. I found you on your Devil May Cry gaming history, and I've been hooked since. Keep up the great work. 👍 💯 👑
Kingdom Hearts is easy to follow though.
What a fantastic way to cap off 2023, let's go!!!
Absolutely the best lore dump video on THE TIMELINE I have ever watched. You have a new fan brother!!!
Appreciate you bro
Thanks so much bro 🥹
this is such a good concise, interesting way to explain the timeline!!! you killed this. a great watch for long term fans and new people interested in zelda 💕 also “monkey d tetra” KILLED ME
Thank you!!
Great job! This was beautifully done, and welcome to the series! My first game was Majora's Mask, and my favorite is still Wind Waker, even after BOTW and TOTK.😊
Btw, Ganon's latest design is now called "Suaveamente"
The Legend of Zelda is the first game I ever beat, and I've been a huge Zelda mark ever since. This video not only cleared up some confusion I had regarding the timelines, but earned you a subscriber. Strong work.
Ganondorf with the power of *suavemente* he is unstoppable.
You right
I still don't get how everyone doesn't understand: breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom are in an alternate universe. Now, everything from past games CAN happen in THIS universe, but in a VERY different way. Like say all the final bosses that were ganon in past games, aren't ganon, but are influenced by his hate that comes out from beneath hyrule castle. It makes the most sense
FUCKING THANK YOU!!!!!! SOMEONE GETS IT!!!!!
Btw for those wondering, no we will not be getting a dlc for totk cause they announced months ago that they're moving on to a new zelda project, meaning not only the new movie, but also a brand new zelda game
Thanks for the info
I remember asking for this five years ago, in the middle of your last stream of playing Kingdom Hearts: Chains Of Memories and even back then, you said how frightened you were from the amount of research, script writting, recording and editing involved. Damn, time flies by!
Pushing through such a huge mission, impresses the hell out of someone like me, who gets tempted procrastinate in the face large tasks.
To express my mad respect, here a quote of a certified menace:
"Stand proud, bro. You're strong!" 🤝
As someone who's been a Zelda fan since OoT, you absolutely nailed this bro! I would wholeheartedly recommend this video to anyone who wants an easy intro into Zelda & its lore. You got a sub from me dawg.
I can't get enough of your lore video, i always gotta get a bowl of chili when I watch.
Glad you like them this much!!
Thanks fam. And thanks for watching
I'm wayyyy too hyped for the mega man video! This one was great to watch so I know the mega man video is gonna be sick
So am I, man. Thanks for watching
I was locked just from having the nostalgia moment with the intro music
Keep walking in your path, bro. This truly is your calling. Numerous blessings
New subsrciber here, really enjoyed this break down of the timeline and stuff, great vid bro
Thanks fam!
54:15 so your half correct this version of link, *IS* just some random kid, the only reason he left was to save his sister
However along the way, he proved himself WORTHY of the title of the hero.
Goootcha. Yeah that makes sense
Loved this series as a kid and still do. Thank you.
I wish skyward sword came out on a controller
Great video man ,this video actually made me more interested in the series
30:25
Kaepora Gaebora had already appeared to Link as a child.
Rauru was in the Sacred Realm when Link woke up there as an adult.
Now here is something that Fabian of Gamerthumb TV should take a look at.
The Child Timeline was as straightforward as it currently is leading to MM>TP>FSA while the Adult Timeline led to WW and PH (which was newly released at the time) before leading into the original games (LttP>LoZ>AoL) as well as the sequels to LttP (LA>OoA/S)
And then they released Hyrule Historia in 2011 and dropped the bombshell that there were THREE timelines in play: Child, Adult, and Downfall (Link dies fighting Ganon in OoT).
They even acknowledged this nonsense with the following line:
"Attentive readers may note that the timeline shown here differs slightly from the one found in Hyrule Historia.
The timeline can be interpreted in a number of ways, and may change depending on new discoveries that have come to light and on the player's imagination."
I almost feel like that's Nintendo lowkey saying "Yeah, we don't care, so stop putting so much energy into this! lol!"
It certainly doesn't help that Aonuma has said multiple times that BotW takes place "at the end of the timeline after OoT" without clarifying WHICH timeline is in play, not to mention the fact that it almost seems like some story elements from TotK were purposely written just to namedrop important lore events while drastically changing them in ways that don't fit in with ANY timeline.
Honestly, I feel like Nintendo is messing with us more than anything else at this point.
Great video dude he did a really good job and it made a lot of sense. I like your style as well.
Thank you for making this video! As a Zelda fan I appreciate you spreading the lore around! You rock 🥹🤙
Thanks for all this info man. Really validated this theory
Been watching your videos since the first HGH (Jin) and man. The growth, the quality and the level of detail is crazy. Good stuff bro.
9:27 if i was link i be like “ i’m taking that disrespect”
30:18
KAKARIKO VILLAGE!!
Not KOKIRI!
You not only said the wrong village, you showed the wrong village too.
I’m straight up having a good time
Glad you're enjoying the vid bro
I'm only 10 minutes into this, and I love it already. I love your editing, pacing, and style. Very entertaining!
I can't get over the whole thing with the Force. It's insanely funny!
"Somehow Ganondorf returned.."
Feels appropriate!
Great video and great synopsis! No one can tell the a story like Donte!
Thanks bro
Proud to say i watched the whole thing!
He should ask us to comment a word to show that we watched to the end
Really enjoyed this timeline video , your enthusiasm is brilliant and you did am awesome job of explaining it . The legend of zelda has been one of my favourite game series since I was a kid in the 80's .
Thanks so much fam. Glad you enjoyed it
Every now and then I have to search for new timeline videos that are made, and this is why. Thank you sooo much for a nice long video
Man i missed conshes he brought extra humor to your videos
Wow. This man was not lying when he said if he had to, he would post on the 31st. That’s some real devotion right there. Mad respect for you Donte.
It’s like she’s watching over her son 😭
Now, as far as the Adult Timeline, yeah, there’s another theory that Wind Waker Link is actually the key to breaking Demise’s curse since he’s not actually a descendant of The Hero. He’s just a kid.
Let's take a moment to appreciate the longer honest gaming history episodes 🙏 I understand they take a long time to do and we get them in fewer months increments but we truly enjoy them
Sooner or later, bro gonna do an honest gaming history on either Sonic or Mario.
This video is honestly starting to get me interested in the Zelda series, thanks for this awesome video, dude!
Yeah that's basically what this game franchise actually is. The Legends of Zelda is literally Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Very well done man i’ve been alive for the whole series and you did an awesome job explaining it in a fun way!
I think my favorite part of totk has to be how they reference the previous heros with their outfits and wepons.
Indeed but those heroes are not the ones that we know from the previous games
@zedorian6547 how's that exactly? I mean I think I get the time-line not matching up yet the heros and the villian costumes are the same as the previous games.
GREAT video for new year's eve great vid donte
Thanks fam
Dude!! This was an amazing video!!! T’was a well spent hour twenty-five!
Well done on this! I appreciate how you narrated the whole story. I was very immersed in the story!
Zelda kicks ass. First game I ever played back in the early 90s (Original on NES). I'm playing through all the games again. I love this series.
I read in some TH-cam comment that apparently in Japanese 10,000 years is used to describe any long amount of time, so the botw backstory doesn't necessarily actually take place 10,000 years ago
Oh interesting
I don’t fw with Zelda but you’ve made a video about it so now I do 😂
You should consider an honest gaming history of the Darksiders series
Great lore
With this out the way let me get some food to eat with this and be blessed by this for the next hour 🤞🏼
This is a REALLY well done vid, and extra props on the length and effort you went through
Awesome video! This is one of the best timeline videos I've seen. So many are pretty boring, but yours was really well done!
This video deserves more views! All the other ones are completely generic. This is original and a breath of fresh air
Let's gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
First video I've watched of yours, and watched all the way to the end, was amazing to hear all that lore in a proper as linier as possible way. It was very nicely done in terms of story telling for that amount of infomation :D
this is an insanely good and well made video man. keep up the awesome work 🫶🏼
Thank you!!
This is definitely the best timeline for zelda
Thanks so much fam
First and I love your content especially neon revenge and beginning after the end
Thanks fam
You are correct in that the wind waker link is not an actual descendent of the chosen hero. He instead basically "prayed" so hard for lack of a better word and forced the goddesses to make him the chosen hero of that time
