    Thanks for the video not a lot of people realize these guns where used a lot and some of them are not bad little guns!

      They are cool little guns.

    The reason I ask is that, I had a tiny spring came out. when I took the hammer out. just double acton works only.

    There was a bill a few years back to change that 1898 rule to a floating date 100 years prior to the present. Too bad it didn't go anywhere. :(

      That makes sense. That is why it didn't go anywhere.

    can you do a complete teardown and reassembling? or How do you put in a spring back in to make single action work again?

    • @tenza7545
      @tenza7545 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re single action isn’t working you probably put the hammer in wrong they can be pretty finicky to get in place right

    • @AntiqueDead
      @AntiqueDead  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the truth. I didn't take this one apart but have with many others.
      The first 25 times you do it will be frustrating to get back together.

    no, you dont need an FFL to transfer that. you can sell it in any of the free states, as an individual sale.

    I just obtained the same gun, but in hammerless. I can't find much info about this version.

      Search in Google for "H&R topbreak Bill Goforth".
      He posted hundreds of detailed post about these over the years. He is also THE expert on these guns.

      @@dannymaddox666 I know that they are two different cartridges,but 32 ACP is also low pressure cartridge. The gun looks well built so i was thinking that if you can't find 32 S&W you can shoot 32 ACP instead. But you are right,maybe It is a bad idea.

      @@dannymaddox666 not to sound like a know it all, but the .32 ACP is a "semi rimmed" cartridge, and can be fired in SOME .32 revolvers.

    • @TheJHMAN1
      @TheJHMAN1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I used 32acp brass and hand loaded .32 S&W loads, I would not use Factory .32ACP loads. It is semi rimmed and will work for hand load. Trail Boss is great for low pressure loads in these old guns. I have a couple plus 2 S&W I frame revolvers.

      Yes, but it is very hard on the gun. Mine blows open every time I fire .32 ACP.
      So don't do it!

    Is do you have a video of you taking this one apart and rebuilding it

    • @AntiqueDead
      @AntiqueDead  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do not, although I have taken them apart before. It's not an easy task to get them back together. The trick is getting the hand and lifter to set properly while trying to place the sear spring.

      @@AntiqueDead I was able to piece videos and stuff apart I think I'm missing the piece that goes for the cylinder to lock it in place

    • @AntiqueDead
      @AntiqueDead  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elmore119 That's called the cylinder stop. A lot of times the springs are broken and it is simply pushed into the frame, if you remove the trigger guard you should be able to see it.

    • @elmore119
      @elmore119 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AntiqueDead So the piece that is missing was never found in the gun when I took it apart it's the piece that stops the cylinder and comes out of that slot when you break the barrel open you know where I can find a new one or used

    Isn't that rated for blackpowder only? Good luck finding ammo.

      Smokeless works great. The factories have always loaded it light in deference to all the old top break guns still floating around.

      @MrTruckerf 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't know....this one is in great condition. These old timers usually fetch $100 to $200 if nearly mint like this one. I bought a mint condition one last year off GunBroker for $132 plus 8% tax and $35 shipping, so around $175 in my hands.

      I do, with Black Powder.

  • @michaelmorgan180
    @michaelmorgan180 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    No you can’t shoot 32acp through it , and if he keeps dry firing it he’s going to break it

    • @johnburnett5377
      @johnburnett5377 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No on both counts.

    • @guarddog318
      @guarddog318 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@johnburnett5377 - actually "yes" on both counts.
      .32acp won't headspace properly, and those guns have a fairly fragile internal mechanism that uses straight music wire springs.
      They're easy enough to replace, if you can find the parts, but they are still a "consumable" item.
      So the bottom line is stick to .32 S&W ammo, and don't dry fire it any more than necessary.
      And yes, I do own one of those... inherited it from my grandfather, along with a H&R 732.
