Air NZ pilots are some of the best in the world make no error. Wow this smooth approach sure ain't like that flying in here to Invercargill...or Wellington...best airports to test pilot's skills...Air NZ has an excellent reputation in international aviation too. So big bouquet to Air NZ thank you for excellent high standard of aviation service domestically and internationally. Would always choose to fly Air NZ internationally. Woops my wife and I flew Jetstar from Queenstown to Coolangata in 2015 to watch Australian V8 Supercars at the Gold Coast 600. Oh yes that's right we hit an air pocket flying out of Queenstown and my stomach almost exited out my mouth and almost had to change my pants. I'm pretty relaxed when it comes to flying however on that occasion I was scared. Led to me making the decision I would NEVER fly in or out Queenstown airport in the dark...and even today I'm not sure if planes fly in & out in the dark. The area is full of mountains and that equals a lot of turbulence - I would never ever fly in ANY aircraft in or out of Queenstown in the dark...got an accident written all over it.
I flew Air Mew Zealand from Cairns many years ago on circle Pacific ticket,it was a fantastic trip, great airline, and no interruptions for flights,I went to NZ,Tonga,Cook Islands,Tahiti then to USA,I did I side trip to Hawaii, really enjoyable holiday, the Pacific islands are beautifull and because it was start of summer it was more breathtaking,Air New Zealand are a good airline with a good track record, fly this airline you wont be disappointed, cheers.
Haha cheers mate the captain is a close friend of mine and I often fly with him whenever I fly, these days though with covid no jump seat flying happening
@@terryhodges8903 True mate, I would miss that experience too if it was me! All the best , I have subbed to your channel and are checking out more of your excellent vids and hope for more when circumstances allow!
From the general aviation chit chat that I used to hear from flight crews whilst I was a ground crew member, correct me but I always belived Air Nelson/Air NZ what ever you want to call it was a bit of a mongrel to work for & it would appear things havent changed all that much!! No longer in aviation as it gives me the shits & there are better jobs out there if you take your head out of the clouds so you can see where you are really going!! Sorry I spent so many wasted years in that industry!!
I love pilots fancy being able to control such a big monster I'd a pilot us reading this please take me for a flight and let me sir in the cockpit with you ......cheers from Melbourne ...
I reckon a C-17 could....they can stop on a dime. The Tauranga runway is 1800m...about the same as Albion Park airport in NSW....Qantas actually landed a 747 there.

Beauuuuuuuuuuutiful!!! Love Air NZ and Tauranga / the Mount and Papamoa! So much Microlight flying there too, great place.

Learnt to fly with the Tauranga Aero Club back in about 68 looked a lot different then, did my fist solo in a Bolkow B 208 trainer off runway 21/03.
Very nice approach and landing. Very stabilized. Looks like a Dash 8 300. Nice airplane.
I work at akl airport as a ground handler in the ramp and hands down it’s the best job ever being up close with the big birds
Loved seeing my home town Tauranga the Mount, Papamoa and Te Puke.
Man I'm loving these Terry keep it up
Lovely footage 👍. Super landing 👍
Great little airport. Have loved flying in there.
cool to see what happens inside. So may switches to control!
Only in New Zealand and Switzerland is the grass greener than anywhere I have been.
Your just lucky I’m so jealous 😊
I love flying regionally in New Zealand ! Especially AKL to NPE.
Quite expensive though, quite a lot more expensive than mainline flights between AKL, WLG, CHC, DUD, ZQN
@@adeejinnz yeah the turboprops consume much fuel than than the jet aircraft
This is an old-school taxiing throttling. Cheers!
I don't know who this 'Terry Hodges' guy is, but he has some of the best views of the flight! well done mate!

Nice video mate and great landing
Do you guys really know what all those buttons do. Amazing.
I see 5 sectors on their crew sheet...air nelson still smashing their crew with long days. I left when that started 5 years ago.

Been there, done that, but only because weather diverted the flight from Rotorua.
Thats interesting. Is the dash 8 captain taxi only?
Yes only the Captain has the Tiller
hello nice video!

What type aircraft?

Oh wow, never would have guessed!! Radar alt dos not sound of on final?..
Thank you again, hope to see some more..
Miss home!🇳🇿👍
The Pilot's are wearing a Bose A20 Aviation Headset in a Bombardier Q300 Air NZ Plane.
Imagine if a DJ had that many knobs, buttons and what not
wow, they actually let you film this?
I knew the crew so yes
@@terryhodges8903 thats pretty awesome, I had expected that air NZ would have some sort of policy against this sort of thing.
Skills 😍
Try driving there, This is way better and quicker and then walk to the Mount im picking,
great video!
Not much communication in the cockpit. Is that SOP?
There was plenty, you probably cant tell from the video
Much better approach from the other side ..........
Final Air NZ Ops to Tauranga or something?
Lol defiantly not. "Final approach" as in the aircraft is on final.
What Aviator NZ said
Aviator NZ Oh haha, duh 🙄😂😂😂
The cockpit looks like an Airbus without fly by wire and with a yoke
The air NZ planes that fly in and out of tauranga are the Q300 and ATR72
@@NewZealandChicken Yes’, I know.
Some segments in the video are stamped not adjacent to each other
What?
Nice!!!!!
Dash 8-300
The dash 8...a classy, sexy and somewhat classic gal.
How do they remember every switch they need to click?
its called training and checklists lol
@@terryhodges8903 you’d have to have a good memory to know when to click all those buttons and at exactly what time.
@@JoeyDavies777 Thats what a checklist is for
How do I land this plane, Wait, I'll check my NOTE BOOK !!!
Can larger airplanes land there?
No only turbo prop
@@meconlimited3896 have seen larger military jets land at Tga occassionally.

Unbelievable that author does not even mention aircraft type.
Not that hard to work out but it's a DHC-300
