    Your comparison of the differences in the series is very helpful. Miele’s site doesn’t fully show why someone would want to upgrade. Based on your videos, I went from the 5900 to the 7300 series.

      I still like the Miele. The door opening feature helps with the drying. Plastic containers can still have moisture. My wife loves the auto dispenser and it is nice when I'm tired. It is quiet and cleans well. The double containment with a leak sensor is nice to know it is there. @@FreshlySnipes

    At $1499, the Miele G71 seems like the best value of their entire line (including the lower end and higher end Pro models). The additional features in the G7000 series don't seem to add much value. AutoDos is has expensive cartridges that are at x2 as expensive as normal. Wifi and AutoStart are useless in a dishwasher. Extra quiet mode might be used once a year and takes longer to run the cycle. A grate cycle might get used once or twice a year. The enhanced racks might be slightly better and useful for many wine glasses, but not a necessity as the G71 rack with #D cutlery is already very good.

  • @TheGamerUnknown

    Looks like a few things have changed in the last 3 years:
    For example:
    Sensor wash has become standard on the G71
    ExtraQuiet is now on the G73 and up, not G75.
    ExtraComfort baskets have become standard on all, but G75 and higher get MaxiComfort instead.
    Aside from that, the noise levels have changed:
    G71 - 43 dbA
    G73 - 42 dbA (40 with extraquiet)
    G75 - 40 dbA (37 with extraquiet)
    G79 - 40 dbA (37 with extraquiet)
    Since the G73 is the one that includes extra quiet mode it seems like it's the better deal - though the G71 would be perfectly fine - the differences are pretty marginal and tacky.
    Crazy to think an interior light is locked behind another ~$350.
    Don't let anyone fool you with the 'Machine Clean' mode. Just run a normal wash with dishwasher cleaner set in a basket. Done. No special mode needed. Also please don't fall for AutoDos unless you have more money than sense.

    I have a 1960 home and it when someone updated it in 2004, they never installed a dishwasher. I purchased a Maytag Portable Dishwasher after I closed. That thing is still running to date in 2022. I am just assuming it will eventually stop working.
    I have replaced the lock on the door, and all the baskets. I had a recall on the coil when it was a couple of years old. My Sister had to replace a Miele after 5 years. I am not convinced to buy a Miele even if a portable one was available. My parents had a Bosch, and it worked well.

    Hi John, thanks for this review, I have a question about the G73 model that we purchased, the one you mentioned you used in your own home. After installing in a standard 24” opening, it has a larger gap on one side (left). Did you install a trim piece or something to make it look more flush?
    And is the control panel supposed to have a small lip wider that the rest of the piece? Thanks for any advice/insight.

    • @DesignerAppliances
      @DesignerAppliances  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Mark! Good questions - I did not install a filler piece on either side of my dishwasher. I think it looks fine without, however if you do want to fill that gap Miele sells trim strips model Miele GPL771SS. And yes the control panel is ever so slightly wider than the door panel. Hope that helps!

    • @ominousnahkriin
      @ominousnahkriin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The G79 isnt available in freestanding variants (atleast it isnt here in Australia), only in integrated models. As such the only option is to get a custom panel.

    • @DesignerAppliances
      @DesignerAppliances  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ominousnahkriin Thanks Matthew for chiming in but I just want to clarify your answer since the term freestanding isn't something we use for dishwashers in the US. Miele dishwashers come either prefinished with a stainless steel panel OR panel ready so you can attached a custom cabinet panel. While the G71, G73, G75 all have both prefinished and panel ready variants, the G79 is only available as panel ready. However, Miele does sell stainless steel panels and handles that you can use with their panel ready dishwashers, so if you really wanted a G79 with a stainless steel panel, you could purchase the dishwasher plus a stainless steel panel and handle. In fact in our video when we talk about the G79 dishwasher and knock to open, the dishwasher in our video is a G79 with a stainless steel panel. Hope that helps!

    thank you for your videos...so very helpful. i have a few questions if you don't mind...
    i haven't heard mentioned any that have the choppers for grinding food. i kinda thought i'd hear that re the miele. are there any DW w/that feature that you recommend?
    further, we have an older dishwasher and cleaning the food filter is pretty rough.... taking apart several pieces just to clean it. are there food filters in these newer machines...and if so, are they easier to pull apart and clean them?
    also i haven't really seen where the machine heats the water...i've noticed a few had the sanitizer option...but seems not many have it...or i'm missing something?
    and a very odd question.... back a few years wasn't there some type of fan at the top of a dishwasher that would blow all the collected water on top of the dishes so that would help them dry? i haven't seen that as of late. just curious.
    thank you so very much.

    • @latui7350
      @latui7350 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think all high end dishwashers have removed garbage disposals in favor of lower decibels (quieter operation). I've had Bosch Dishwashers for over 20 years and have never had problems with the filters.
      Typically you clean them once a month, but I just clean the filters weekly at the same time I clean the kitchen. In Bosch and Miele the filters are super easy to access, disassemble, clean, and reassemble. Takes me 1-2 mins.
      Miele and Bosch machines have what is called a flow through water heater. Instead of a heating element (which is extremely inefficient) the water is heated directly as it flows through the pump. This also enables you to put thin plastic in the bottom rack.
      I believe Kitchen Aide is the only brand that uses fan aided drying. Bosch recently introduced Zeolite drying (a volcanic mineral that stores water and energy then releases it as heat). So far these machines have amazing reviews regarding drying capabilities.

      Idk, I was told by literally everyone on a fb forum to get a bosch after our old whirlpool of 30 years finally bit the dust. Little did we know that NONE of the new dishwashers dry, even those with heating elements leave dishes sopping wet. I was shocked the first time I used our bosch because people told me it didn’t matter which model I bought, that they all dry with this “awesome” condensation dry.” Lol, that just means it leaves water all over everything including all inside the washer. It ruins my wooden spoons and takes the color off my pretty mugs, the set up of the tines is awful and it fits half of what my whirlpool can. It doesn’t have a food grinder so you have to manually clean out a yucky filter all the time. And they INSIST you use rinse aid which we don’t want to use that crap in my house. Lacing my dishes with a chemical is not something we are interested in and I never needed that junk in my old dishwasher. They try to claim these new dishwashers are saving the planet by the way they dry when they are doing the exact opposite. Now, we are polluting the water supply with rinse aid as well as polluting our bodies with it, our dishes our being ruined so must be replaced sooner, and yucky garbage and swampy water sitting at the bottom of the dishwasher at all times. That’s why all these new dishwashers (especially bosch and the other high end stink!) I have to literally time the bosch so that I can go down and open it up and flip over everything with water all over it and then leave the door open and trays pulled out all nite to use it as a thousand dollar dish drainer. Now, I’m literally on fb marketplace trying to find my old model and get rid of this $1500 pile of junk. If I can’t find my old one, I’m just going to buy a $300 machine since it will work exactly the same as the bosch.

    We built our dream home and thought that Miele was the best. How wrong was I. Our fully integrated dishwasher stopped working and Miele wanted almost 1k to fix it. Even though the machine is out of warranty, I expect that the machine should last a lot longer than it has. The machine is still like new and hardly used.
    We purchased the brand because of the reputation and quality for lasting 20 years plus tested which is obviously false advertising and a bunch of baloney. You can’t get any deals on new machines as Miele has monopolised the retailers and you can only get them to fix the machines and absorbent prices. Very unhappy with their product and attitude.

      Look into getting a home warranty program. Can cover several appliances , even ones out of warranty

    • @redpillyoass5894
      @redpillyoass5894 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@donnawong1226 home warranty programs are a scam, don’t do it and please don’t recommend them to anyone! No one has them for a reason. If they really worked like they claim, everyone who owns a home would have one. The only people who do are those who got it free automatically when they buy a home. So idk if you’re a realtor or a salesman for these scam programs but please don’t fool people into them. When we bought our home, it came with one of those garbage home warranties. The AC didn’t work immediately so we called the home warranty company and it was a nightmare finally getting an AC technician to come. What they don’t tell you is that you are charged a random service charge when they come. The guy literally just sprayed Simple Green on our AC coils and charged us a large amount of money before leaving. He told me it would be fixed now. Nope, spraying Simple Green didn’t fix a broken AC unit-who’d a thunk?So we called again and jumped thru the same hoops to have the company come back out and literally do nothing once again. I asked him not to leave until the AC was fixed. He claimed it was and there’d be no more trouble. I paid a large fee again only to have the AC still broken. It stayed broken for the rest of the warranty. And 10 years later, our home was so unbearable in the summer so my husband ended up finding the issue very easily and fixed it to where our AC cools our house like a monster! It’s amazing the difference and it’s actually fixed the proper way. The entire unit ended up being a block of ice when my husband took the cover off (something the tech could’ve easily found if he had taken the cover off as well). It took hours melting the block of ice and then my husband installed an inexpensive part that was missing. So we threw away all that money to the “skilled AC tech” and literally useless home warranty. Our AC unit obviously took a hell of a beating during all those years of not working correctly so we will end up having to replace it sooner than normal due to the home warranty. All those warranties do is con people into thinking they’re getting a great deal and that their home and appliances will be protected and fixed for free when nothing could be further from the truth. Don’t do it unless you want to throw money in the toilet.

    • @redpillyoass5894

    I hate my new G71 machine! The cutlery tray is excessively fiddly and has little space for larger item like long handled spoons, wooden spoons etc. Even after adjusting the baskets, things still get caught on the one above. The baskets barely take normal size dinner plates without them touching the spinning arm. The machine hold considerably less items than my previous machines - especially when loaded with pots and pans. I suggest this is designed by a man without consulting with women to find out what would really be useful in this machine. Over-priced and over-hyped!!! Sorry!

      Our Miele dishwasher has been in service for 15 years with no failures or service calls. It’s extraordinarily quiet as well. The dishes come out spotless using a half Miele tab, and one teaspoon of Dawn in the prewash. I keep the onboard water softener full of salt and the rinse aid full.

      The complaints above seem to be about recent models. Is it possible that they don't make them as well as they did 15 years ago?

    Are there alternate lower baskets for the G7000 series dishwashers with different layouts?
