      It's a must visit place; the amount of work that's gone into the temple is truly incredible. There's another one here called the Blue Temple and we've got to get around to vlogging that one :)

    last time i went it was free.... but that was many years ago before they built all that other stuff surrounding the temple. worth the trip but once is enough for me.... enjoy

      They don't charge much, just 50 baht, and it's certainly worth a visit. There are many new buildings under construction so I'll definitely be making another trip with the family in the future.

    Awesome footage Graham - they stopped me from filming when inside the main temple, so you were lucky!

    • @gbriar
      @gbriar  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wasn't aware that you couldn't film inside the temple. I got a couple of minutes of footage before I was asked to stop ... didn't mean to break any rules :) Certainly really nice artwork inside and I'm sure there's not many vlogs with this footage.

    This was so funny! Everything you said and felt was exactly the same as me when I went and you are absolutely right no video or images actually really prepares you for just how stunning this place is. The other good news is just like Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona it just gets better and better the more is complete!

    It's definitely on our "bucket list" when we come up that way. You did a remarkable job capturing it. Yes, agree, where do you start capturing photos/videos. Great work!

      The White Temple Jack is really incredible and difficult to know where to start filming. Even worse is editing as you know you have to cut stuff out but what? Lovely place and definitely worth a visit.

    I live about 25 km south of the White Temple. It's a very interesting thing to see. Another temple that should be seen is Wat Sai Khao, about 35 km south of Chiang Rai. It looks like something out of Flash Gordon.

      There's loads of really nice temples in Chiang Rai; even the one's here in Chiang Saen are really nice and the ruins in the town are very interesting. I'll have to check out your suggestion. Cheers Ed, have a great day mate.

    Hi Graham this is probably the best video I have ever seen on the white temple,Truly magnificent mate.I made a comment on Darrenb3 vlog ,How to eat for 5 Dollars US a day in Thailand part 2, and mentioned your name,have a look you might find it interesting,About this Yobbo(Dickhead)Johnny there's something Happening or cooking or what ever the fool is up to, about spending $120 aud for a piece of meat,the bill came to $442aud to feed himself, girlfriend and a 4 year old child.This is totally unbelievable and is completely out of touch how life really is in Thailand for most people.As always all the best to you and Pie and of course the little fella

      Hi Greg. Cheers, I did managed to get some footage inside the temple as I wasn't aware it wasn't allow. It sure it is stunning in there and I'm sure it'll prompt many to visit the White Temple if in Chiang Rai.
      Phuket has become massively expensive and if you want to eat import produce such as Angus Beef then you'll pay dearly for it. There are lots of wealthy people in Phuket but it never really bothered me what they got up to ... I just didn't move in those circles.
      I did take a look at Darrenb3 and he's got some great videos :) One I'll have to follow :)
      Cheers

    Hi Graham. Looks an amazing place to visit and another great reason to visit Chiang Rai. Its been on our list to see for quite some time. Have you ever visited the elephant temple (Wat ban Rai) near Nakhon Ratchasima? It's one to see if you are ever in the area it blew me away.

    • @gbriar
      @gbriar  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Simon, if you're ever in Chiang Rai, this is a must. Also see Andy's suggestion above for the Black House (Baan Dam) as this is also on our list to video.
      I've only ever driven through Nakhon Ratchasima as it's quite a big province. If I get the chance I'll put Wat Ban Rai on the list for sure ... I'll check up on it on Google but it's a long way from where we are.

      The White Temple charges foreigners 50 baht whereas Thais get in for free ... I know this is a bone of contention with a lot of foreigners but 50 baht isn't too bad and helps with the upkeep so I'm good with it. It's the same with national parks, 20 baht for a Thai and 200 baht for a foreigner.
