Not exactly correct. I learned that they got used to certain noises, but the rangers told me effective ways (different noises to use) that send them running.
Another great video guys! A trip to Tahoe isn't complete without a bear encounter. Lots of the houses in that area even have electrified trip wires around the doors and windows to keep them out, its wild. Great editing Amy!
After all these comments about the bears there, we're starting to feel fortunate (?) about having a bear encounter. 😂 Especially if a trip to Tahoe isn't complete without one! And I have to give credit to Glenn for the editing. He's been helping out - most of the Monday videos have been his doing lately. 😊
We were in that same campground about 2 weeks before your stay. 2 outta 3 nights the bears literally terrorized people in tents. Took the dinner right off their tables, etc. Parks staff told us there were 15 particular, troublesome bears that were a BIG problem, going from the Tahoma city to the campground every night. Not scared of people screaming, the banging of pots and pans together, or cars honking their horns...What a loud ruckus! The first sign it was "bear-thirty" each night was peoples dogs started barking. Then all hell broke loose for about an hour. Simply crazy! We were in a travel trailer thank goodness.
Yikes! Can't help but imagine that the little encounter Glenn experienced were from those same group you also experienced. They're very persistent it seems! 😨
That was some campground Glenn. The bear raid was funny too. I would camp there in nothing less than a motorhome with an inside bathroom. To have to get out in the middle of the night would be scary that I run into a bear. Anyway, thanks for the beautiful Tahoe campground. I'll stick with Bearizona for the bear experience. Very enjoyable.
Oh, Bearizona is so much fun! 😄🐻 I see the advantage to having a bathroom in an RV. Never know who you'll run across on a late night run to the bathroom facilities. 😅
Hate to admit it but the bears would completely freak me out! They're just too big and powerful. And hungry, evidently. Glenn, you're alot braver than me! 😯🌵💫
So we're learning! On one hand, they're kind of adorable, but on the other hand... seems like they have a "don't care" kind of attitude that one has to watch out for. 😅
I recently saw a YT video with some advice regarding bearspray. Bearspray has an expiration date so if you have never used a bearspray before you can use an expired one (if you have one) to «practice» with in an open area (not on animals or people of course! 😅) so if it actually happens for real, you know exactly how to use and activate the spray because you have done it before ☺️
Interesting! Thanks for the tip! I imagine a lot of bearspray canisters don't get used so it's not a bad idea to know what one is doing for that rare occurrence that one does need to use it. 👍
When I was young, the bears would always raid the dumpsters in Yosemite! I have vivid memories of those nights 😅 it was always exciting! Great campground tour! I have always been on the lookout for bears in Tahoe, but I have never seen one there. The bears in Tahoe are gangsters. They will stroll right into houses 😅 You probably freaked that poor lady out! 😂
Its tough being a tent camper in a sea of RV’s - I think the RVers are not as careful with their food. It’s happened to us before but we just heard dogs barking and the next morning there was talk of bears through the campsite. I wasnt about to get out of my tent. But if I knew they were far away I might’ve chosen to sleep in the car! 😳😬
Glenn uses a DanForce headlamp he bought on Amazon and I know he's pleased with it. I added it to our Amazon store/list of gear we use. Not sure why I forgot to include it. 😅 www.amazon.com/shop/thecactusatlas
That dumpster story was wild! The darnedest things can happen! ☺️
😂 Yup! Very lucky that the dumpster was mostly empty and the biggest hurdle was just getting in and out.
Super helpful. I wasn't sure if I needed to get some bear spray... but it has been ordered. Lol. Thanks!!! I'll be there next week.
Better to have it and not need it. At least that was our thought before heading there. 👍
If that bear comes back and picks your tent, you may need an hour's worth of tokens! 🤣
🤣🤣 Indeed!
Great video, I had the same problem at Meeks Bay campground. The whole campground was infested with bears,
Oh no! That's not good! 😬
Wow the bears would be scary. However the campground is awesome. I think I would sleep in the car instead of the tent.
Why is the bear not listening to the guy 😂😂 you’ve invaded their territory 😂😂
Not exactly correct. I learned that they got used to certain noises, but the rangers told me effective ways (different noises to use) that send them running.
Awesome adventure.. interesting stories about the bear and your car key!! Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it! The stories make for a fun memory of the time spent there. 😂
HEY GLENN!! Watch out for the bears wondering around in the middle of the night that are IN HEAT... 😳😳😳🤣🤣
😂😂 Oh dear. Noted. 🤣

Awesome adventure 😎 😀
Thank you 😁
WOW!! BEAR ALERT!! Glen stay safe out there, please. Beautiful place. I'll stay with Slim. I have no bear spray or repellent. Hi Amy.
Thankfully there were other people aware of the bear and on the job of shooing it off. Now if Glenn was all alone out there? 😨
The only way i could sleep would be in the car.. Another great video from the Cactus Atlas...
Thanks so very much! 😊

Thankfully they weren't being aggressive but if they were... might have been a different story. 😅
With a name of "Sugar Pine" of course there's 🐻🐻 🐻 Lol! The Lake Tahoe area bears are notorious.
So we're learning! On one hand, they're kind of adorable, but on the other hand... seems like they have a "don't care" kind of attitude that one has to watch out for. 😅

😮 Into houses?? Oh, man! Gangsters indeed! I can't even imagine what that lady must have been thinking. 🤣
The racoons will steal you stuff plus the sasquish is the hide and seek champion of the world. Anything is possible
😂 Someone needs to leave a trophy for that guy one of these days.
Where would you recommend not so much a bear spot?
Not the bears.

YIKES! Sounds like a case that it was probably better not to know at the time the bears were wandering. 😮
What brand head lamp do u use ?
