Rock and Roll has not died, it simply got a passport and a new outfit! These ladies have reignited my passion for music not felt since the 80s! And as you can see, their live performances are unmatched. I was not a concert goer until I heard their music, then I went to 6 of their shows in 2022 and 2023, travelling all over the U.S. Their concerts make you exhausted and energized at the same time!
I'm right there with you my friend. I saw them in 2022 in NYC and American Dream Mall in NJ and Nashville in 2023. I haven't enjoyed a show more since I saw Blood, Sweat & Tears in NYC in 1967 and The Doors at the Whiskey Au Go Go in LA in 1968. When it comes to rock and any of its sub-genres, they are at the top of the heap.
There is no doubt. No denying it. BAND-MAID is absolutely one of the top rock bands on planet earth 🌎!! 🔥 If more people around the world knew about them, if they simply watched your reaction videos to them, they’d be playing stadiums everywhere. 🤷🏻♂️ They do everything at the highest levels; Yes, their playing and performance is outstanding.😃🙌🏼 But equally impressive is their skills in composition, songwriting, arrangement, instrumentation, orchestration, recording and production. They are world-class in every respect. 🎼🎤🎸🎸🎸🥁 If there was an Olympics for rock music, the Maids would probably take the gold medal because they do it all so well. 🥇 They just released a new live video today for a new song to be released on their upcoming album. - “Magie (Magic)” - official Live video Or, if you haven’t seen it yet, their video of the song: - “Hate?” - official LIVE video, is an absolutely must see!! Pure 🔥🔥🔥 Enjoy the journey with the Maids as your guides!! Take care and rock on, Gents! 😀👋🏼🎼
and just for clarification, I don't think they were calling us a cult but more like when people refer to a movie as a "cult classic" that has an eclectic group of people who love it. I don't think they meant it in a negative way.
It's not hard to figure out why this is my favorite band. The sheer joy these ladies show on stage is infectious! Even in the videos! I listen to them every friggin day and wake up the next morning with whatever song was my last listen playing in my head. They play such a diverse form of rock. There has NEVER been a band that fills me with so much joy when I listen to them. Never get bored, you want jazz rock, progressive, heartfelt ballad or a head banger, BAND-MAID does it all. Even when most bands would just record a "filler' song, these ladies put out something amazing. My main playlist is 5 hours and 46 minutes of pure rock, no skips in it, all BAND-MAID! Don't believe me? Check out the song "matchless GUM". That's the way they spell it. It's the 3rd song on the YOLO single, didn't get a video, didn't make the follow up album Just Bring It and is an absolute BANGER! Most bands would have just thrown something together to fill out the single. Not BAND-MAID!
With over 130 songs it is a must that you dive into *BAND-MAID* this band is so versatile that I think you will enjoy everything *BAND-MAID* has to offer.
You are so right! They wrote some incredible music, turned in inside out, subtracted and added til they got that shit RIGHT then they rehearsal it until it was second nature (after learning their instruments for 10,000 hours) and then they do a performance like this. And guys they are goofing on each other. Sometimes the bass player MISA is trying to get Akane the drummer to laugh. In the second verse Kanami lead guitarist is trolling Miku the singer/rhythm guitarist because she forgot the words in that part of the song the last time. Why? Cause they can! Cause they know each other are just that good. Cause they're BandMaid and their life is dope! The greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century!
I want the current me to travel back in time 4 years to the past me and say, "Your favorite band EVER is going to be five Japanese women dressed as maids." I want to see the look on my face. Thanks Guys! 🕊
Band-Maid is THE best live rock band on the planet. Absolutely top-tier musicians and performers. Seen them live multiple times and each show is better than the last.
Awesome!!! Thank you so much for reacting to my request 😁 I figure you would like the drum solo. I am really happy to see how much you two recogize that music is universal and you don't necessarily need to know the words to understand the message. Great reaction!
They have it all..Passion Work Heart Talent. Magical band, amazing musicians, close friends. Imo..Best band in this Universe 💥 I just hope they get all the glory and respect they deserve here in Western World too. They are so good that whole world gotta know them 🙏🏻 Lovin’ Band-Maid ❤️ Greets from Finland 🇫🇮🤘
When you are a band that is incredibly talented, cohesive, and professional like Band-Maid, you can perform with joy they have. That comes out in the performance and the audience enjoys spending their money and time to attend such a show. This song is evident to a lot of what up and coming groups (rock or otherwise) need to do to be at this level.
I'm so glad you gentlemen reacted to "Freedom", it is such a great song. I've seen them three times between 2022 and 2023 and I hope to see them again on their next US tour. These ladies are the real deal. I've been following rock since the late 1950's, I'll be 77 in 9 days, and I haven't been as excited over a rock group since 1975 or so. Their shows are not just a concert, they are an experience, literally. They have revived the love of rock in so many older, and new rockers, across the globe. They literally have fans on every continent, including Antarctica, where they are very popular at McMurdo Base. They are the leaders, but it's not just them. Japan leads the league in great female bands in rock, metal and Jazz/Funk. There has to be at least 20 really good female bands, and probably more. If you want to see one hell of a live video, check out the song "Don't You Tell Me" from the finale of their 10th anniversary tour in Yokohama, Japan from November of 2023. The differences are like night and day and and you will see how much they have developed in the 4 years since this video was done. The lead guitarist, Kanami Tono , is also the composer and is a bonafide musical genius, which you will see as you journey along with the rest of us Maidiacs. And as far as her musicianship goes, I'm pretty sure that Sister Rosetta Sharp, the finest female guitarist in music history, is smiling down on her. And to get a true idea of their musicianship, check out the music video for "From Now On", an instrumental which is a LOT heavier than "Freedom"; and the live official video of another instrumental, "Onset", which is the first Band Maid song I have ever heard. It is one the most finely crafted compositions I have heard since the early 60's and groups like The Ventures, The Surfaris, The Tornados, The Rip Chords and from England, The Shadows. You will not be disappointed. Thanks for the great reactions.
♥ these girls! One of their lighter songs. Great drum & guitar solos! I suggest these Band Maid songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble, No God (live) & Puzzle (live) I'd also suggest another all female band from Mexico - The Warning! Maybe start with Money, Automatic Sun, Disciple, or Evolve (live from MTV VMAs) Seen both of them play live at last month's concert in Tokyo! Was amazing!
Great to see the joy on your faces as they play their way into your heart and soul. You're definitely Maidiacs now. The Pigeon-hole is deep and diverse. Continue to journey and enjoy the ride. PO! 🕊 🤘😆🤘
What a band, I see a poster of Bob Marley on your wall and he said something along the lines of - the great thing about music is that when it hits you, you feel no pain - when I first heard the Maids they hit me like Mike Tyson on his best day and I felt nothing but joy and elation and those feelings have only increased, the Maids make my day everyday, thanks from Australia 👍🍻
BAND-MAID: more awesone than awesone :) That transition from drum to guitar solo is so well written and played without any effort. Impressing! Thanks for the reaction guys.
The Maids performing one of their (two) most performed songs: Freedom and Real Existence. The Maids in this MV are pure perfection, aren't they? I mean, what can you fault? And those faces... their attitude... their music... their playing... their story... and their joy! Band-Maid is a world treasure, imo! Thanks, La & Che, for bringing the world's best hard rock band to your viewers!
You're exactly right. Practice and hard work is resulting in Band-Maid about to become one of the biggest bands on the planet. You guys are reacting to some great music, I think I'll subscribe.
Great reaction, gents, thanks for looking deeper into the Maids! Looking forward to seeing you react to more! Agreed, music is universal! Yes, some of the English is "Go away" so you're listening skills are excellent! Took me a long time to catch that as what they were saying.
This reminds me of the story about the engineers at Volvo, thinking that they would show the Japanese car companies a thing or two, made an extremely small bolt, out of stainless steel, so small it required a magnifying glass to see it clearly. About a month later they received the bolt back in the mail from the Japanese engineers. They had tapped it out and screwed in a far smaller bolt that almost required a microscope to see. The Japanese can take whatever you give them and advance it.
Band Maid is the gift that keeps on giving. You always feel awesome, happy, nostalgic, excited, and ready for World Domination. Funny enough, that is their Goal. Let's make it happen fam!
Female led bands from Asia is where the rock/metal scene is!! I saw Band-Maid in Atlanta last year, and it was a blast! But they are only the tip of the iceberg. Babymetal, LOVEBITES, Hanabie, Otoboke Beaver, Nemophila, Rolling Quartz and many others are just waiting for you to discover them. Most of these bands have recently played in the states, and several will be here this fall, including Babymetal, LOVEBITES, and Hanabie.
Glad you like them. Best rock band on the planet. I would suggest HATE? live from Yokohama Arena. Be sure to do closed caption, the lyrics are pretty hilarious in places and the bass/guitar conversation will blow your socks off. If you really want to do some research there are videos about each member and their journey to where they are on TH-cam. They're really interesting, especially when you get to Miku, the rhythm guitarist who started the band.
Band-Maid is known as hard rock but they do many different genres, sometimes within a single song. But whatever style the do, they will do it well. Jump in the water/music is fine.
Band-Maid isn't my cup of tea but I'm astounded by the quality of music coming out of Japan that I've found on youtube. If you haven't done it, check out the all female band Tokyo Groove Jyoshi's first version of Tower Of Power's song What Is Hip? The bass player in that original lineup Juna Serita is a monster. Also, The Jazz Avengers is an eight piece all female band. Their song Maybe I Know will blow your doors off. That whole band are all monsters but the drummer Senri Kawaguchi is the best known along with the bassist Juna Serita.
Many of their music videos including their live performances over the last I think 5 years or so Maybe a little less maybe a little more. Have been including subtitles if you punch it up when the video begins. Again keep up the good work always enjoy watching you two guys.
Japan still teaches the arts in their schools. Talent is recognized early. Kanami, lead guitar, began piano lessons at 3 yo. Not uncommon, almost every Japanese bands you will react to has at least one member that began at 3. There are clubs in the schools for student bands.
I always love your reactions and you guys nail it almost every time. 59-year-old who grew up listening to the classics. Or what we consider to be classic rock from the '60s to the late '80s. You guys should dedicate maybe one day a month or maybe even one day a week. To the incredible Japanese rock hard rock scene and even metal that has been coming out of Japan for the last 10 years or more. Most of these groups are comprised of women. Not the chick groups in the US from the '70s and '80s. Serious musicians composing incredible songs. And performing them live flawlessly. The two groups that really you should concentrate on if I may be as So bold to suggest. Would be this group here, Band Maid and Nemophilia. And a little three-piece hijab wearing group of Muslim ladies from Indonesia in the group VOB. Take care and keep up the good work.
Rock and Roll has not died, it simply got a passport and a new outfit!

We in their "cult" are called "Maidiacs".
There's room for more. Welcome!
