No one will ever be like Beyoncé, just like no one will ever be like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, MJ, or Madonna. I think this hurts people's careers and there's space for everyone. I love so many different artists. That's what i Love about music. P.s i miss Aaliyah so much. She was really special. Thanks for this vídeo.
@@ZacharyBoi a lot of them yeah, but I think it comes from this new idea that we have to call everyone an icon for breathing and you get attacked if u don’t
What really strikes me as odd is that no one mentions Janet. tho her impact of more important that any of those artists to the icons/ legend of our generation.
It’s so confusing when people talk about how they want something new and different in music but when there is somebody new and different they immediately compare that person to a previous artist. Like make it make sense 😵💫
While I love Rih, putting her in the legends circle and comparing her to Prince is def false. Rih is an icon in her own right, but it takes a level of artistry (impeccable vocal ability, dance, instrumental talents, etc.) to be in that specfic circle and I think Rih understood that. She is a musical icon (comparisons to Madonna/Britney I think is better), but comparing her to Beyoncé now is undermining Bey' talent and impact.
@Natasha Fernandez I wasn't comparing Rihanna to Prince I was describing how Bey and Rih are in two totally different lanes like MJ and Prince were...some ppl compared them back in the day and they were pit against each other but they were different and iconic.
@@floraluxdivina Agreed. I think Doja Cat is a good example of this. She makes good songs, gets positive press, and she can actually dance. You can’t compare her to Beyoncé, but I think that she will be mega internationally famous with a good discography one of these days
It’s been people who could perform just as great as her or better. Bobby Brown, Sisqo, B2K, TLC, Prince, MJ, Whitney, Aaliyah, Chris Brown, Ciara, Ginuwine, Usher, Tina Turner, James Brown, etc. She just more relevant. In the past the music industry was like a talent show not a fashion show, and artist kept their private lives a mystery. And even when they showed their lives it was just a documentary. Beyoncé kept up with the tradition.
@Flora Lux Divina I agree. In however many years there will be a woman who achieves mega popularity with ultra-loyal fanbases and people will say the same thing: that there will never be anyone on that level again. Until there is and again the cycle continues. There will always be "God-like" entertainers in human history...they just differ depending on the social environment and trends of the time.
I just hate when people say that "this person is the next that" especially when they compare one celebrity into another or tear one down and uplift another. Everyone is their own person and nobody can be the next someone. It's like, people can't make a name for themselves without being compared and being torn down. The industry is industry I guess?
To me, it will never be a generation like Mj, Prince, Madonna, Janet, Whitney, Mariah etc, this new generation ain't for me, Beyonce is not on that category
I feel something people always miss about the Beyonce package is her insane vocal capability and upper belting. Most of the girls we been naming over the few years can't even sing above a c5 in full voice. I love them all but Beyonce being able to sing on a world class level and do things like the drunk in love run in Dubai is what adds to her mysticism. People tend to underlook the fact that part of the reason Bey is so world renown is because you can find a Filipino girl, Australian girl, or Brazilian girl who all adore her purely for her vocals and will spend hours belting out the high notes of listen. all the new girls can be there best self but never Beyonce unless they start working on getting their mix voice to a crazy level.
Right, Beyoncé is the greatest performer alive but she's also a star rated vocalist. Mama can sang her ass off like she did in Dubai, do crazy runs/riffs (look at the the Drunk in Love outro and Countdown intro)
There will never be another Beyoncé. Venus, Aphrodite, is only personified in human form once every thousand years. We have to wait another millennium to see someone else replace that soul, sensuality, and embodiment of love.
C5 is a very high note like you said it as if that was a low note like B4 when it isn’t… any vocal coach will tell you C5 is a pretty high note. Those high notes Barbra Streisand is known for are all C5s and D5s. The super high note that Celine Dion is known for in all by myself is an F5 so only two notes above a C5. That gives context to how high a C5 is
@@angechrisman1694 I don’t know why people keep referencing this random person’s blog as if it has any sort of legitimacy like every time I see people specifically say star rated vocalist I know exactly what they’re quoting and they’re quoting some random blogger from the early 2010s
Thank you so much for including the Tinashe segment cause it seems like people forget she highkey ushered in this new era of black female performers and as a Tinashe stan since 2014 I remember the unnecessary hate & bullying she dealt with as a result of white media publications comparing her to every black female artist past and present. The Beyoncé segment with her being compared to Janet was sooooo good as well because ppl seem to forget Beyoncé went through it too.
@@naomi.cannibal And it needs to stop. White media knows exactly what they’re doing when they do those comparisons it absolutely perpetuates the idea that “there’s only room for 1-2 black women” I hate that rhetoric.
@@angechrisman1694 She was compared to Janet just as much cause Beyonce was doing heavier choreo while singing like Janet did. Tina wasn't dancing like that. Either way the comparisons were unnecessary.
Although no one in the newer generation will ever really top Beyoncé, I believe of all the names you mentioned Chloe really has the star power, budget, and team behind her to become an incredible household name. It's unfortunate that Normani's career has seemingly been slowed down due to her label although I think in some ways she's in it for the long run when it comes to releasing little music at a time. As for Tinashe, she's def not in the mainstream like she used to be, but her albums since 2019 have all been pretty well-received and she has a creative direction that comes unparalleled to anyone else in R&B/Pop at the moment so hopefully she'll rise back to prominence. I wonder why women often get pitted together in music so frequently; it doesn't really seem like men or the industry contribute to it as much anymore or often except for a few instances, but more so fan pages and die-hard fan bases.
I genuinely didn’t think we’d live to see the day where a lot of stans are more toxic for artists/ music than the labels, but here we are 🤷🏾♀️ that’s why so many artists don’t even interact anymore, they just drop their stuff and dip
@@angechrisman1694 Nicki I get because some of her flow choices was clearly inspired by Nicki but why lady Gaga? Doja is a pretty unique artist and I haven’t heard much music like hers. You have to reach pretty hard to say she’s being like another artist
There won’t be “Another/New/Next Beyoncé,” just like there won’t be a “Another/New/Next _____.” Everyone will always remain themselves, albeit maybe with similar vibes here and there… or none at all!
I really wonder why doja cat doesn't come up more in this conversation. She's not very similar to Beyonce in style but more like a gen z version of what beyonce represents. Her performances get you really excited so you want to see what she's going to do next and she's just as much involved in producing/writing. She has amazing stage presence, is a very skilled dancer and so creative with her music and visuals. I feel like she really hits the zeitgeist of this generation the way beyonce does for us.
There's never going to be another artist like her. Especially not that combination of talents. She's simply irreplaceable. Beyonce is once in a lifetime generation talent.
@@crispri3919 Another beyonce? No. However saying they will never be another artist with that combination of talents, is a stretch. People said the same thing about MJ, but Beyonce came along and now she's being compared to him, despite them being their own unique selves and many have gotten to see both in one lifetime. You never know what the future will bring, I'm sure they will be many others with that combination of talent in the future, but they will be uniquely themselves too.
There can and hopefully will be another "the great entertainer" in the next generation like Beyonce or mj, but they will not be beyonce because because beyonce isn't like mj. I think this is a thing where artists vs lay people don't understand each other. A gifted mezzo-soprano classically trained with an insane melisma and a head voice able to pierce even some sopranos and able to go as low as men combined with insane energy while dancing as well as a "star aura" that is unique to their stage persona is not coming. Some of you see beyonce or mj or prince and see "dances and sings really good" but the reality is there is so much unique to these individual performers that even if someone MORE talented comes along after all the stars align they will never get a chance to artistically grow and get better if we beat them down with the pressure of being beyonce or mj like we do chloe or normani. Beyonce didn't even start getting these mj comparisons until later in her career. These new artists are getting it on their first solo videos
They did this thing too with Mariah. Everybody was ready to say "The next Mariah Carey" with Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Ariana Grande but none still reached that level of artistry. People are bound to compare regardless.
I loveee tinashe!! She’s a baddie, she can sing, rap, dance, the whole package and has been experimenting with aesthetics. The 333 album rollout has been great! Her vocal style is really recognisable too, like I can easily tell when she’s featured on a song ❤
i just gotta say naomi, i have grown so tired of most youtubers and discourse but your channel still feels fresh. what i mean is, you’re the current fave
tbh I respect tinashe the most out of the girls you mentioned not only for her discography, also cuz she has her own aesthetic, sound, performance style to the point now we are seeing young artists doing things tinashe already did and people on social media are noticing when someone is being inspired by tinashe. and that’s powerful.
The music industry is full of celebrities, not many superstars. Beyonce is a superstar. Superstars have three common attributes: Greatness drives them, as well as their refusal to quit, and they won't let anyone or anything stand in their way to accomplish their desired goal. Superstars aren’t afraid to evolve and grow. Many artists today aren’t growing artistically. Beyonce’s talent, showmanship and singing abilities is similar to an athlete who perfected his/her craft. Although Beyonce is still very young, she’s been perfecting her craft since she was a child. Beyonce perfected her craft through artist development. Who is the next Beyonce? No one. There is enough space and room for other artist to achieve greatness.
No one can be a queen like Beyoncé, maybe she can sing and dance . But she can make her own crowd on her own prime. She can build her own kingdom base on her own talent , that no one can replace.
I know a lot of the comparisons are supposed to be compliments but it can put an undo pressure on an artist to be compared to an icon. Especially if its clear that their music has inspired them but everybody has their own lane. And even if we think originality is dead; artists still have something fresh to offer and should be allowed to explore that
2:58 Jay-Z and LA Reid were actually putting more money into Teairra Mari at that time. Thinking she was the next big act. Rihanna was the underdog that they didn’t give much attention to. LA Reid was quoted saying: “At the label, we thought Teairra Mari would be the big star,” Reid recounted. “We spent more time on her, did more work on her, paid more attention to her. Rihanna already had a hit with ‘Pon De Replay,’ but we still thought it was the other girl.” But Reid’s attitude shifted quickly thanks to-yes- Beyoncé. “Beyoncé came up to me,” Reid wrote. “‘That Rihanna girl,’ she said, ‘she’s a beast.’” There is no way Beyoncé, at that time in 2005, would’ve known that her comment would make LA Reid completely change trajectory and put more focus on RiRi. Beyoncé was just a fan of what RiRi was bringing to the stage and she gave her honest opinion. Turns out Beyoncé has a good eye for talent…because the rest was histoRIH. 😂
I remember this discourse surrounded Michael Jackson and who would be the next celebrity’s celebrity. It’s very hard to achieve “old-world famous”/icon status like Beyoncé because of social media.
Right, when everyone can be a celebrity, no one can be. I think it’s also watered down our concept of what being a true powerhouse entertainer like Beyoncé / Janet/ Michael / Madonna/ Prince is
@@naomi.cannibal I don’t know about when everyone can be a celebrity no one can be because there isn’t a cap or limit. It’s also highly individual and subjective because who may be famous to one person may not be famous to another person especially given the whole other layer of fame that exists now which is Internet fame and to many young people Internet people are bigger than some of these established celebrities. The whole. And which Beyoncé came up is just different than now and honestly I think it’s kind of a good thing that there isn’t this idolization to the level of like untouchability at least natural degree that it existed 20 years ago

i dont think beyonce, janet, and rihanna have much overlap as far as music sound, style, and niche. they are all pretty much in their own category imo.
I think people see a greatness in Chlöe similar to the greatness they saw/see in Beyonce and instead of embracing and encouraging her they let their insecurities tear her down. Had Chlöe "paid homage" with a crazy in love look in her video she would have been draggggeeedddddd.
Can you please do a video series on the significance of older artists such as New Edition, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Whitney Houston, Cher, George Michael, etc. If not it’s fine I just want people to know how great these people are and their importance bc people seem to forget the 80s R&B and Pop stars’ influence
Comparisons aren’t really fair. It subconsciously diminishes a person’s potential even before they truly begin. Most newer artists study the archetypes before them because of admiration and ambition. But I think that people fail to forget that no two people can be the same. There can be similarities, but the direction that an artist chooses to go will always have a different voice and experience behind it.
I’m the next Beyoncé when I’m in the shower!!! She got nothing on my shower performances!!!! With this whole conversation here’s my take on it. Beyoncé is a legend that doesn’t get the respect that she deserves. She truly is the blueprint. And also she is from a CERTAIN POINT in music!!! So there will never be another one! And she is one of the few artists that can actually sing. I consider her and Adele to be some of the last great divas (and before y’all even ask YES I’m still waiting for that power ballad duet!)
There is always going to be a next big artist/icon. I'm Interested in who is next/new. Comparing artists is fine imo as long your not dismissive of one over the other. I agree with you on people throwing out "she's the next so and so" way too easily. It can take years for this to become apparent and usually only happens once in a generation for true icons
@mudeasno1baby73 Yeah well hopefully she is given her own choices and is not forced to be a beyonce level star and constantly pressured to meet her moms requirement
In Brazil, each and every black singer that appeared was called Beyoncé. And some of them chose their names inspired by her. Ludmilla, a famous brazilian singer started her career as "MC Beyoncé". I'm glad the media stopped it, because it makes it seem like any black female singer was a version of Beyoncé just because she was black. But I think it goes to show how famous and influential Beyoncé is.
@@TheMG20089 beyoncé is the best selling Internacional female artist in brazil this century, overall only behind madonna so no, rihanna ISN'T more famous in brazil
Maybe it should be “the next total package” because those are rare. I can really only think of her Micheal and James Brown who had the pipes, the songs, and the dancing.
There is no next Beyoncé because her performing skills and vocal talent are one of a kind. However, an artist that (in my opinion) doesn’t get the respect she deserves is Tinashe. This lady writes all of her songs, knows how to hop from genre to genre amazingly well AND can hold a note live. She may not be the best vocalist out there but her versatility is truly one of a kind. It’s sad that only artists that get a ‘viral’ moment are getting all the attention nowadays… PS: thank you very much for including Tinashe in this video ❤️

Everyone was making fun of her vocals, and said she couldn't sing, but that she sounded like a goat. It was Good Girl Gone Bad that caught our attention, and how she switched up her style. Rihanna was compared to Beyonce when she came out because they were trying to model Rihanna's style after Beyonce's. If Tierra had the same support and money from Jay-Z backing her up, she would have been a major success. We have to be honest with ourselves, stars are created and ''they'' tell you who to love. It is not really about talent, as much as it is about image and popularity. It is not like how it use to be where there were many great singers out at once, it wasn't a competition about who is or was the best, everyone got shine and was amazing. It is not like that anymore. There can only be one, and that is what I hate most about mainstream music.
I would absolutely hate being called “ the next so and so “ Yes it can be an honor but you basically have the responsibility to live up to someone else’s legacy/impact. This would be stressful beyond measures and if you don’t do it your considered a “ flop “
The next Beyoncé thing is such a double edged sword argument that nobody wins. On one hand, you’re setting up whoever for failure when they don’t live up to the hype you think they should. On the other, you’re lowkey insinuating that Beyoncé’s time is up and it’s time for a replacement. Chloe’s music isn’t my cup of tea because I feel like she’s punching way down and I know someone, somewhere is sabotaging Normani, but once they both get it together, they’re going to be superstars in their own rights. Then Tinashe is Tinashe. People who don’t pay attention to her are always trying to compare her to someone when she’s actually the blueprint so many girls are not so secretly following. She is a lot of record companies and A&R people’s Beyoncé.
I feel like this whole whole “New Beyoncé” is a blessing & a curse. I know they are all different but a lot of them clearly draw inspiration from Beyoncé. Flashy outfits, long flowing hair blowing in the wind, intense choreography etc. Idk how to explain this I just want a bit more variety from our black queens

@naomi.cannibal But also beyonce has done some many genres and styles even country, rock, etc that no matrer what any black female who dances half decent, can sing, etc is "copying beyonce"
That's probably another reason why Rihanna was huge during her "Good Girl Gone Bad" era. She had short hair, a dominatrix style and experimented with her music, even incorporating Rock on the album.

I am so glad I watched the video instead of judging it from the thumbnail 🤣 Rih is Rih and Bey is Bey. Equally as iconic and accomplished. All the other young ladies are very talented as well and I can not wait to see what new they all bring to the game 😊
Saying these words like “The Next New ____” when talking about artists that are new to mainstream puts them under a lot of stress. It is creating these impossible standards that new artists must achieve and that can take a toll on their artistry ( lack of individuality, originality, over exposure to fans and media alike, and so on and so forth).
While surprise is a decent record, Beyoncé pretty much unintentionally sabotaged Chloe’s song rollout. Chloe gave her fans the option of choosing her next single release and it was between 3 songs, “surprise, for the night and cheat back”. Chloe did a poll and “for the night” won and it would have been a perfect mid tempo song for the summer. But for whatever reason Chloe revealed that Beyoncé told her to release sunrise instead (a slow R&B record for the summer 😑) which was a horrible decision. And then Beyoncé had the audacity to announce her release for break my soul which completely overshadowed Chloe’s release causing her to flop. There was no promo, radio play or anything during Chloe’s first tracking week of her song release and personality I blame Beyoncé for that.
@@rydercdaniels4475 yeah, I remember being slightly mad when she decided to release surprise. I like the song but for the night was the better choice especially since it was summer and it was catchy r&b track that could've done really well on radio plus majority of the people voted for it as well

This might be controversial for me to say…oh well lol. I think our new “it girl” for this generation is Doja Cat. I don’t say the next Beyoncé because there will never be another her. But think about the black “it girls” we’ve had in the past. Aretha, Tina Turner, Donna Summer, Whitney, Janet, Brandy, Aaliyah, Beyoncé, Rihanna, etc. They all were an evolution of each other in some way. Who in this generation is the new “it girl?” It’s Doja Cat. Everything she puts out blows up, no matter the genre. The “it girl” transcends genres. And I love Chloe, Normani, and Tinashe, but neither of them is the new “it girl.” Chloe needs Halle because her music doesn’t hit without Halle. Normani needs a new team, new music, etc. Tinashe’s music isn’t mainstream enough and general listeners won’t gravitate to her because she’s more of a mood. Just my opinion though.
Doja is great but she lacks the passion. SZA and Lizzo are the only chicks really dedicated to music. And it shows in their recent success. They have a real music mindset.
I like all 3 wemon (Tinashe is my fave , I like Normani and I like Chloe) now sadly people don’t really listen to Tinashe she has a electronic futuristic pop style which I love because it’s different. Normani has really good vocals and choreography with a more pop sound. Now Chloe would probably fit because she has that diva style that Beyoncé has. But honestly I like all the ladies and I agree with this content creator but I feel like Tinashe and Normani are underrated ❤❤
Love your analysis as always! I just wanna add that Rihanna first came, her lane was not clear until her 3rd album. Prior, she had the long hair and even had vocal runs/styling like Bey. While she was never gonna/supposed to be the next Bey, her initial image was sweet, and so the comparisons were more understandable (not to me lol).
Comparison is the thief of joy. As long as artist are being compared to other artist we are handicapping their ability to truly achieve their greatest potential. For example, I love nicki Minaj, but as long as she feels like she needs to fight off other rap girlies, she will never truly reach her highest potential, because too much of her time is being spent in beefs and disses instead of the meaningful and relatable rhymes she is more than capable of. That type of mindset and environment creates a dog eat dog world.
The way you had to insert nicki into this when nobody is talking about her. Nicki be on y’all mind rent free. How is she just having beefs with the girls when the girls are the one attacking her first? You expect her but to respond? Y’all come on here and become so dumb. She has reached her highest potential and still reaching more. FOH CLOWN
I love all three of these women. The only reason they compare or say such about being the new beyonce is because it's more of a star quality, it factor, stage presence thing. It's not a bad thing. Just because beyonce Is the highest standard of a superstar, but there are others who might not be as a big but still influential like when it comes to tinashe or normani. They have hella talent that's why they get compared to beyonce just because of the star quality. But for them two it's more like new and improved mya and ciara.
I’m glad u brought up rih being a peer of bey. All these girls r peers to me. tinashe deserves more flowers but she’ll always be independent & will not get the same opportunities Chloe. And mani is MIA. Chloe’s coming for the crown. ice spice is hustling too we need to keep an eye on her
I see girls who can sing, dance, rap and perform today but for some reason it's still lacking. Beyonce even way back early 2000 always had that different IT level. She is both loveable and hate-able if you're insecure. When she sings, it's very very technically detailed and pitch **always** perfect. When she dances, it's not overdone but not underdone either. She does it just as much as her dancers. In addition, her energy is a perfect blend of feminine and masculine, she stands there and you'd look at her. A class act in person and a beast on stage. Like a switch and it's consistent with no bad records like drug scandal, smoking, or physical fighting. Most importantly, she is known for topping her previous records not in awards or charts, but in artistic sense. You collect all the girls and put them in one stage with Beyonce, she stands out just how she carry herself alone. It wasn't just Matthew's product of pushing her, but it's also her innate desire (since age 7) that catapulted her to where she is today. There is no next Beyonce, but I hope these girls today will create a name of their own brand.
Unpopular opinion : I feel as if Chloe bailey is being sabotaged. She has been shelved for a year then parkwoods decides to release her debut album 2 months before one of the biggest movies of the year that has her sister stars in. It will overshadow her album
Chloe can sing but she does not gave the stage presence and she is not a very good dancer. People need to be themselves. Also, Chloe dies nit gave a captivating look, makeup helps but Chloe is basic pretty. Better looking young women in the neighorhood
I’ve been saying that Chloe was being sabotaged. Her single choices, release dates for those types of singles she chooses, she’s not being guided right.
@kimmy There are a lot of singers that are basic af in appearance but had and have risen to sueprstardom. Nice try for going on about her appearance which isn't true. She has a standout look currently in the music industry facial wise there isn't anyone else that looks like her mainstream. Everyone has a certain look to them that is striking.
To be honest I'm a fan of her and her sister but I'm going to look at her solo music she just doesn't stand out I don't want no twerking music it seemed like she still trying to find her sound
Thank you Naomi, for your intelligence, your generous overview, your compassion and your love of music when covering those topics. I too love them all!
i think a video about the next justin bieber would really interesting especially since the western market tried to straight up copy him (ex: austin mahone) while international artists used that title to emphasize their talent or popularity (wizkid calling himself the nigerian justin bieber, jungkook calling himself justin seagull)
The challenge I have with this comparison is , that it is always along race as if folks can’t be influenced by another artist who is a different race than them. Brittany Spears stated on multiple occasions that she was influenced by Janet Jackson but she was publicly compared to Madonna . Music is universal and it has no boundaries
Im not into mainstream pop music anymore, more indie pop bc artists are far more experimental. Something that made me think when watching this video is why do we need to compare artists to other artists that have established themselves (beyonce, etc.). Since branching out in my taste of music, Ive come to feel that these comparisions could be holding them back. the new artists might not get to experiment with their sound as much as they could because they are supposed to be beyonce or rihanna and if they dont hold up to this standard then they have done something wrong. I like the point brought up that artists need someone to keep them working hard to create the best they can, this was regarding beyonce v rihanna and how we got single ladies. I think beyonces best album was lemonade, it was so inventive and I feel that she really drew inspiration from herself. I will probably get flack for this but i feel popular culture has had a negative impact on artists, I havent listened to renassaince but based on what i heard from break my soul, it suffers from this and isnt up to beyonces usual quality (unpopular opinion im sure lol). anyways i think ive started ranting again lol so hopefully some of it makes sense hahaha. sumerising basically comparing artists to established artists is hurting them and I dont feel that the quality of mainstream music is as good anymore lol. haha where is the really out there creative music 🤣. I think you definitley said it better than me lol
Doja cat came so close to being a suitable replacement, but she's letting her weird quirky side show a little too much lol ... maybe that's intentional so that she does't become so pressured. When she made that song streets, that was the last time I really really liked Doja. She was glamorous but edgy ...
I always want that Beyonce and Rihanna to collaborate plus I wanted her to collaborate with Janet Jackson it be so many collaboration people the missing picture these collaboration
They love to compare women they always loved doing this especially to a black woman and it appears so many other things like black shows and a lot of other stuff
I feel the fastest way to curb talent and kill new legacy is to attribute someone’s craft as a continuation or a borrow off of someone else’s. It’s highly disrespectful because they now are forced into a cube to 1) embody 2) aspire towards someone they are not. The masses seeking the next Beyoncé is counterintuitive to creating room for more and/or other excellent talent to shine through. The limiting belief that nobody can be as, if not more, monumental than Beyoncé is precisely what prevents the possibility of that occurring. Because why not? Why discourage it? It is great credit to be a benchmark, shoutout to Yoncé, I do believe there are great performers we have yet to see, and I’d like a public imaginary that permits for that possibility. It is the destiny of the next generation to surpass the previous and I would love for the spirit of encouragement to thrive for up and coming artists.
Sometimes when I look at them I do see Beyonce I see Mya I see Janet Jackson Randy Britney Spear Aaliyah and so many others you can definitely tell inspired by these people and definitely other people this is why I be hard for them plus they are black women plus that's all they get computer to each other sometimes you just don't have your own identity if you keep on getting compared to somebody else I know all of these women are
Thanks for another video 🥳. And I just wish people would stop the unwarranted comparisons. Let them stay in their own lane and be their own artist 🤷🏽♀️.
While I'm a diehard Rihanna fan, Beyoncé is an icon. Rihanna was even influenced and inspired by her. So unfortunately the up and coming female artists will always have that label. It's a way to forcefully shove an icon's catalogue in a newcomers face. Like if this is what you want to do, you need to be in top form like this or you will fail. Influencing so much PRESSURE on the newbies. On another note tho what video is this dance sequence from with Tinashae? 13:54 It's different, it's like she shaking off clones of herself. It looks awesome!! Overall great video🔥🔥👌🏽👌🏽
I feel like while it may be an honor to these girls I feel like it discredits anything a black young start does cause they worked hard their life to be called …. Someone else? No
Singing and performance =Chloe Performance& presence=Normani HOWEVER!!! Beyoncé’s work ethic is still unmatched. None of these young women can come close because they lack that hunger. It’s not their fault though. Their generation is about internet culture and fast fame. Not longevity and building generational wealth.
Normani doesn't want to be the next anything. She is gorgeous and poised but she's overall pretty boring. Chloe wants to be THAT GIRL so badly but she just doesn't have the "it" factor. Again, Chloe is very beautiful and talented but she just doesn't have the "It" factor. Doja and SZA are more likely to be the "next Beyonce" because they have both proven they have the pull, the looks, presence, talent, and work ethic, aka the "IT" factor.
@@angechrisman1694 i know she’s not, but in terms of talent and having pull Sza is way closer to icon status akin to Beyoncé than Chloe, Normani, or tinashae.
Chloe has had one of the most iconic debuts in the 2020s and possibly the 2010s. I have no doubts that her album will fulfill everything we’ve wanting! “Have Mercy” and “Pray Away” are the only singles I’ve liked from her but I’m still super optimistic about her album.
There will never be the next anyone. Why would you want there to be a new artist that’s just a different version of an already established and iconic artist that you like. Wouldn’t you want something completely different? Every artist is unique to their own time, Style, etc. Also the way that we Judge success is varied Especially since the method in which music artist break nowadays is vastly different than when the time Beyoncé came up. The music industry is so fragmented now and it can’t really be compared to the 90s when Beyoncé started. But there could never be the next anybody because the people that really stand out or become the big stars in the way that we talk about legends or what not they don’t follow what other people do like they are inspired but they are unique to themselves and they are something different. And even this applies to Rihanna and Beyoncé because Rihanna isn’t really anything of a performer or artist like Beyoncé it’s just they were both around the same time and had a lot of industry comparisons I feel like we also need to remember that in the scope of human history all of this is very new
No one will ever be like Beyoncé, just like no one will ever be like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, MJ, or Madonna. I think this hurts people's careers and there's space for everyone. I love so many different artists. That's what i Love about music.
P.s i miss Aaliyah so much. She was really special. Thanks for this vídeo.

Right
Bey and Rih are like MJ and Prince...both Icons in their owns rights and die hard fan bases. They've always been in two different lanes.
Different lanes for sure! I think it’s wild ppl compare

Yes, it’s impossible because she started in the 90s and celebrities broke differently in that era. No one will ever have a journey like hers.
Exactly!! Let people do them
To me, it will never be a generation like Mj, Prince, Madonna, Janet, Whitney, Mariah etc, this new generation ain't for me, Beyonce is not on that category

@@naomi.cannibal And it needs to stop. White media knows exactly what they’re doing when they do those comparisons it absolutely perpetuates the idea that “there’s only room for 1-2 black women” I hate that rhetoric.
Beyoncé was more compared to Tina Turner than Beyoncé as far as stage presence, singing and dance wise
@@angechrisman1694 She was compared to Janet just as much cause Beyonce was doing heavier choreo while singing like Janet did. Tina wasn't dancing like that. Either way the comparisons were unnecessary.
Yes they was calling Tinashe mediocre I was like dam but she’s a triple threat she can sing , dance & makes her own beats

Not true. God made other talented people too, not just one.
@@sbusisiweshaba1715 And they will never be beyonce.

They kept saying Leona Lewis was next Mariah. And it ruined her career.

I loveee tinashe!! She’s a baddie, she can sing, rap, dance, the whole package and has been experimenting with aesthetics. The 333 album rollout has been great! Her vocal style is really recognisable too, like I can easily tell when she’s featured on a song ❤
It's insulting to say the Next Beyonce when she is still here alive and kicking.
i just gotta say naomi, i have grown so tired of most youtubers and discourse but your channel still feels fresh. what i mean is, you’re the current fave
Thank you so much!! I try to keep it entertaining lol
tbh I respect tinashe the most out of the girls you mentioned not only for her discography, also cuz she has her own aesthetic, sound, performance style to the point now we are seeing young artists doing things tinashe already did and people on social media are noticing when someone is being inspired by tinashe. and that’s powerful.
Can you give some examples?
She isn't considered young anymore in the music world (especially the pop world), though generally speaking I would agree with you.
No one can be a queen like Beyoncé, maybe she can sing and dance . But she can make her own crowd on her own prime. She can build her own kingdom base on her own talent , that no one can replace.
Everything you just said applies to like any pop star 😂. I love Beyoncé I just spent a lot to see her for her tour but like can you chill?
I know a lot of the comparisons are supposed to be compliments but it can put an undo pressure on an artist to be compared to an icon. Especially if its clear that their music has inspired them but everybody has their own lane. And even if we think originality is dead; artists still have something fresh to offer and should be allowed to explore that
Agreed!
Rihanna already had a hit with ‘Pon De Replay,’ but we still thought it was the other girl.”
But Reid’s attitude shifted quickly thanks to-yes- Beyoncé. “Beyoncé came up to me,” Reid wrote. “‘That Rihanna girl,’ she said, ‘she’s a beast.’”
There is no way Beyoncé, at that time in 2005, would’ve known that her comment would make LA Reid completely change trajectory and put more focus on RiRi. I think it would be cool to see a video of all the moments Beyonce was randomly mentioned at award shows and how she’s managed to become THE star amongst the stars. She’s breaking her own records and literally is her only competition lol.
She's her own competition ? Meanwhile, her peers her surpassing her in sales and streaming and they always have. People are so brainwashed.
@@tias.6675 If she has to break her OWN records that she’s previously broken in the years prior, (Grammys) is always being praised by supper successful/talented artist today who idolize her, is said to be the best performer of our generation, who’s work ethic is unmatched, and is literally used as the bar for excellence in the music industry by everyone, how is she not her only competition? You’re talking about artist surpassing her in sales and streaming as if Beyonce has shown any indication within the last 7yrs that she’s at all concerned with sales and streaming.
That was made apparent when she dropped an album with zero promotion influencing other big name artist to do the same. Furthermore, Beyoncé has literally been singing/performing for 34 yrs…… Why tf would she never be surpassed in streaming or sales? You sound crazy but that’s the straw man shit y’all have to reach for because for w.e reason the acknowledgment of that lady’s excellence bothers y’all when you could just be listening to and supporting artist you like instead of telling other people they’re brainwashed because they don’t share YOUR opinion lol.
You don’t start here 👉🏾 th-cam.com/video/9OeqgtpOYGU/w-d-xo.html and get to here th-cam.com/video/8un4WllwBoA/w-d-xo.html without an extreme amount of talent, drive, passion, discipline, and work ethic. And you damn sure don’t get there being hyper focused on numbers. Theres a difference between topping the charts and longevity.
Do you have a podcast? I feel like I could binge hours of you talking about whatever pop culture subjects you're into
I am so glad I watched the video instead of judging it from the thumbnail 🤣
Rih is Rih and Bey is Bey. Equally as iconic and accomplished. All the other young ladies are very talented as well and I can not wait to see what new they all bring to the game 😊
Thank you for watching first before judging, and I’m glad I enjoyed it ♥️
Saying these words like “The Next New ____” when talking about artists that are new to mainstream puts them under a lot of stress. It is creating these impossible standards that new artists must achieve and that can take a toll on their artistry ( lack of individuality, originality, over exposure to fans and media alike, and so on and so forth).
And it undermines their own work bc ppl just act like they’re copying someone else’s path
I think Beyonce selected Suprise bc of how well produced it was. Pray it Away is Chloe’s newest well produced song.
That could honestly be the reason
I like the song but for the night was the better choice especially since it was summer and it was catchy r&b track that could've done really well on radio plus majority of the people voted for it as well
@@rydercdaniels4475 interesting assessment. So once the song.. For the Night was released.. Why didn't us fans run it to number 1? I think that's bc, after the full song was released, more of us still didn't enjoy it as much as we thought we would. Which goes back to my original point, out of all Chloes songs, production wise, Pray it Away and Suprise are her best. Now that we can listen to all songs released, Beyonce’s suggestion makes perfect sense now. Thx for sharing
@@coreybrownCYoBrown Chloe put Latto on "For the Night". A lot of ppl didn't like that. "For the Night" didn't need a feature. Adding Latto was unnecessary. Chloe probably thought Latto would help the song.
People need to be careful about worshipping Beyoncé, or any other person for that matter… be mindful of what you’re allowing into your aura.
being a fan is cool, but we really shouldn’t be worshipping anyone
So funny people get in arms about worshipping Beyonce but don’t say a peep when it comes to Rihanna, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Prince, Whitney worshipping. And they definitely don’t say a peep when it comes to white artist worshipping. Just Beyoncé, I wonder why.😊
@@SR-zv5ue Double standard
@@SR-zv5ue because people literally refer to her as the queen… the energy around Beyoncé is weird. Also my comment said, any other person. But this video is about Beyoncé. Hence, why she was the topic.
@@guinessbeer People do the same about literally every other female artist. They do that with Rihanna, Madonna, Janet, Jennifer Coolidge, Lady Gaga. Stop pretending it’s only Beyonce who gets told this.
Right, I don’t think she’s Beyoncé by any means. But I think she has the potential to be one of the biggest icons from this new generation of artists
@@naomi.cannibal Yes, I agree completely.
Very true! Her image was a looot closer to beyonces in her earlier 2 eras than it was in like gggb/ onwards
beyonce reminds me of tina turner not janet.
I too feel like Tina is a better comparison, if one had to be made
I wish they would stop saying Janet honestly
all i keep on imaging in my head is New York saying "BeYoNcEEEEeee???"
FOH CLOWN
I’ve been binging your content ALL DAY. Please keep doing what you’re doing!!
Beyonce, Nicki, Rihanna would never be replaced. Point blank period 😌
I’m glad u brought up rih being a peer of bey. All these girls r peers to me. tinashe deserves more flowers but she’ll always be independent & will not get the same opportunities Chloe. And mani is MIA. Chloe’s coming for the crown. ice spice is hustling too we need to keep an eye on her
The beauty of Beyoncé is that she cannot be topped never mind matched. Like so many other legends: Michael, Janet, Mariah, whitney (may she rip).
Those 4 can't be touched, not even Beyonce in my terms
I agree
love ur channel naomi! hello from helsinki!
Tinashe responses so real 💀she always seem like she lost patience with y’all
No right she was like if y’all don’t stop…
She writes her own song and all are trash she hasn’t hit . She should buy good songs writers like Riri . She already got talent nobody sabotaging her
@kimmy There are a lot of singers that are basic af in appearance but had and have risen to sueprstardom.

Im here just want to say Rih and Bey is like 2 Legend who never be replace

I don’t want the next Beyoncé. I just want black female artists to be their very best
Samesies. I’m happy w the bey we already have and the girls offering their own stuff to us
Beyoncé wants blue ivy to have that spot
i think a video about the next justin bieber would really interesting especially since the western market tried to straight up copy him (ex: austin mahone) while international artists used that title to emphasize their talent or popularity (wizkid calling himself the nigerian justin bieber, jungkook calling himself justin seagull)
i am so happy Tinashe created her own lane because she is eating good!
You knocked this out of the park, IMO. Every point well-considered, nuanced, and context-appropriate. 👏 Just subscribed.
The challenge I have with this comparison is , that it is always along race as if folks can’t be influenced by another artist who is a different race than them. Brittany Spears stated on multiple occasions that she was influenced by Janet Jackson but she was publicly compared to Madonna . Music is universal and it has no boundaries
Agree, Britney's style of performance blatantly had much more of Janet's influence than Madge's.
I really only came to video for your hair btw. Stunning x
OMG I LUV THIS VID
Thank yaaa
Doja cat came so close to being a suitable replacement, but she's letting her weird quirky side show a little too much lol ... maybe that's intentional so that she does't become so pressured. When she made that song streets, that was the last time I really really liked Doja. She was glamorous but edgy ...
i hope normani sticks to pop i think it fits her very well
Chloe Bailey album is coming out next month hopefully it does great is coming out my birthday month March
I’m ready for it! I want a release date neeeooow
I always want that Beyonce and Rihanna to collaborate plus I wanted her to collaborate with Janet Jackson it be so many collaboration people the missing picture these collaboration
This is an excellent video. Thanks, Naomi!
This is VERY well said!
you did such a great job on this video wow thank you
Sometimes when I look at them I do see Beyonce I see Mya I see Janet Jackson Randy Britney Spear Aaliyah and so many others you can definitely tell inspired by these people and definitely other people this is why I be hard for them plus they are black women plus that's all they get computer to each other sometimes you just don't have your own identity if you keep on getting compared to somebody else I know all of these women are
Thanks for another video 🥳.
No
Singing and performance =Chloe
Performance& presence=Normani
HOWEVER!!!
But also beyonce had the privilege of working this hard ever since she was like a teenager. Her parents had foots in the industry
@@paigew6707 SZA is not a performer or a vocalist either. So, I don't get how she is supposed to be "the next Beyoncé"
@@angechrisman1694 i know she’s not, but in terms of talent and having pull Sza is way closer to icon status akin to Beyoncé than Chloe, Normani, or tinashae.
Tinashe is a better vocalist and performer than both of them and she actually makes great music 🤷🏻♀️
I'm glad you shared your perspective on this issue. I really enjoyed the video. Many blessings to you.
Thank you! Blessings your way as well ♥️
Chloe has had one of the most iconic debuts in the 2020s and possibly the 2010s. I have no doubts that her album will fulfill everything we’ve wanting! “Have Mercy” and “Pray Away” are the only singles I’ve liked from her but I’m still super optimistic about her album.
Wow! New subscriber here. Great video. So glad I found this channel.

And even this applies to Rihanna and Beyoncé because Rihanna isn’t really anything of a performer or artist like Beyoncé it’s just they were both around the same time and had a lot of industry comparisons
I feel like we also need to remember that in the scope of human history all of this is very new
