Very interesting video. Loved the soundtrack on the first bit of the Coldrum long barrow section. And the apocalyptic weather on clip of your first visit. Very atmospheric! Such a shame the other stones are out of bounds. As our shared heritage surely they should be made accessible. I have only visited Kit's Coty whilst walking the North Downs Way so these are two other interesting sites. Thank you for showing us them.
Great to see this place again. I was deeply impressed by it when I saw it back in 1990/91, when I filmed with good old Super 8. Thanks for the background information. Painted the White Horse stone as well, though it was more overgrown when I went. Love the decorated tree. Just found several videos of Morris Men dancing at Coldrum on YT. Classic ending, nice one!
There is a very small monolith at Brentmoor Heath, Surrery that is accessible to the public that I visited. There is a military firing range there too. Have you been?
Fascinating - I think most people think that these barrows and stones are only found in Wiltshire in the south of England. These are on my my must visit list!
Thanks for this video Marq, it is of particular interest to me at the moment because I've been researching and building my family tree for the past 18 months. As part of this I've taken a DNA test to find out resent ancestry (500 years), I then took it a stage further and used ancient genome tests with maps, these tests show me ancestral DNA going back to 31000 BC so far! Anyway, on this ancient genome map it shows me I share DNA with some of the remains recovered and tested from Coldrum Long Barrow, approximately 4500 BC! suffice it to say I will be visiting later this month. Keep well Marq
@@MarqEnglish Thanks Marq, I planned to visit Coldrum Long Barrow sometime this spring/summer as I have a caravan I store and use about 30 minutes from the site. I couldn't quite believe it when my DNA map identified Coldrum Long Barrow as one of many DNA matches, then you put out a video...
@@MarqEnglish I should really be watching and commenting on your more recent videos (which I plan to binge watch on Sunday) . I've been pre-occupied with the ancient genome DNA mapping, and thought you'd like to know I have a DNA match to a place close to your heart; West Kennet Avebury, Middle Neolithic, 3300-2500 BCE. Starting to feel blessed.😃
I visited the amazing Michel's Fold Stones on a Sunny day and almost had the place to myself. I don't know why people crowd to see Stonehenge. Even Avebury can get busy. You can feel more at one with the smaller neolithic sites.
There are 3 energy lines that cross over the top of the Coldrum. Amazing place. Try to stay overnight if you can sometime. Just you & the stones & a sleeping bag or blanket
Wow !!! Thanks for sharing Marq. Your enthusiasm really comes over.
Thanks Andy.
Communing with the ancients at Coldrum. A magical place!
It is indeed!
Thanks, Marq :)
You're welcome Chris.
That looked an incredibly special place, as soon as you showed it I could sense the energy there. Thank you for sharing that Marq.
It really is a lovely place Mary.
This is on my to do list .
wonderful

Stupendous! 👍 Coldrum Longbarrow could be the name of the hero in a series of children's adventure books... 🤔
Ha,ha Yes Dave, it does sound like an Adventurer's name doesn't it?

I was so lucky to be there alone and to soak up the 'Atmosphere'...
6000 years old wow
Yep, incredible (and probably older than that),

Never heard of that which suprises me Marie, might have to check that out.
@@MarqEnglish It is not far from me so I could guide you.

The South East doesn't have that many Prehistoric Structures that are all overt the rest of the Country,

I visit coldrum quite alot and i agree the place does have a sort of carming energy with it
Yes indeed, I could have stayed there all day.
Hello Marq. Just wondering if those huge stones are natural to the area, or were they somehow transported there?
That's a very good question and will have a little look into that.
Marq you sounded line Fu Manchu when you said i shall return😐
Marq Trottiscliffe is pronounced Trosley.
Cheers for that.
Only 30 mins from me whats the parking like mate?
Sorry just watched it 😂 thanks for this
No worries. I would say that during the week is better for visiting as Car Park quite small.@@johnfused8281

Well, Avebury is only crowded at times around the Stone Circle itself but it's a much larger Landscape to explore as well,
@@MarqEnglish Yes Avebury is still great. unless you want to be alone with the stones.
@@marieascot There's always a spot to be alone with the Stones.
