i honestly think jihyo has one of the best stage presences in the industry. she has never lost passion after all these years, and i have never seen her give anything less than her best.
I still remember during ICSM lives, even though choreography is not that easy she still tries to sing all her lines and be louder than backtrack. Similar with MM.
Truly a precious idol.
watching her first performance with talk that talk, u wouldn't think she had just recovered from covid. the girl always gives 110% when she performs and never slacks off despite some difficult circumstances... a literal god i tell u

I feel like so many people forgot about Seungyeon. She’s consistently been such an INSANE performer throughout CLC’s run. She has not been given her flowers by the kpop community at large and I really am happy to see her being recognized as the performance standard she is. God I miss CLC.

God, Jihyo in Alcohol-Free was a like a LITERAL goddess. She was so beautiful and just a little flirty and had an all-around magical vibe up there. Every time I watch her fancams I take notes on what she does with her eyes, her body language, and the way she kind of acts along with whatever songs she's performing. It's amazing how she only gets better through the eras. And her versatility, my god. She can do anything from cute and sweet for most of Twice's music and then Perfect World and her performance project came out. Oh my god, she's so good at more intense stuff as well. As a performer she's kind of my role model lmao.
I'm not even into preforming but I genuinely look up to her in some ways. She's just hardworking and passionate about what she does.
And super professional, even when she had panic attack or insomnia she still gave great preformances.

This right here. Never really looked forward to fancams until I saw her Alcohol-Free fancam, esp the one with the scarf top and white bellbottom outfit. She was glowing in a way that you could tell she was feeling the music.
I remember when someone on quora said Jihyo couldnt do mature concepts that they only looked at her in cute, and they were wrong, greatly.
One of the things that makes HyunA more impressive than Jennie is that HyunA is just permanently a soloist at this point. So, where Jennie has the ability to fade into the background while Lisa and/or Rosé take over the stage (in order to catch her breath), HyunA is the center of attention throughout the entirety of the performance. She unfortunately doesn’t have the ability to take a moment and catch her breath. That’s molded her into a more refined performer because she knows that she can’t overperform or she’ll faint. And for a dominant-charismatic performer, that’s the key to success! Since I’m positive that Jennie will do more solo activities in the future, I’m sure that she’ll follow a similar path and become just as amazing as HyunA! 🙌
That's why a lot of idols can be AMAZING in a group and not shine as much as a soloist, as a soloist you need to be 100% during the entire performance. You can't just relax for a few minutes when other members do their part, you need to be drawing attention 100% of the time. That's why HyunA is so great as a performer, her energy and charisma never goes down. I noticed it more and more during Nayeon Solo Pop, you could see that in some catchy part she was there 100%, but sometimes she was relaxing and not performing 100%. It was minimal and comprehensible, but you can see that even though she slayed, she is part of a group and a very cohesive one.
On the other end, when you're in a group you need to fade into the background when it's other members part, or else you'll be accused of being an attention seeker, and you'll break that dynamic. Idols that are great at that are Nayeon, Jennie, and WY for example.
@@jessicajessica4392 Even though I think that Nayeon is one of the few Twice members able to make it as a soloist, she definitely has a bit of growth to do in order to be accustomed to performing on her own. But if anyone can do it, it’s Nayeon!
@@Nameless_mixes Nayeon is definitely in the TOP 2 performer of Twice along with Jihyo, she still has some growth to do to perform on her own, but she honestly own POP. It's an impressive debut as a soloist, and the song relies purely on her charisma during the performance, especially the chorus.
Another member I am waiting to see solo is Jihyo, she is a beast of a performer and her energy seems endless haha.
Even during 4minute Hyuna was pretty much centre with occasionally Jiyoon. So I agree that other members tend to stand out especially since Lisa is a great dancer plus Rose is a singer so they stood out. Rose is my bias. So I agree with u on that

Hwanwoong is literally the best performer in 4th gen it's sad that people don't know him and ONEUS they are such a great group.
He has the perfect balance. He never does too much or less than necessary. He is never really extreme with facial expressions unless the occasion calls for it

TAEMIN is a completely different breed for me. I can't forget the day I discovered him. I was mesmerized, flabbergasted, stunned, hypnotized, enchanted, (insert adjectives)..., simply just watching him on the screen. He exudes such powerful aura that you can't escape but only gets more drawn to it and there's no way out ;) He is the only artist/performer I admire after MJ (i'm a huge fan of mj). And only TAEMIN has the aura that MJ had to dominate the stage, to command the attention of the audience. No one in the industry comes close to Taemin. And never will I fear.
Surprisingly all 3 male idols that are mentioned here are not clear masculine performers. There's definitely something about male feminine or masculine-feminine performers they're just unbeatable. And I'd really like to hear what you think about nct's Ten bcs it's always been so so fascinating to look at him for me. tysm for this video❤️

Apart from stage presence, another reason why Jihyo's dancing is almost as talked about as that of top dancers like Momo is that Jihyo's dancing is comparable to hers now. This may not have been the case when they debuted but watch Jihyo and Momo's recent dance fancams side by side and you'll get what I'm tryna tell. Jihyo has grown so much as a dancer.
Ultimately it boils down to the person's mindset. Healthy competitiveness is prolly what made her the ace. Won't be surprised if she starts spitting bars like a main rapper someday out of nowhere xD
I don't remember the details but Taemin once said that when he learns choreography he just doesn't copy the moves but he thinks about what the choreographer wanted to convey with the move and try to express that.

Taemin almost immediately became my ult bias because of his stage presence and natural ability to perform! I was hooked the first time I saw him perform.
I didn't follow Izone and I didn't know anything about Yujin before IVE debuted.
That girl is just great and she's still young.
Natural facial expressions, confidence on stage and with her moves also amazing ability to catch attention even when she's not in the centre. I hope she won't tone down her preforming even more, since people are accusing her of "overshadowing" ever since Eleven.

Jihyo always amazes me, i’ve been following Twice since their debut and i can’t name a single performance where she didn’t give her 100%. Watching her and her story of training 10 years is truly inspirational.
When I think of the term stage presence, I always think of Mamamoo. Not only are they insanely talented and can operate well with their facial expressions, but they also command the crowd really well. They always perform as if it were their concert, and can transfer their energy onto their crowd. This is why Mamamoo are my ults when it comes to stage presence
Taemin understands that performance is sensory storytelling perfectly that's why the famous "Taemin's genre" Taemin performs better than anyone else not because of music nor dance nor vocals nor lyrics nor style but all of them, your sister is right and i believe taemin sees himself as a medium to convey the music, i've seen him talking in interview once saying that's he's studying theatrical art to know exactly which movement convey which emotion and my god my respect for him went skyrocket on knowing that. He understands the science behind the art and that's my friend is the genius of him.

I’m glad you mentioned Hwanwoong in this video! I think precise is a good way to describe both his dance style and his stage presence. He’s had everything on lock since his debut tbh. I think it’s interesting that you also described Taemin as precise because, as far as I know, Taemin is (one of?) Hwanwoong’s biggest idols. I think he’s been (indirectly) learning from Taemin as long as he’s been training and performing
From the first time I saw Taemin, even before I knew his name was that and who he was as an idol, I have always thought "oh so this is basically MJ" in all the good connotations that that sentence implies. He is one with the stage in a way that I have only seen with MJ and Taemin is so good that it scares me. Idols of idols for a reason

You know that Jihyo is giving it her all in every comeback; she has such duality, and she is forever improving. God Jihyo.
Jihyo is the whole package. I adore that woman so much. She deserves every minute she spends on the stage doing what she loves. I think she's a true storyteller and really considers each song's energy and story and conveys so much. It's why I love watching her just as much on stages like Cry For Me and Perfect World as I do the happy, bubbly Twice concepts. It's struck me more than once that Jihyo would be as entrancing to watch as a hula or belly dancer as she is as a kpop idol.
Jihyo is amazing, when I saw her live, I could feel her energy and passion for performance. That stage was on fire. I just couldn't believe it. I wasn't even sitting that close at all, but I could feel her energy from wherever. Just truly an amazing performer. I love her style of performance, she's really the complete package. Just so happy she's better and back, I was worried about her

I love jihyo - she’s the entire reason I got into kpop. I saw her perform and I was soooo impressed
yujin praise 😭🫂🫂🫂🫂 anyway i was a yujin stan since pd48 (she's two years older than me we basically grew up tgt lmao) because she had this INTENSE desire to improve and get better at anything. when she performed gangsta with chaeyeon and yena, i KNEW she's going to be an insane performer when she reaches 18. she's like a ticking time bomb. few months later she had a viral fancam because of sequence, an izone bside that doesn't sound remotely close to any izone title track which made her stand out (seriously go watch all the fancams). finally, ive came around and it's like the bomb had exploded. she was a different performer. you can see the experience in every move, but she's also just starting. im so so SO excited for her future.

Every time I see twice bias ranking I get shocked.. Like how can jihyo be low.. Even before I hear her voice dance or anything her aura was just so attractive... Like she just makes you enjoy the performance as much as she's doing.. The thing I love about her is that she never shows any struggle or tiredness while performing she controls her facials until the end and give her best throughout her whole stage time.. I diE everytime istg that man💀 He knows that he was born to perform on stage because he has always been vocal about his passion for performing, and it shows, a lot of 2nd gen fans noticed his genuineness. His strong magnetic aura and confidence is A+++ Tier. unfortunately he, and Big Bang, are still on hiatus (which is fine I don't really mind, they deserve to have a rest from the kpop industry) it's just that I miss seeing them perform on stage🥺😭 Regardless, he is still my Number/Top 1 out of ALL the kpop idols when it comes to stage presence, and so far no one has beaten him on my list yet💅

I'm so happy to see Seungyeon here, what made me fall for CLC was exactly the way she controls the stage, her confidence is so exciting, like the moment she's the center of attention she just makes you want to watch her perform. I also think that her group member Yeeun is a very strong performer, more elegant and refined than Seungyeon who is more dominant and powerful in my opinion, but also commanding. And I also truly feel like hyuna just doesn't care if she doesn't look as good sometimes and I love it, like there's facial expressions she uses that just go so well with her message or song, but are not really what a kpop agency would call flatering. I remember PSY even made her change some facial expressions in I'm not cool because he said that she looked like she was swearing.
Some idols are a pure GIFT to watch. They LOVE it and give it their all. It doesn’t feel rehearsed or robotic and regardless whether you even like their group or the song, you will enjoy the performance because of them. THAT is what I call a good performer.

Honestly it confuses me how people can say that Jihyo is overdoing anything. Especially when I see people who are praising her.
She's the second best dancer in the group with strong body language, good facial expressions that aren't too much and consistent energy though the preformances. Not to mention she can fit any concept she's given.
I can tell she's one of the most balanced performers not even arguably.. When it's her parts she gives enough expression and she does not try to give more than what needed in the rest
That why she keeps her energy throughout the performance because she keeps a good control of it

@@AB-yk2pq I don't watch twice's performances much except in music shows or music bank so idk about all the members performance abilities but I have to say their dance sync really saves them even if they lack.. You don't notice the differences in energy they're well trained truly

Yaasss I‘m so happy you talked about Hwanwoong, this guy is the most fascinating idol I‘ve seen in a looong time! And ironically enough at first it was because of his cheeks 😅 I knew a few oneus songs but didn’t really pay attention to them until they dropped lit 🔥 and in one of the first scenes they start dancing Hwanwoong is the center (the infamous gaja parts 😅) and his cheeks poke out in a way mine sometimes do, which I don’t like at all. So I was a little annoyed by his presence but lit being the bomb it is I listened to it over and over again and I was subconsciously always drawn to him to point I was explicitly looking for hin! I had to check his kpop profil, I watched road to kingdom because of him, like he threw the bait and I ATE it! He’s so captivating and expressive and even though oneus as a group are amazing he’s the one that comes to my mind instantly when oneus is mentioned! This dude ruined me, I wasn’t that infatuated with someones stage presence since taemin 😩 and off stage he’s the sweetest little pumpkin, like HOW?! Bye, I‘ll go cry in the corner ❤️❤️❤️

stage presence and hwanwoong are literally synonyms atp. hwanwoong's main teacher is actually from lachica. i forgot her name but there's videos online. she used to teach him during his pre debut days and also said in one video that she and all of the other dancers who used to train together with hwanwoong used to think that he would definitely be a dancer, they were so surprised when he decided that he wants to be an idol. plus hwanwoong was no 1 student in SOPA during his school days. he used to rank first in all his subjects. that's our main dancer yeo hwanwoong, our expression king. he is NOT afraid to do any kind of dance style. you give him and he'll do it and he's excel in it, be it masculine or feminine, he can do it all, literally. i swear this kid has soooo much potential, the world needs to wake up and acknowledge that as well as oneus as a whole group. the whole group has so so much potential, it hurts me to see them being underappreciated.

I think as soon as Ahn Yujin went viral with IZ*ONE Sequence stages, Starship knew they finally hit the concept jackpot for IVE - a continuation and build up off IZ*ONE’s elegant yet sensual songs like Daydream, Ayayaya, Sequence, Mise En Scene, Highlight, etc. And I agree with you, none of the IVE members is truly a charismatic performer. I mean Wonyoung sorta had her charismatic eras during Produce 48 and early IZ*ONE days, but then she quickly gravitated towards the feminine sensual route. Heck even Yujin fooled me into thinking her had a charismatic side by utilizing her big baby doll eye-smile in every bright upbeat IZ*ONE stages. I think IVE consist of:
Yujin: feminine overt sensual
Gaeul: feminine covert dominant
Rei: feminine covert dominant
Wonyoung: feminine overt sensual
Liz: feminine covert sensual
LeeSeo: feminine covert dominant
Even the dominant members are covert so their group harmony is not disturbed
Oneus are such great performers, I always enjoy watching hwanwoong. he’s probably the best at facial expressions in 4th gen, he doesn’t do too much, but the right amount. But they are so underrated
One idol that have an amazing stage presence for me is Exo Kai. I just love his facial expressions and the way he dances. I also like how confident he is on stage, he is a good dancer and he knows it. Plus he loves what he does and we can see how passionate he is when he's on stage, which make the performance very enjoyable for the viewers.

From the way he's technically proficient, his energy and control, how he accentuates movement so that you see what he wants you to see, his facial expressions which are just right(cheeky, intense, fun), his confidence and the way you can tell he just loves performing.
I can't help but smile watching him and sometimes I have to laugh at how insane he is.
He is definitely one of the top performers in K-pop and the best of his generation.

I 1000000000% agree with Yeo Hwanwoong!!! I love Oneus and all the dances of Oneus I know I follow Hwanwoong because there's absolutely no way you can take your eye off him with how much presence he has. He is short but hold all the power, he cannot be lost within the members and knows how to give it.
I also agree with Taemin, I was gonna say something if he wasn't in this list because I mean you can have the words "stage presence" without the definition being Lee Taemin. He's been that standard since 2008 and has just solidified the fact the more he performs. No matter how many idols I love, Taemin will always be my first pick when you talk about being the best performer.
Personally, one of my favorite performers is definitely Yeonjun from txt, i just find everything about his performances, especially what he does with his eyes and facial expressions, so captivating. He seems to always give 100% of his energy and abilities but also looks like he's having so much fun during performing, for both their brighter and darker songs. I feel like once he's on stage, it's very hard to take your eyes off him

Hwanwoong is such a darling on stage! I love watching him perform because it's like watching a musical every single time. ONEUS is one of my favorite groups because the majority of their members love doing what they do, and because of that, all of their songs slap on and off stage.
TAEMIN IS ON ANOTHER LEVEL! I've heard the argument all the time of, "Oh, he's a 2nd Gen idol. He's had experience. That's why he's good as he is." That might be true, but the thing is...TAEMIN HAS BEEN LIKE THIS SINCE HE DEBUTED! Him using Michael Jackson has his muse is actually not surprising to me (and I am one of the biggest Michael Jackson fans to exist), and I'm going to be frank. A lot of people who got rise in fame in the 2000's use MJ as their musical inspiration, but there are so few artists who can emulate MJ just as well as MJ while he was alive. Taemin is the closet Michael Jackson emulation I've ever seen. He can sing and dance close to the same level as the KING of Pop and that should tell you everything you need to know.
