I think majority of middle eastern counties are like this. I believe that many Middle Eastern countries are being criticized by Western countries just because of their Muslim beliefs and their disapproval of LGBT issues, which is mentl ilness lol. The Western countries often claim that these countries oppress women, but sorry to let you know, they are not. The women in these countries are exceptionaly happy. They are all virgin, and can only have sex when they are married. they all have children, and come from large families. On the other hand, in Western countries, it's considered normal for parents to allow their children to get drunk on saturday night in clubs and get aboused by pimps all night long. by the time they are 25, majority of them have a body counts of at leaset 100 and its still completly normal. The divorce rate is sky rocketting, no one wants to be married, children are getting born fatherless becasut its again norma for them and they call it single mum smh. There is litterly no morality, no dignity. When the parents get old they send them to nursing homes and the kids that were once loved by those parents unconditionally don't even care anymore. These are just some of the stuff I am seeing here in New Zealand and I am in Aww of how no one really thinks that these socites are going in a very bad direction. I am genuinely curious about where Western society will be in about 100 years.

Welcome to my country. We are glad to have you here and thank you for showing the beauty of Jeddah city, the hospitality and kindness of Saudi people. Things are changing rapidly regarding tourism and I just wanted to give some comments and tips:
    1. Summer is very hot in most of the cities - even for us as locals - except in few cities in the southern region. So most of the people will not go out until sunset. In the morning or afternoon you'll find them either in malls or closed restaurants with air conditioning.
    2. Public transportation is not well established, so you either have to rent a car or use Uber or taxis. Walking is not a choice and most of the roads are not walking friendly.
    3. Shops and restaurants are not forced now to close during prayer times. It's optional and depends on the owners. And if you are inside a shop or restaurant during prayer time you are free to leave anytime. No body should keep you inside.
    4. Always check google maps and social media for the place you want to visit to make sure it's open and that you don't need to make a reservation. It's better also to give them a call before going out.
    5. You can wear whatever you want but of course with modesty. Shorts are allowed for men. Women are not forced to cover their hair or to wear abaya.
    6. Arabic coffee tastes different, it's usually presented everywhere as a welcome drink, it's polite to drink at least one cup but after that you can apologize for not having a 2nd cup. In our tradition, if you don't refuse drinking the host will keep pouring coffee for you a cup after another.
    7. Always ask locals about the best restaurants and places. Most of the information on the internet is outdated.
We wish you a pleasant stay and can't wait for the coming exciting vlogs!

I personally prefer Jeddah over Riyadh, but I have to admit the small cultural differences....
Maybe in Jeddah we women are not forced to wear the traditional Saudi clothes, but in Riyadh be sure we do!!! We gotta wear traditional Abaya 👘 and Hejab on 🧕🏼 with the small difference that it can be in any colour and shape we choose, not necessarily the traditional Black ones as I myself have and wear 🖤
And, about the traditional Arab Qahwa ☕...... Yanni....
I already know it. We must shake it off a little bit after we drink it as a sign that we are full, happy and satisfied with their hospitality and no need for more Arab Qahwa and so, in order they stop filling the glass up ☕
I know that tradition too long time ago, because I love Arab Badou culture 👳🏻‍♂️ ❤
(which is the same culture) 😉
Btw.... My favourite culture is Arab Badou culture 💕

This is a lovely look into Saudi Arabia and I love to hear the Azan, the Islamic Call To Prayer - it reminds me of the Angelus Bell at Midday & 6pm from our local Catholic Church when I go home to my family, where I grew up in a rural area in the Republic of Ireland, even though I’ve lived here in Manchester U.K. for 21 years - the shopping mall is giving me vibes of both the Blanchardstown Centre in Dublin and the Trafford Centre here in Manchester

I'm from the UK born and bred from Nottingham, and Muslim, travelled to many countries around the world (over 35 countries to be precise). And been to Saudi Arabia 5 times either for Umrah or Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah (and Madinah) but I did stay in Jeddah for 3 nights on one of the Umrah trips and Corniche is definitely my favourite part of Jeddah. And yes I went to Masjid Ar Rahma (The Floating Mosque), There is another floating mosque in Malaysia called the Melaka Strait Mosque in Melaka which I went to as well.
Many locals tend to come out at after sunset but during the day you will barely see anyone around - however there wasn't that many locals in the evening in your video - I'm pretty sure there are normally more than that

But even when its not Ramadan most people don't go outside until sunset bc its so hot so everyone waits until its cooler and you can even see children playing on playgrounds up to 2 3 4 am. Friday nights are busier since Sunday is work day. Did you guy also go to Oman? I lived there for a couple of years and its a very beautiful country I miss it sometimes.

This video is fantastic! I understand why people prefer to come out later in such hot weather. The music playing in the background at the Jeddah Corniche was performed on the Qanun, an Arabian string instrument popular in the region, including Egypt. It can sometimes be mistaken for the Guzheng or Guqin due to their similar sounds, but they are played in different scales.

18:36 You would find a non-alcoholic Budweiser if you visit a supermarket. The area near the Corniche is really much like the Beverly Hills in California. There's a Boulevard that is very much similar to the famous Sunset Boulevard where all the highend luxury names could be found. The Western Housing compound where most Westerners live is actually like typical suburban America where homes are small and mid-sized, you would feel as if you're not in Saudi Arabia. These homes are used by Westerners who mostly work for ARAMCO or Boeing, and Lockheed.

it's not about the walking culture, the Saudi cities like many countries were designed for cars not pedestrians so the concept of walking wasn't even there, how ever later on many countries embraced the public transportation concept, that's why you'll find many (kind of) distorted cities around the world but they managed to recover.
in saudi, the idea wasn't there untill 2014, riyadh metro was announced as a part of a bigger project called "king abdulaziz public transport project", it's set to start operating end of 2023.
i guess we'll start walking LOL, welcome to saudi.
