This episode vlog takes me up to day 284 of my year long adventure ride around Australia! I leave Scottsdale via Sledge Track then onto the Tasman Hwy to the Sideling Lookout! Back on the dirt at Myrtleford Rd to Myrtle Bank. Hang a right onto Patersonia Road to again pick up the trail on Mount Arthur Road. Mount Arthur is the 3rd mountain in the trio with the other 2 being Mount Barrow & Ben Lomond...which I’ve done! Trying for the hat-trick, I get halfway up & around Mount Arthur before the track got too gnarly! Abort! Back out to Patersonia and cut up on Prossers Forest Road until I hit Lilydale Road. Continued through Lilydale & took Bacala Rd into Tunnel to see the old railway tunnel! Back out on Golconda Rd and cut up to Bridport via Ferny Hill Road and camped up for the night with more rain forecast on the radar for tomorrow! It’s always an adventure...carry on! 😁👍🏁⛺️🏍💨

Mark if you are listening. Throw all the good ADV bits onto young Bruce who should be super reliable and find a nice dry corner of the shed for old Bruce to relax in 😄. He might come in handy for parts one day😬.
Loved the old rail line explore. I’d like to hike that one day 👌.
    Carry On👏👍🙏🏻

    Hi Roz,
What a pity that the Mt. Arthur track had deteriorated that much? Wife and I made it through there many years ago in (not my Mini, but Wife's Morris 1100.. About 1985 I think? About where you put on the waterproofs, there was a hut with a group of guys with cans laughing their heads off as we went past.. I'm sure they expected to see us come back in a short time.. But we made it ! Only just fitted under a tree that had fallen over a cutting though? Thank heavens for old small British cars? Hollybank Forest was originally planted , (I think in the 1930s) to supply special timber for the Alexander Tennis Raquet factory in Launceston.. The Police and citizen's boy's club now resides in the old factory buildings in the suburb of Newstead.. In the late 1800s, there was a water wheel driven sawmill by the dreek in there, and an 8 mile wooden rail tramway to the site of the Mowbray Hotel in Launceston... Not only is Hollybank a beautiful place but it has quite a history too?
Once again you were on my favourite old trucking roads again for much of this trip..
    Cheers, Stay safe,
    Rob

OMG you are a wealth of information darl! Thank you for sharing the history and OMG I wish you had GoPro’s in those days! 😂 I saw that hut but didn’t want to go have a better look just in case Sasquatch was having an afternoon nap in there! 😂 It’s very well hidden behind a huge tree and you can’t see it from the trails but I saw the wheel tracks so went for a little bo peep! 😂

Hi Roz, We did not have a GoPro, back then, but have got 35mm. photos to prove it? Never went out without the camera case.. The 1100, wife and 2 kids on the Mt.Arthur track.. Our old Mt. barrow stuff is on 8mm. movie film and 126 Kodak square format stills.. We have the "old" Hollybank from 40 years ago on movie film too???? It was even more beautiful back then?
The concrete bridge that you passed over (near Fingal) on the way from Mathinna to Fingal road is a great spot to watch Platypus too.
We have many still pictures of the places that you (and us) have traveled to in Tassie.. Isn't Strathgordon great?

@@robinmathews2446 fantastic! So great to have those awesome memories in photos & film. So many people say they don’t take photos because they keep the memories in their heads...but you do forget and there’s nothing better than busting out those memories to share with old friends over a bevy or 3 when they come to visit. Yep I can imagine how beautiful Hollybank would’ve been in those days with those beautiful elms & maples turning gold orange & red! 😍🙏

Nice vid Roz, it's very pretty in our backyard, shame about not being able to ride through the tunnel, glad you were able to get to it by foot though. Xo

If I had thought about it earlier I could have suggested that you get the ferry over to Flinders Island and check that out. Something only a few do but well worth it apparently. Love following your adventures .

I swear I saw a platypus once while riding across the little single lane bridge on Patersonia Rd. I came from Nunamara direction, didn't realise the top half of it and Targa Hill Rd were dirt... First time on dirt road on my little Burgman scooter, was a bit dicey 😂
