I love my NEX-7. I have also some cameras from the A7 series but using the NEX-7 is easier and quick - a real no-brainer. It is the perfect camera for someone who wants to step into shooting stills at an affordable price. Combine it it with some affordable vintage lenses (e.g. Canon FD lenses with 24mm, 35mm and 50 or 55mm plus the Canon to NEX adapter, all from Ebay) or cheap Chinese manual APS-C lenses and you have everything what is needed to learn photography from the scratch. And the image quality of the NEX-7 is still top-notch.
I just bought a Nex 7 in like new condition including original boxes. Truthfully, I expected it to be a better than average camera but the premium feel and the outstanding pics really surprised me. Next are adapters so I can use my vintage manual Pentax lenses. Peace.
@@miket5591 Actually, I’m trying to decide whether to keep it. ...it takes great photos and I’m still impressed with the build quality but I get frustrated with accidentally pressing the record button-I’ve researched and there’s no way to turn it off. Also, the cost of E-mount lenses (including used ones) can be prohibitive. I realize the market is way out of balance now because of the pandemic...time will tell. In the meantime, I’m thankful to have Canon, Fujifilm & Sony in my camera stable. Be well.

Great video, you saved me a ton of cash. My 9-year-old daughter is into photography and had asked for a proper camera to learn on. I nearly bought her a new 6400 but after watching this video I went on eBay and bought her a Nex 7. For her upcoming birthday, she will be getting a professional APS-C Camera with a couple of lenses all under $300... thanks Momen!
I still have and love my NEX 7. Phenomenal landscapes, travel, portraits, street photog and light weight. I love my A7lll but it fills a very different niche.

I have two Nex7 based Hasselblad Lunar, love them. The only thing missing is eye focus and the object teaching disentangle work well, the menu is simpler to use, the buttons are easy to use and the photo it takes is as good as the new models.
Eventhou I now have ff my good old NEX 7 are still used and a brilliant fall back camera. The NEX 7 still bows me . Took one to Thialand was brilliant and still surprised me, I still totally agree and recomend the Nex 7.
you are correct my friend, I'm already on my 3rd body of the NEX7. The manual control with 3 thumb dials is superior to any other camera. The sensor is a bit outdated now (11.2020) but still does the job rather well. I really wish Sony would refesh this body with BSI crop sensor or bring 7C tech to modified but similar control structure. That, would be ideal in my opinion. Thanks for great video! Br, KaroGraphix

I’m gonna reuse my nex-7 for learning photography with a atelier Photo at the university. Thanks a lot, especially for the battery. It was my biggest concern. I didn’t realize the value of nex 7. At that time, it was a first released mirrorless camera. I’m looking forward to your next video. It was a great help for me
I bought an used Hasselblad Lunar which is a Sony Nex7 after using A6000 and A7r3 for years. Taking good picture is more about the photographer and what you shoot and less about the camera. I don’t shoot video or action so though I love the eye focus and body stabilization on A7r3, i still use A6000 all the time because it demands more on me and force me to polish my skills to control the camera. I bought a Hasselblad version of original Sony RX100 and love how Hasselblad did to the body, thus got the Lunar instead of Nex7. Nex 7 is a reliable and easy to use body, it has all the basics you need to take great pictures. As an old guy started photography with a Nikon F2, 100% manual, the fundamental training of understanding how to play with light, the shadow, the environment and your subject without replying the camera makes it so much fun. Don’t buy Nex 7 to shoot family, pet and friends, use your phone, buy a Nex 7 if you want to enjoy photography without spending an arm and leg, and there are a ton of good lenses to choose from now. Sigma 30mm f1.4 is great choice, cheap, fast and sharp. My favorite is Zeiss Batis 16mm, but it’s an overkill for Nex7 in 2020.

Does it focus fast enough with the Sigma 30mm f1.4? I recall hearing that lens had focusing issues (something to do with aperture setting), which I assume was fixed on new cameras. Same question for their 56mm f1.4. Also does it have different colors focus peaking for manual focusing lenses? Thanks for the helpful revival of this forgotten gem.
Thank you for your comment and sorry for the late respond ... the Nex 7 it will be great with you if you shoot subject dosnt move like products and food and landscape .. however the autofocus is not bad and also not the fastest as well to be honest .. I have used it for weddings and it was OK not the best as i missed some shoots for not so fast focus but about 85% of the photos was great and my customer was so happy ... so it is a great camera to start your business with ... for the colors peaking yes its supported with this camera .. good luck bro
Hey Momen! Really enjoyed this video. I've been using it for photos, but just getting into video now! I have a couple questions I wonder if you could answer? 1. Does this not have a hotshoe adaptor on it? The little flash adapter doesn't seem to hold the typical hotshoe. 2. Do you use a gimbal with it? Which one?
Thank you for your question... First... This cam does not have the regular hotshoe so you have 2 options first get the Menolta flash or get the adapter and use any hotshoe you want Second.. Yes I use gimbal as the Nex 7 dose not have sensor optical or electric Stabilization and I use (g6 plus) stabilizer it's cheap and good :)
I heard that the NEX 7 doesn’t have WiFi and I’m a beginner & I want to do video Reaction on TH-cam so my question is how can I live stream with out Wifi? and is there a way that I connected my Rode Podmic & Scarlett 2i2 audio interface to the NEX-7!
Sony realized they made a mistake when releasing this camera it was too good for the time and would mess with future sales of full frame and video only cameras especially the full frame and this is probably the reason they named the new full frame "Sony a7" to get everyones mind off the camera that was to good.

Thanks for your question and let me tell you I am a pro photographer and I use and make money from my Nex 7 there is no way to feel shy of your Nex 7 because in 2020 standard it's still doing a great job you getting the a 6600 the most recent one same max image resolution 6000*4000 you have a sharp view finder the only downside of the nex7 is the auto focus not fast as the 6600... So for your travel lens I have the great 18-200 mm 3.5 and for low light situations I have 35mm 1.8 if you have this 2 lenses they will cover most of your needs :)

every one going to the mirrorless camera system this the future 80d is old system .. Nex 7 , compact , higher image resolution 6000*4000 and that's a lot for image quality , you can use any of e-mount Sony systems full frame or crop lenses without any adaptor like Canon .. the only good point for canon is the lenses is way cheaper than Sony lenses

Nex7 In body image stabilization? Probably not even close to the a6600 or the a6500. But for the money the Nex 6 or 7 would be a great buy. The IBIS on the 6500 and the 6600 will blow the Nex 7 away though.
The Nex 7 is an amazing camera for it's era. I still use mine and I'm keeping it (have original boxes). Photo sharpness, speed, form factor and features keep this camera relevant. Sony E-mount lenses are expensive. I use vintage lenses a lot for that old school dreamy vibe. My go-to camera is an older Canon DSLR-workhorse that works flawlessly for stills & videos. Colors out of the Canon are unbeatable and don’t look so sterile, IMHO. SL3 is a great camera but be mindful that you cannot use a universal flash on it... Canon removed the center contact on the hotshoe so for this model you must use Canon’s flash. Video: If you plan on mid-heavy video use, go with the Canon...The Nex will overheat. ...hope this helps. I still have a nex 7 and am happy with it. But I've gotten a confused side eye in a camera shop as I bought a lens because it's quite old.

It's good but not as good as the new models as a6600 but if you can handle your camera well... You will get the same quality as a6600

Nex 7 doesn't have any app or wifi so I use light room and photo shop for photos and Adobe premiere for videos from my pc

you should not shoot yourself with natural light. when you cut in clips recorded at different times the exposure changes dramatically
