      Awesome, that is exactly why I went ahead and posted the video even though there were no fish, I wanted to show people what a cool fishy river it was! A real hidden gem, in my opinion! And thanks, I might hit you up for some inside info for my next Cave Run trip. :)

      I used to use 4" Senkos, but that Big TRD lasts so much longer and seems to work just as well!

    You should try Elkhorn Creek for small mouth if you haven't yet.

      I have the issue of not having the ability to shuttle kayaks with my car, so when I river float I usually hit the Whitewater River in Indiana, where for $15, Whitewater Canoe Rental will let you park there, use their launch and take out spots, and shuttle you. Plus the Whitewater river is so shallow and clear and nice, and has smallies! I've waded on the Little Miami a bunch, but I don't kayak it much because of the shuttle issue. I'd check the multiple kayak ohio fb pages, there are almost daily posts about where the best spots to kayak rivers are. Sorry I'm not much help!

    Going to be at Cave Run in May, will be more focused on flyfishing muskie. Any tips before I come out? It will be my first time fishing in Kentucky and first time fishing for pures.

      I don’t have much experience musky fishing, I’ve only caught them as by-catches when bass fishing. I’d get on the Cave Run Fishing fb group and ask advice of the lake regulars, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

      Hi! Thanks! I have only been on the Licking this one time, but I really want to go back and explore! That river looked amazing!

      @@GirlGoneFishing yes. I’m excited to kayak there as well. From the videos I have seen, it largely looks like flat water, would you say that is true in your experience?

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PatrickLHolley the little part I kayaked was very calm, of course that would change with water releases from Cave Run Dam.

    How would the Hobie Lynx Kayak do on the Licking River?

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it would do fine if you avoided getting it impaled by any of the submerged trees, or dragged too harshly over shallow rocks. The Lynx has that thin fiberglass layer, so you do have to treat it a little more delicately than a regular rotomolded kayak. I've had it out on rivers a few times with no problems, the Lynx can do pretty much anything if you are careful with it!
